Very informative, I learned a good amount. (Forget the naysayers here.)
Thank you!
Hi there. How do well the difference Koa and Acacia? They look very similar and I just bought a ukulele (not branded one) that they claim it’s Koa.
I think I explain it on the video.
@@FlowforthInstruments I watched the video again. No I haven’t got my answer. I meant, can we tell their differences by looking at their specific characters, colors or pattern? Because they look very very similar, like you said they’re from the same family. (I hope you understand my question, sorry my English is not very good)
@@emmyukoustic I think wood specialists and experienced luthiers can tell the difference but most people can't. It's more to do with density than the colour of the wood.
@@FlowforthInstruments oh i see. Thank you!
Acacia Hawaiiensis is Koa. Your explanation is useless as information. And most Koa substitutes and companies that brand guitars as Koa but are false use Acacia Africansis. Tropical and sun tropical acacia grows slow and develops heavy sap flows. This produces the curl or striations that make it beautiful. You claims about density are false as well. Acacia has a uniform density across the board no matter of regional speciation that is even greater than rosewood. And Koa is a character trait associated with bravery. It’s a tree of noble aspect and revered for its stature and power. It was used to almost extinction for outrigger canoes not weapons. Anyways, spreading misinformation like this just adds to humans being confused so educate yourself before adding to human ignorance or just resist the urge to make a pointless video.
Thank you for your information - if not for your sanctimonious tone and presumptive projections.
@@FlowforthInstruments it’s a straightforward answer to a question muddled by people who think they are explaining something but are just making it easier for large scale instrument builders to fleece the public by misrepresenting what they are selling. If you don’t know it’s best not to pretend.
@@jamesrosch1708people who get fleeced online are the ones who don't research several sources prior to purchasing. It's part of life given the ease of buying online. Your posts just come off as rude
