    What would you do if the steering wheel comes off in your hands? I would stop the car and put the steering whell back on.

      Yeah, but where would you stop? And how would you point yourself in the right direction without a steering wheel?

    1:50 That looks like a frontal overlap crash test. If an Escort that wasn’t a cut and shut performed well in that, it would be as safe as a modern car 😳😳😳😳😳

  • @mattiasjohansson1727
    @mattiasjohansson1727 Před rokem +1

    Without comparing it to a pristine Escort convertible, the test doesn't say all that much. I wonder how much difference it made. ADAC did a very similar test on a Mk4 hatchback and it performed terrible, much like this one TBH and the lack of a roof probably didn't help in this case.

    The Escort cabriolet that was crash tested looks like the choppers glued the windscreen in with Pritt-stick 😂

      Yeah, but she sacrificed it in the name of life-saving research. If not for that, you could have ended up driving a cut and shut car yourself.

    My dad bought a 3 year old Carlton from Mark at Swanwick value Center. Had it inspected by the AA. They said it was a good car. It had 38000 recorded miles on it and he kept it 4 years and put over 80000 more miles on it. It came with no service history and it was £1500 less than any similar car. It was really reliable. His next car was a 3 year old Audi A4 bought approved used. We later found out it had badly repaired body damage. The Carlton probably was clocked but approved Used isn’t perfect either.

  • @richardgraham65
    @richardgraham65 Před 5 lety

    All of the bloody hoops the average motorist has to jump through to keep their cars legal and on the road, tax, MOT insurance maintenance etc. How on earth are these dealers allowed to legally sell a car that has been welded together from two separate vehicles? and how are they allowed to resell an insurance right off without having to disclose the fact? The cards are all stacked against the average driver - and to be honest, I would not trust the AA or the RAC to give a car a thorough inspection even if you did pay them. It should be illegal to sell these cobbled together death traps in the first place. OK, insurance right offs could be sold for parts, but should never be sold as a normal car without the buyer being made aware, and the cut and shut cars should be banned altogether.
