Ford nailed it. Even now, if I win the lottery I'm buying a used Ford GT over damn near any other super car. It looks and sounds right, which is the most important thing.
What do you mean by still? I think most new modern cars look awful and disgusting, they all look the same and have no artistic style. Old cars looked much better, but this Ford GT does actually look really good, because it is supposed to look like the old GT40.

Your car is a common car, the ford gt is rare. So it is much more impressive to see the rare car with high miles.
@@davidkelley751 From memory the American GT uses an ecoboost engine (which are complete rubbish compared to the Falcon I6 engine). The Barra is also more powerful there are Falcon Barras out there making 1400hp

Besides, the car in the video, and probly Ricks "guy", do not have an Ecoboost engine. Apples and Pineappples on that comparison.
The GT, even with less miles, probly had more exciting "front" seat enjoyment. I would think.
However, "back" seat excitement, hands down, gotta give it the Falcon. Each car has it's hi points.

Alright to be clear the god gt im talking about is the 2005-2007. That one is brute power. The 2017+ is a different animal meant for handling, as Le Mans favored better handling cars over top end speed cars.
That is not a GT40.
The remake is just called "Ford GT".

Producer says 'American cars are heavy and powerful, don't handle well' As I recall this was the car that BEAT the ferrari team at LeMans.
This was not the car that beat Ferrari P type prototypes at Le Mans. That was the GT40 MKII in 1966, an entirely different beast. It cost Ford a huge fortune over 3 years of many failures and the life of a genius to create a car to finally topple Ferrari at Le Mans ‘66 and ‘67.

Theres also the 2016 ford gt40 that handles well and well they dont like to acknowledge corvettes previous dominance in le mans GT class for some reason.
When even "Top Gear" people can't see the diffrence between a GT and a GT40, you know it's over.
I'm stunned if they really didn't know the HUGE difference between the mid 60s GT-40 and the mid 00's Ford GT. I think it was just a gaffe. This IS a sports car show, and the presenters AND producers clearly know a lot about cars, especially considering the GT-40's unbelievable exploits in the 60s at one of the biggest European racing events of all time. Also, Jeremy would've put his 2005 Ford GT on a waiting list more than likely, so I think he knows the difference.
@@patrickmcleod111 Ford was originally going to call it the GT40 but another company that makes replacement parts for them bought the name rights from Ford years before, so Ford would have ended up needing to give them money to license the name.

This reminds me of 1966 Le Mans. The Ferrari were more agile, they handled better than the gt40s, by they lacked the power. The gt40s pulled away on the straights. The same is true here. The Ferrari handled better in the turns, but the sheer power of the American V8 and supercharger gave it the advantage in the straights.

Thing is, this is the Ben Collin stig (The first white stig), but they uploaded it in 2015 (this year). Ben Collins is from 2003-2010.

This is one of those power laps that just makes me beam with pride that the working class hero just walked right up to that Ferrari and punched it in the nose and kicked it down the hill and said "This is the day your aristocracy ends"

That’s something that I love about older cars with softer suspension, they give more. The car feels alive. You can feel when it’s going to give a lot easier than a newer car with stiffer suspension that can bite your leg off at any moment and you’d never know when.

It technically is a GT40 because it's a 2003 concept model and it was sold in 2003 named the GT40.
The concept car was called GT40, the production version was just called the GT.
@@thatfocusguy lol, splitting hairs, I own one and sometimes call it "the gt40", it's the same as the Terminator, it never made it to production called that, but pretty much everyone calls them Terminator Cobras.

The original was also called "Ford GT" back in the '60s. You can hear them saying it in the Le Mans commentaries. And it was even written "Ford GT" on the side stripes.

Not really. It's only a 2 km/h difference, which isn't much of an improvement. lol The old one goes 328 km/h (205 mph).

The new GT is has a higher top speed, more power, improved aerodynamics and is far lighter.

Ford GT40 Power lap it says, but its a Ford GT. A proper GT40 is a classic car from the sixties not this modern remade that doesnt deserve the 40 since its 44 inches high instead of 40. I came here for a proper classic car power lap of an iconic car that was ahead of its time. But i got a power lap of a modern remake that lacks all of that.

This channel has over 100k subscribers, and the Top Gear channel still has well over four million. If these numbers were to drop significantly, you'd be sending a much more effective message to the BBC. Otherwise, if they are still getting your views and the commercial revenue from them, why should they care if you push the dislike button? And yes, I know the commercial revenue is an insignificant part of their budget, but it is the principal that counts.

It means the car is about to get faster to the point where the car suspension is the ground on one end on the left with downforce which push the vehicle down and on the right end which it's lifting up. It's kind of like weight transfer. In other words, it's pushing more power to ground to it's limits.

Perhaps not so much fear of loosing control as just being able to make the corner flat out. The follow through isn't a corner every car can take flat out especially when you get higher up in the horsepower range.

That one is just the GT, it's not a GT40 because it's not 40 inches tall. The 2005 model would actually be a GT44 if it was named like the GT40

Well actually the last time the Fords raced Ferrari at Le Mans in 2019 Ferrari won the GTE class that both manufacturers race in.
Ford have now pulled out of sportscar racing so they will not be beating Ferrari in anything meaningful, anytime soon.
