Hey Frankenstein's Lab! Just want to say I've enjoyed your content and reactions for at least a year now, and I love watching you two enjoy the content that I enjoy as well. The Ricky Gervais show reactions are something I particularly enjoy! Thanks for making my days a little brighter, and I'm sure you're doing the same for others. Big love from Nebraska guys!
In finance, a Monkey is British slang for 500 pounds sterling. The term monkey came from soldiers returning from India, where the 500 rupee note had a picture of a monkey on it. They used the term monkey for 500 rupees and on returning to England the saying was converted for sterling to mean £500. So, as usual, Karl is talking bollocks.
That's bollocks too apparently.. The 500 rupee never had a monkey on it. It is widely believed but is a myth. There was an orangutan on the Indonesian 500 "rupiah" note that also circulated in the 1800's in India hence the confusion. So really a monkey should be an orangutan.
I wouldn't mind going back to when I was 18, second day of college (to avoid having to lug all my stuff up the stairs again on the first day), and living life over from that point forward. So many things I'd do differently! Lol. Just to be young again would be nice. X)
This trio is special 🤣🤣. My one cousin was a jockey and one of his sister's was married to a jockey and then divorced and got married to a different jockey. All of them used to tell us some crazy stories that went down in their world. It takes a special person to race horses! Crazy AF! 🤣🤣🙏✌️
I like how curious you guys are. Love the channel. Keep it up. Definitely would like to hear more of what you have to say before and after the videos, too.
The use of monkeys as jockeys in greyhound races was recorded in Sydney at the Shepherd's Bush Race course in Mascot, in Sydney, Australia, in 1927, and 1928. Monkey jockeys were still being used in greyhound races in Victoria, Australia in 1938 and in Juárez, Mexico until the 1970s.

To be honest, the idea of how much of the body can be taken out without dying is something that came across my mind many times before. And thinking about it know, quite a lot actually. Remove the nose, the eyes, the lips, the teeth, the tounge, the ears the hair, the limps, part of the liver, one kidney, part of the intestine, gull bladder, thyroid gland, tonsils, one hung, few ribs, i mean i could go on.
That Karl's Diary is among the funniest things I've ever heard/seen. I've easily heard it 25 times over the years and I crack up when Stephan does while trying to read it - cuz I know what it says. All the diary stuff is just hilarious. Karl was a genius on those. Top shelf funny. By the way - there's some episode where Karl mentions an elephant but he gets it wrong thinking they don't remember - iirc ;) #backwards
The monkey £500 reference is definitely wrong because that came from the old Indian 500 rupee banknote that had a picture of a monkey on it when India was part of the British Empire. The Indians called their banknote a monkey and the term found its way back to the UK.
Also, as a massive fan (also have a KP tattoo on me )😆 what made me laugh the hardest was when Karl said, so the GANGSTER picked up his £500 winnings 😆😆😆 gangster-£500?? 😆

Ricky Gervais is probably my favorite overall actor, director and creator. His songs as David Brent are hilarious. His band is quite good. The lyrics are so funny.
No its not, there are monkey greyhound jockey races but the reason for that is greyhounds can go around the track easily on there own (and normally do) so the monkey is redundant, its done simply for entertainment purposes and is cruel to both the monkey and the dog. I have no doubt that a monkey could be trained to ride on the back of a horse, but there needs to be weigh in's before the race so the monkey would get found out, secondly a race horse is incredibly sensitive, you need to understand when to swat it how it reacts and so on, a monkey couldn't be trained to do such things, and it certainly wouldn't win against trained jockeys. And the slang word "monkey" for 500 pounds comes from the old Indian 500 rupee notes, which had a monkey on them.
