    For cleaning the thermal paste around GPU die, you can use a paint brush or any PCB cleaning brush, soak the paint brush with alcohol then brush on the component until all the thermal paste melt. Put a lint free tissue paper over it and use the paint brush to press it down to soak all the alcohol up.
    Put a new dry tissue on the component and press it down with alcohol soaked brush to dilute and soak up any remaining stain. (This method clean PCB easier and faster). Repeat until clean.

    Steve I absolutely love this channel, but I have a minor criticism. I know its important to promote your merch, but lets be real you can use a piece of paper with some squares on it to keep track of your screws just as easily.

      I would never use a piece of paper (my 4,000 rpm AIO would blow it away, and if it didn't, then the Titan sitting next to it would). I normally just toss all the screws into a magnetic tray and thing "meh, I'll figure it out later". That's bad when you are removing half a dozen GPU coolers in one day... I found out its VERY bad... Thankfully I didn't finish all the cards, so I could just look at the ones that I hadn't touched. The GN mod-mat has anti-static wrist bands too, and I'd actually use that grid for screw layout since it won't move around like paper.

    On the one hand, I don’t mind the VRM and board being the same, because they were already massive overkill. On the other hand, extra memory and a binned chip don’t really justify the price. So, I guess I’m fine with the hardware but annoyed by the price...seems to be a theme for RTX in general.

    I have a NV40 quadro made in Taiwan and another NV40 6800 Ultra made in Korea. The Silicon quality was vastly better on the Taiwanese Quadro, lower voltage and managed a 27% OC. Could only get slight above stock on the geforce counter and it had a higher voltage stock.

    13:05 .... The boards are exactly the same .....So .... If you replace the 1GB Vram modules on a 2080ti , to 2GB's , and flash a titan bios on , it should work ?

    • @user-gi6db4bw2o
      @user-gi6db4bw2o Před 2 lety

      No, K1 on GPU chip stands not only for missing memory module, but for a missing memory channel in chip memory controller itself, so its a maximum of 22 GB and Its a hardware limitation that comes from NVIDIA. With a recent NVIDIA database leak and enough will to dig it up, you actually can make a 22GB 2080 Ti if you are skilled, having proper equipment and prepared enough to do some BGA and reflow soldering processes with heating the PCB from the under too, because its so T H I C C and contains enough copper to dissipate heat very well by itself.

    Hello GN, could you tell me the thickness of the thermal pads used?
    I got mine early 2019 i think, so i'm wondering if it's time to change mine.
    I forgot to jot down temps when new, which is something i have always done with any other card, just so i know roughly when a re-paste and pad change is needed.

      Sorry, no. I did wind up just buying a whole bunch of various Gelid Extreme pads i think, and done it about a month after i made that comment. I didn't even think to write them down sorry.
      However, i'd stick to buying range of pad thicknesses, like from 0.5s, 1s, and 1.5s.
      In my experience, i have never had any problems doing a double layer of 0.5s or adding a 0.5 to a 1.
      It's just going to take putting them on, closing over the blackplate and screwing it down, then opening it back up to see if there is good enough contact between the pads and chips. If there is, then you know you can finish up and close it over properly with those pads. Nothing will be wasted.
      Good luck.
