I'm glad he clarified that Hammond is quick witted and funny off camera, I was starting to get confused.
I feel you. There are hints of the funny quick witted Hammond through out old Top Gear usually during the news segment. Just wish he would let that side of him out more often.

Well he plays a character of the over the top dippy one. I think james may is pretty close to his persona on top gear but the other two seem to be more characters rather than their actual personality

@@ResonantRTS I'm not sure about that. Jame's character is the old slow fuddy duddy. But he mentioned on Drivetribe recently he doesn't like old cars, he doesn't own any and most of his cars are electric now. And he's messing around on Food Tribe making sandwiches for a fairly small audience. Also he bought a pub and it's all modern looking with posh food. None of which matches his Top Gear character I think.

@3-7-77 Hammond stopped regular drinking when he turned 40, he only drinks casually now. James and Jeremy still drink regulary to this day.
Those two are "high functioning alcoholics! Let us not forget that "drunk hippie" bested Gordon Ramsay in the kitchen, while constantly slurping on the wine he was supposed to use for cooking!

Im from Costa Rica, i grow up with no friends and so, my grandpa had cable tv and every time i went to his house i used to watch BBC cus i really like how they sound (the accent) and most of the time i was watching Top Gear and even tho at the time i didnt understand what they were saying i loved the cars, now days im rewatching the old seasons of Top Gear. Thxs boys.

It's a simple case of mishearing 'nam' , but truly amazing is assuming that when they first met they remembered something that would only happen many years later..

What ever people say, Jeremy was THE driving force behind Top Gear. It was the ONLY show I looked forward to watch on Australian national tv.

I can't find the correct words to express how devastated I will be when the day of their retirement comes. They shaped my childhood.
I’m sure they’ll die before that happens. They seem like passionate people who will do what they love till the end. They’re already old and rich enough to retire of they wanted
These guys shaped my entire life. I watched just too much Top Gear when I was choosing my profession, I got into the business and it's been a wild ride since.
@@0741921 I'm sure that they won't die before they retire. I don't think it's even possible to do it in that order. Dead people are far too busy being dead, to retire. They have initials to whisper into people's ears, and specs of dust to appear as in photos.

The irony is that James May is the keystone person in the series. Still has the best most active career and is the nicest, funniest, realest person of the trio.
There has to be a "straight man" in this sort of comedy to work best, and he's the best at it.
I can't think of anyone else who could hold my attention so easily with a show concept like "The Reassembler" Fascinating how he makes THAT so watchable.

it might be at least half true because even by watching James and Oz big wine adventure series you ca nclearly see he has problems with alcohol.

I'm nearly 40 now and grew up watching Jezza and read most of his books. He's like the cool uncle I never had and will always be a legend in my eyes. Just wish that Amazon would hurry up with the Madagascar episode. Thank you Jeremy and to Richard and James for the many, many years that you've kept me entertained.

Clarkson, Hammond, and May are just lighting in a bottle, it’s clear just how much they love working together, especially during that time when Clarkson got fired both Hammond and May immediately left the BBC to stick by their friend, I love how one reporter during that time actually asked James who he would want to work with on Top Gear now that Jeremy was gone and May replied “As much I think he’s a knob I quite like working with Jeremy” that in a nutshell is the perfect description of their friendship, I’m glad it’s not an Opie and Anthony thing where it seems like they enjoy it but off camera they hate each other
I think what I like most about the 3 of them is the chemistry they have... every series they've filmed feels like 3 best friends being filmed and all the antics that might entail
I can’t name 3 people I admire or respect more. I’ve grown up with them, and they almost feel like family😂😂

They have brought laughter to many a life who watched their shows! Legends!!

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May were possibly the best group together when it comes to cars. They each bring a different perspective to the table and their on screen chemistry is second to none. Jeremy Clarkson has truly created a show that is HIM. There will never be another and the BBC continuation of Top Gear is NOT the same. Was so glad Amazon continued with the Grand Tour and hope the old boys have a few years left. Truly amazing group of guys, film crew, and locations they did. Best to all the cast and crew.

Thank god, I have a collection of their shows on dvd. So even though their shows are at an end, I can still have a great time watching them

I like to think they’re like any accidental best friends , they pretend they hate each other and love pricking on one another but deep down they all absolutely cherish each other’s existence.

I'm really sad that "The News" or "Conversation Street" is no more. More than the cars, the banter and audience interaction would make my house cleaning Sundays uplifting.
Amazon has specific time mark indicators, and something like 78% of people skipped passed conversion street haha
The main thing is the interaction between the three and their antics. For me the lamest part of Top Gear or The Grand Tour was any serious car reviews. Just put these guys in scenarios that will bring out their banter or frustrate them. Either what you're talking about, or when they put them in pieces of crap and send them on a fool's errand - often pranking each other along the way. That's when these guys are entertaining. So ditch any serious reviews and do all specials as they're doing, or just have them sitting together and talking. They're going all-specials now, maybe because they're still young enough to do it, once they're too old for that we can just watch them sitting in a nursing home talking nonsense.

As a South African, I can confirm this is absolutely true, to the point where I'm not sure if he's taking the mickey or being completely serious.
It is once in a lifetime we get people like this, each one is unique, really talented in many different ways, so I bless them all, and thank them for what they have given to us!

It's interesting as Jeremy references the Boliva death road episode, that was terrifying on screen as I image in real life, these guys push it.
Jeremy Clarkson, Hammond and May are national treasures, clearly demonstrating that a man's word is his bond.
The lads always take the time to say nice things about each other. It's all about the chemistry they are definitely friends

You can see that May is the actual better friend
They seem to have very similar personalities, actually. Jeremy is just more outgoing is all.

The thing that makes it work is that they’re never out of character if a camera is rolling... squeaky Hammond and boring May. I’m sure their conversations together are different when away from lenses, and that these blokes really love each other at heart which is very rare in today’s world.
Jeremy, you are super funny too! Definitely 1 of my favourite tv personalities. Certainly miss all 3 of you guys. But thanks for the great times I had watching you guys over the decades.

Loved their show because it was enjoyable for car-enthusiasts, and people that couldn't care less. The whole show was packed with humor.
I'm grateful to all 3 and the team, they've superbly entertained us over many years! Let's face it. There is no where near enough car content on TV

I'm always watching the re - runs of Top Gear and never get tired of them. I still laugh at their antics, especially with the Top Gear Specials.

Proof that May is the genius behind the scenes who comes up with the concepts and majority of scripts. Kinda like Neil Peart from Rush writing all the lyrics.
I would give anything to just sit in a room with the three of them and just thank them for being a core part of what has been my interest in cars over the past 20 years
God bless this trio, most entertaining trio of friends ive ever had the pleasure of watching. not much of a traveler but if i ever make it over to Britain it would be a mini dream come true to sit down and have a beer with any of these guys, they're living legends.

Such a great interview. Glad to hear they don't actually hate each other. at least that he's aware of. May though you can tell on camera he doesn't appear to like the Clarkson and Hammond as much any more nor like doing the show. But if they actually are still good friends to this day thats great to hear.
