      The police report and the HPI check didn't identify any faults with her car. The psychic didn't see it. It was her that saw it and a roadside mechanic from the RAC that spotted the fact that the car was dodgy.

    Most garages that aren’t pretty dealerships are full of cars and parts, and dirty. The key is the smaller family or backstreet garages that appear to be always busy are the ones to go to. Use your noggin, ask people who are entering and leaving the garage on their opinion and experience

    1., buy a cabriolet in the UK only for the looks, that's the most clever idea
    2., don't take any person (who knows about cars) with you when you purchase the car, that's extremely important
    3., consult a "psychic" about the car you feel something wrong about
    4., that "psychic" must be the only person you consult about the car, she (he) is an expert of cars, trust her (him) blind
    5., never ever read a book about repairing cars
    6., never ever try to be friends with a mechanic, car mechanics are lowlife alcoholic drug abusers, you have to stay away from them
    7., instead, open the fucking phonebook to look up a garage, they are the best
    8., if you know that much about cars, complain to the BBC that you were fucked over.

    • @philjackson4365
      @philjackson4365 Před 10 lety +2

      You're right. 30 years ago, most people did. Nowadays, people are too busy posting pictures of their dinner on social media to take the time to understand how their second most valuable asset works. Anybody with half a modicum of mechanical sympathy wouldn't pay for a new engine and a new timing belt, as if they were separate parts. Zoiks.

    • @RSimusic
      @RSimusic Před 9 lety +1

      Phil Jackson Oh for fucks sake. Newer engines have much more complex electrical looming, diags & sensors, they have become quite a bit more complicated than just a workshop manual for joe bloggs to be able to repair his car.

    • @philjackson4365
      @philjackson4365 Před 9 lety +1

      I don't accept that argument. The skills you need now are a little different, but no more taxing to pick up. The most involved jobs like changing piston rings, a clutch, or just a cam belt haven't changed much, have they?
      More and more people seem incapable of changing bulbs in their cars, little own anything else.

    • @philjackson4365
      @philjackson4365 Před 9 lety

      ***** Agreed. "My 15 year old understanding of auto technology is no longer sufficient" is not the same as "Current technology is harder to work with". The skills are different, not harder to acquire.

    That Ford Escort Cabriolet was a sliced lemon. The Alexander Motor Company sounded like a dodgy car dealer. People who cut & shut a car have no regard for the safety of you, your family, your childern or your grand childern all they're interested in a quick buck themselves.
