    I'm looking forward to when diesel outboards are common in the U.S.! You won't have nearly as much of a problem with "dropping speed when she digs her shoulder in". Plus, cleaner and better fuel economy!
    Those OXE 350's from across the pond need to become common options here in the States, asap!🙏

    Only box not checked, which was ignored, is that you can't fish off the stern. Most of these test sites leave that part out. Giant outboards mounted 6 feet off the stern.

    That is one hell of a fishing boat. I guess it fits the niche of those who dont/cant spring for a Viking. I didn't look at what these are going for, but I would imagine with the dual 600s it's somewhere around 600k. Maybe more. Great job as always, Capt. Steve.

      Too busy. Needs a wrap around windshield. SeaKeeper Gyro should be standard. BW and SeaRay need to "get schooled" by Tesla to both ruggedize and bring into the 21st Century the electronics...again as standard and with automatic updates. Need to study and apply how Ford Motor Company and now Toyota have fully deployed their hybrid electric systems. Why do I need a generator again?
      Whole new ballgame now with only the RV Industry "feeling the heat" first from the likes of Rivian but now the entire pure BEV "emergent as off road/off shore Industry"(Canoo, Lordstown Motor, Nikola, Ford, Tesla, General Motors, etc.)
      By way of example there has to be a cleaner method than "rocket launchers" for the fishing Platform with the obvious solution being inlaid gunnel and tuna tower to clean up the invaluable deck space.

    I'm no maritime expert. But it amazes me how sail ships and boats with high towers for fishing like this, are stable in the water, when they have so much weight, so high up, above their centre of gravity.
    Particularly with sails, where it's required to have the wind putting huge forces on the sails to move the boat.
    I can imagine how dangerous that could be if you've got cross winds.
    Again, I'm no expert. I just have a basic understanding of the friction of water, even with stabilising fins, compared to the friction of solid ground foundations of buildings of similar heights to sail boats and sail ships. But yes...those buildings are made to move with the weather like boats are...and they regularly have a far higher centre of gravity then a boat can get away with.

    • @BillWalkerSD
      @BillWalkerSD Před 2 lety

      Most sailboats over a certain size have weighted keels for that very reason. I'd guess that framework upper control station on this boat doesn't really add all that much weight.

    • @davidodonovan1699
      @davidodonovan1699 Před 2 lety

      @@BillWalkerSD true. Keels was the word I was trying to think of, not fins. Sorry. Thank you.
      Also yes, those towers do look specially designed to be a light as possible, the higher up they go.

    • @MonicaHolly143
      @MonicaHolly143 Před 2 lety

      I mean, the heavier the boat the more stable it is

    • @davidodonovan1699
      @davidodonovan1699 Před 2 lety

      @@MonicaHolly143 True. But also, the heavier the boat, the bigger the sails are. Especially if we are talking about those wooden tall ships in the 1700's, 1800's, and earlier boats then them.

    • @BillWalkerSD
      @BillWalkerSD Před 2 lety

      @@davidodonovan1699 And those guys, if they didn't have heavy cargo in the hold, would stow a few tons of rocks there as ballast to aid stability. You can still find piles of rock in harbors today where they picked up or dropped off their ballast. Often called Ballast Point, as the one in San Diego Bay is.
