- Right now, There's no better time to be a Jet Radio Fan! Even though franchise may not have been prominent in the video game industry (thanks Sega...) The JSR Community has kept this franchise alive with art, music, fan and indie games and more. With Bombrush Cyberfunk right around the corner and a leak of a potential new Jet Set Radio game, here's some other cool JSR like games that are out and are up and coming that we recommend you guys check out!

Dude I cannot tell you how excited I was for that game. Like on the same level of Hogwarts legacy hype almost. The nostalgia and everything man. A great game made for the fans by a good studio at a great price. What game studios should be doing. Giving the consumer games they want.

Lethal League Blaze should probably get an honorable mention. It's not in the same genre as these 4, Butterflies, or Jet Set Radio, but it does have similar graphics, aesthetics, and music given that it's also made by Team Reptile, the ones behind Bomb Rush Cyberfunk.
Lethal League goes crazy! It definitely deserves an honorable mention for sure lol

I know it's not gonna be the case but imagine if Sega is waiting until BRC releases just to see how much of a public it gets and then releases news about the new JSR (oh hey look at that, a new JSR game is in the works neato)
Yeah we definitely could see that happening lol all the more reason to support BRC as much as possible
I can see SEGA doing this, they normally do that with series they want to bring back but dont know how the public would take it
Another series was Yakuza, after the (apparently, I never played it) shitstorm that was Yakuza 4: Dead Souls and then Yakuza 5, the next Yakuza game to come out in the west was Yakuza 0 which was a test to see if westen audiences enjoyed Yakuza which everyone loved it

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is even wilder because they got Hideki Naganuma to get on the soundtrack, the guy who did a lot of the music for JSR and JSRF

Yeah! He seemed to embrace the route of a freelancer after leaving SEGA. I don't think that video game music composition is his primary way of making money, but in recent years, he seemed eager more than ever to create more.

Bombrush Cyberfunk is supposed to release on the switch tomorrow (8/18/23) & I can not wait!!! I’m so excited for this game!!! Also I really hope they make another JetSet Radio! Again been waiting 20+ years for one

There's also this game on steam my friend found called 'hover'. It looks a bit like jet set radio and has parkour and speed, challenges and stuff. And it's online. It's pretty fun for a while.
If you want more games that are just graffiti based with different play styles, there’s Sludge Life 1 and 2, both on Steam, they’re much more casual exploration based graffiti games with a strong unique aesthetic, soundtrack and humor. And for an older game, Marc Ecko’s Getting Up; Contents Under Pressure is a very gritty underground look at graffiti, with a beat-em-up and parkour based gameplay. This game’s soundtrack is heavily influenced by East Coast rap, with the main character being voiced by New York rapper Talib Kweli. The game also features plenty of real life graffiti artists. It’s also on Steam, and despite being a pc port from 2005, still received patches and is fully playable.
And Splatoon! The gameplay is different but the art style is definitely inspired

A game I really enjoyed is called Hover. its definitely not a successor to jet set radio but it still has that futuristic flair and fun parkour in such a cool world. The music is also super good. I enjoyed that game thoroughly and I suggest to give it a shot.

Hover: Revolt of Gamers!!!! I would have added that in there. It's heavily inspired by jsrf but with a twist. Lots of awesome characters and a pretty interesting story too

It's a shame Hover didn't turn out better. It was promising in its early builds, but when they redesigned the starting area to be more...well, boring...it set the standard for things to come.
I need to get in touch with these people. I have been preparing my entire career to get some tracks in a JSR game but they never made one 😂

I love that AAA studios never listen to what fans want UNTIL an indie dev makes one and it EXPLODES in popularity.
BRC is more JSR than the new JSR, by the looks of it, lol
Just beat the post-game challenges in BRC, and if you're having trouble, I have two tips:
•keep your combo for 90% of the score, or reset the challenge
•Do NOT forget to throw in some boost tricks, and vary your combos. I was doing the highest multiplier, most varied combos possible, and I was losing by a wide margin until I remembered to throw in some boost tricks as well. Boost trick on rails, boost trick in the air, boost trick while manualing.
Oh, and at least on Switch, there's a spot where if you jump off a particular rail at the terminal right after turning, it ends your combo the second you jump. No clue what that's about.

If you got a PSP, get SKATE PARK CITY, it's basically JSR with skateboards
I gotta throw Hover in there as well. It definitely pales in comparison to BRC, but $4 on the current Steam summer sale isn't bad for people looking for something cheaper than BRC & scratches a similar itch. BRC sale price is also a bargain though
Hi-fi Rush and Neo: the world ends with you too they have incredible music and specially hi fi rush you shouldn't be sleeping on this

I hope this game can get a dlc to expand on the tricks. It just shows how complex the original JS games were. I just beat BRCF and it’s pretty good it’s lacking somehow. Still, this is the best we’re gonna get.

Another game to look into is Hover (og name was Hover Revolt of Gamers). Which was a kickstarter game that also has that JSR love. Its focus is on mainly races and time trails in larger levels. While i do enjoy the game, some later levels are more annoying since they expect certian character stats for different events and the levels expect you to have certian speed and jump (looking at you adminstration, dam bottomless pit)
Just recently started playing it actually and we're still early into the game but we'll definitely keep that in mind for the later levels lol

Hover is another good playground game that was inspired by jet set and i think it also has like 2 osts in it from Hideki. Though the game is a bit buggy and dry but the parkour is pretty fun
