- Staten Island, your ride is getting a major upgrade ✨
Here's a sneak peak of the Staten Island Railway's first R211 train, featuring wider doors, digital screens, accessible seating areas, and more!
Entering service in 2024, these trains will replace the aging R44 fleet.
For the first time in over 50 years the Staten Island Railway is getting new trains.
I hope that Staten Island will take well care of its trains.
Not many people use it

imagine living in staten island and riding on one of these beauties for your daily commute! Maybe Staten Island isn't that bad after all
Just bc there’s only one line and 1 train model only which is the R44 doesn’t mean it’s a bad place I love that it’s peace and quiet
Unbelievably amazing 😊

Now revive the Saint George Tunnel.
No demand
@@EndIessProductionsIf there were no demand, there wouldn't be express buses, nor drivers complaining about congestion pricing.
@@samuelitooooo no no ,no demand to revive the tunnel
It’s very nice the R211S
as a Staten Island student this feels great
U should feel like that way my son 🗣🗣
Thank you MTA! 🎉 The Staten Island subway needed new trains.
Nice to know that they are making these Rail Car's More accessible!
Do people even use accessible seats?
Staten Island was already included in the deal as a part of New York City Transit. Be great. Keep proud.👌
As a person that regulary visits staten island, im excited
I love the old Staten island trains, they are my favorite MTA trains
Awesome R211S!!
About fucking time.
FR the SIR trains are old omg
The r44s have been in service for 50 years its time for them to go
Wow! 😊
Let’s go R211 is gonna be on Staten Island
Looks so shiny ✨
There are no open gangways. Why not extend both platforms at Richmond Valley and either install gap fillers at the northbound platform or extend it further north at Clifton so that people won’t have to worry about which cars they’re in?
UPDATE: I heard that the R211 has no clearance issues since the cars are 60ft long compared to the R44 whose cars are 75ft long. So the curved platform issue may be automatically eliminated once all R44s are replaced by R211s. As for Richmond Valley, it may have low ridership and bridge pillars in the way but the staircases could be adjusted. After all, it is the only station on the SIR with short platforms so I don’t think it will hurt to extend them once and for all.
I’ve ride this train for the 2nd time
ALRIGHT R211S
I wish they had forward/reverse facing seating like the cars they are replacing. It is still a railroad after all.
AWESOME!
Can’t wait to hear the announcements for the R211S!
Is it gonna be mail or femail announcement?
Make them expansion to Brooklyn 95 st with R
no they’re not making a subway from Staten Island to Brooklyn
Unless there’s a demand
@@EndIessProductions it should be
Finally! Also can we have the SIR extend into atleast one nyc subway station for easy transportation to staten island?
ITS AWSOME!
WELCOME!✨️✨️✨️
I hope they test the R211S
😮💨It's about time!
Great Job, #FabulousMTA
finally, some love for staten island
AMAZING
Mooi 🌷🎅🌷
Who here from Summer 2024
I was today years old when I found out that the majority of Staten Island riders only pay at two of their stations and get to ride the Staten Island Ferry for free, at the rest of the stations they get on the train for free. No wonder Other MTA riders don't want to pay their fares forcing drivers to pick up the slack.
Hey MTA, When is the R211S entering in passenger service to Staten Island
THE NEW LINE ICON???? (SI)
How nice that ONE wheelchair will take up 3 seats. That'll go over well when they stick these lemons on the A line.
The R179 is the lemon not the R211
Looks the same. Cool.
I'm wondering why the bullet on the outside is "SI" and on the inside it's "SIR."
I was wondering why the bullet on the inside sign just has a red diamond and not SI(R)
@@farrockqns3759Squeezing two letters into a tiny diamond most likely isn't doable on those displays and considering they only have 1 line, it aint warrented on the inside.
@@Shinycelebi im sure they can take that out completely and just allow the letters without the diamond with a software update and have the diamond indicator on the strip map and it’s on the front that should suffice
@dxrxzbunchanumbers its because an express diamond can't fit 3 letters

Can I hear the announcements,
please Mta I am begging you 🥺🥺
They exist on other CZcams channels.
They were only operating old model Some kind of happy They are coming to sir
Nice
Come to Philadelphia and see how Pathetic our SEPTA trains look, both subway and elevated, drugs, crime, homeless, piss, poop, trash God knows what else. Philly doesn't deserve these new trains yet, until Management starts addressing our health and safety concerns. Congratulations New York🙏
Can't wait! What day will it enter service?
Lol you expect the MTA to be on time. Good luck with that. The R211 was delayed in service from summer of 2022 to march of 2023
Unsure abt the day specifically, but they said 2024
@@ix.cryo1Thx!
@@GamingWeekends1that’s because everything will (almost) always need modifications before it’s safe to enter service. You don’t want it to fail immediately. And if you think the MTA's R211 issues are bad enough, look at Boston MBTA's CRRC cars.
@@GamingWeekends1come on Jayden the wait is only one year
love this :D, cant wait for a new ride on the R211's!
OH MY GOD YES
WOOO
MY BFF WILL SEE THAT
hi
and the 8,10,11,12 and 13 train?
no demand and not needed
It's a "railWay", not railROAD..
SIR has been part of the NYCT Department of Subways for awhile now.
Why do you think they ordered new cars identical to the NYCT cars, and not M7 or 9 Type EMUs?
Sir Is now a cab signal "subway line", and has been for many years.
You will never see Railroad equipment EMUs in service there ever again.
A long time ago, Staten Island Rapid Transit Railroad was an independent railroad agency like the former New York City Transit Authority. Since April 1996, Staten Island Railway has become an agency absolutely dependent on Metropolitan Transportaion Authority. Things are not what they used to be.
It is still under FRA regulations, with certain waivers.
Is it just me or doss the seating arrangement on the 211S not fit SIR? Sad day for the ME2s tho, since the ME3s are coming.
When are they doing there testing
12/10
Anybody know what the difference is between the SIR cars and the normal MTA cars?
The SIR units are equipped with cab-signaling software whereas the NYCT cars have CBTC installed. Other than that, they’re much the same.
@@TrainMaster5097 thanks for the reply! Another dumb question, is this CSS system used by Chicago CTA? I've been really curious as to why I see so few signals along CTA lines.
@madisonsinclair5123 I have no clue about that. I’ve visited Chicago and ridden the CTA some years ago, but I know little to nothing of their system.
Noice
Now being that's its called the Staten Island Rail Way, I'd figured they would actually have a train set that resembles more of a rail road car and not the subway.
I must mention that the Staten Island Railway does not run on subway level (underground). Most of the line is surface, and some parts are trestle.
The line has many waivers from the FRA that allow it to run subway trains, plus the line being isolated from the mainline railway network also helps.
Im really gonna miss the R44s
Where did all the seats go?
It's a very long ride from St George to Tottenville.
That's the design. Furthermore, older cars are more expensive to maintain.
I'm not sure you're correct. These cars are expensive. Whoever made this decision should be fired, don't understand the needs of the customer.
@robertrams9353 Over a period of time, these cars will be less expensive to maintain. Sure, these cars were expensive to purchase, but the investment will be worth it further down the road
What about the lack of seating?
@robertrams9353 It's basically a general design that we will have to accept whether we want to or not.
NO WAY
Where is this place
R211S 😡 R44 😞
Most railfanners know thus but cool video
the r44s are gonna be gone
When open gangways for the SIR
They won’t get because they don’t need it
This is dumb, staten island does not need big doors. Make more seats liek r44
I am so sad
Still the train to no where.
😮😲🙂🙃
video editor did terrible job
Can u put it on the F Train Quicker
That's the R211S for the Staten Island Railway, and the F is very unlikely to get R211's since it has R160s
@@CLBT7437 either that, or Jamaica (E F R) might actually get R211s either option order 1 or 2, or another likely scenario, go to Concourse (D) since 6th Av is soon getting CBTC.
@Bentheminor7021 The latter is more likely. If R211's go to Jamaica, they'll have to prove their worth in that yard before any R160's can leave. However, the R211s have slightly less capacity than the R160s.
That also delays the process of R46 retirement even further.
R211s can't and won't change the fact that the Queens Blvd Line is busy. Those cars are meant to retire the R46's and displace Concourse R68's to CIY.
@CLBT7437 yes I fully concur 🙏
Those screens will probably get trashed by some teenager TBH
Why does Staten island need subways ..
They’re replacements for the current rail cars that Staten Island has.
All Glory to God amen God bless in Jesus Christ name
Well at least in S.I they'll be remaining cleaner than the R211A on the A line
Now let's see how the announcements will sound. Male or female?
Now the train operator and/or conductor will have ultimate control over the public address announcement system.
Most likely the same announcement style on the subway
Thats the newest NYC's got? 😂
R211T 🌚
Honestly yea u can’t expect them to automatically get a good subway bc they have like 200+ stations that will take FOREVER just to redesign them all
@@EndIessProductions ? This is a video about new rolling stock so I'm obviously talking about the trains and how they look so old and cheap compared to those in other systems
I think the R44SIR is getting retired.
No shit
wow really i thought we were just getting more trains to increase capacity
Oh shit
The seating is not designed to attract riders - it is designed for people who have no choice but to ride that train. They don't get sardine can crowding down there. Am I wrong? (I don't ride there much).
Only during the rush hours
Don't believe the hype I know
I don't like the seats facing each other I have to be force to look at people I don't even like
Well too bad get used to it
RIGHT HERE THEY NEED TO PUT N.Y.P.D. POLICE TRANSIT 🚇🚇🚇 DISTRICT COPS 👮♀️ 👮♂️ 🚔 INSIDE THE SUBWAY TRAIN 🚇 STATION CAB CARS NOT AT THE TURNSTYLES WHERE YOU SCAN & $$$ PAY 2.90 CENTS WITH YOUR OMNY SCANNER CARD PASS.
The cops that are in the system arre always on their phones 😂
No keep it at in service for now the old school trains as no place for vandalism or scrap advertisement please put some service forever not New York Transit Museum with no retirement
That joke of yours is getting too old, especially since every transit agency is required to do regular fleet replacement. Even Chicago is doing it, so why can’t NYC?
@@TheRailLeaguersome people can’t handle change lmfao. But I can because I’m already in love with the R211T after riding it for the first time.
