The UK’s New Sixth-Generation ‘Tempest’ Fighter Jet Project

  • This is an exclusive look at the development of the UK’s next-generation fighter jet at BAE systems.
    The ‘Tempest’ jet project is a joint collaboration between the UK, Italy and Japan. The sixth-generation fighter jet will incorporate AI which adapts and learns from the pilot. This will potentially allow the plane to fly itself in the case of a pilot blackout.
    BAE says the jet will have to be ready to incorporate future technologies that haven’t even been invented yet.
    The Tempest jet is set to slowly replace the UK’s current fleet of Eurofighter Typhoon jets from 2035 onwards.Subscribe here: bit.ly/ODNsubs

      @@Nate_wright The U.S. and the U.K. Are strong mutual military allies. The U.S. has produced two 5th generation stealth fighter aircraft, the F-22 and the F-35, Not to mention the F-117 Nighthawk . As well as the B-2 STEALTH BOMBER and THE stealthier B-21 RAIDER. The “Tempest” would be the U.K.’s First fully “home grown” “stealth” aircraft of not only 5th generation stealth aircraft technology but, would be a “6th Gen stealth Aircraft and the first truly “stealth” aircraft from the U.K. I’m showing solidarity between two great military powers and honoring the UK’s push towards homegrown stealth aircraft design. Not really sure wtf your problem is… We are allies and the U.K. Owns and operates a fleet of F-35 B aircraft used as a replacement for the STOVL capabilities of the Harrier jump jet and the American Made F-35B is the country’s first 5th Gen aircraft operated on U.K. Aircraft Carriers and smaller STOVL / Heli-carriers. Don't think so we have about 30% of British parts in the F35s and that's what we are buying now. But totally agree the USA is still ordering new F15 , F16 and F18 aircraft for their military for decades to come. Yet Europe remains obsessed with having a few Gen 5 aircraft it can't afford and we might even be able to afford a Gen 6 Tempest when they are finished . We might even break the bank and get 2 . We could even just get Gripens , Everyone knows who we need them against and Gripens are still superior. Just like the USA cancelled it's F22 program and just moved onto Gen 6 research because Russia and China have nothing to trouble them and they obviously believe Gen 4 upgrades are perfectly capable for their world needs . Obviously we can never buy french though .

      Except that the UK has provided a lot of the expertise and equipment to the F35 project being the only tier 1 partner in the consortium! You clearly have no idea that the UK has a long and proud history in aviation innovation going back to the famous Spitfires in WW2,to the invention of the jet engine which we gave the technology to the Yanks btw in exchange for hard currency as Britain was broke after WW2,right through to Concord,the world's first and only supersonic passenger plane and the Harrier jump jet the world's first VTOL aircraft.So in a nutshell,not only will Tempest be a success but we will get it into the air quicker than the Americans!😂

    • @Playa566
      @Playa566 Před 3 měsíci

      @eyeofthetiger6002 we've came a long way since the days of the Spitfire etc which wasn't the most spectacular air platform for the time. I'm very much aware of our partnership of which the UK is one our most valued partners. However doesn't mean such a program will be successful as none have been without the United States involved. Production will be limited and an inferior air platform will be the result. Was a waste of money and resources the UK often does this and never learns. The jet engine was already known about your talking about the country that first invented nuclear weapons and had not spys from other countries been in the program doubtful those countries would have been successful to later have nuclear weapons themselves. The point is the scale of such projects the UK has greatly let its military rot away to a level that's not even sufficient to defend the country. Much less produce a 6th generation fighter its going to be a failure in a long list of them. Which then the UK gives up then buys American platforms and there's that money wasted yet again. Together we can produce some really capable platforms and the United States shares its top technology with the UK one of the only nations it Chooses to do so.

      @@Playa566 dude, first off the US doesn't have a monopoly on technology and however much you want to deny it,GE,Pratt and Whitney wouldn't exist today had Britain not shared its jet technology with you guys,it wasn't well known technology,in fact no country had a working jet engine apart from the UK,stop trying to rewrite history! This is an excerpt from GE's own website about the production of its first jet engine....."The U.S. War Department and Army Air Corps had commissioned GE to rebuild and commercialize a British jet engine, known as the Whittle engine after its designer, Royal Air Force officer Frank Whittle.
      The government selected GE for the project because of its knowledge of high-temperature metals needed to withstand the heat inside the engine and for its expertise in building turbines for power plants and turbosuperchargers for high-altitude bombers." The work was supervised by Sir Frank Whittle himself and his team of engineers. Britain has never bought ANY American fighter jets in its history, from the Spitfires,the Vulcan bombers, the Tornados, Harriers, Eurofighter Typhoons which are all either all British or a European/British joint projects until now with the F35B which is a US/UK joint project in the main with others in the consortium making minor contributions. The Tempest will be another successful British collaboration with Italy just like the Toronto fighters and the Eurofighter Typhoons except this time it's a first time collaboration with Japan. So, yes we are perfectly capable of producing our own fighter jets without Uncle Sam's help,thank you very much!😂

      @@Playa566 dude,you can't be serious. The UK can't successfully produce the 6th generation fighter without Uncle Sam's help?!🤣 Until the F35B collaboration with the US,the UK has NEVER before bought any US fighter jets as all of our fighters are either solely produced by the UK like the Harriers or it's a collaboration with our former EU partners like Germany, Italy and Spain for the Eurofighter Typhoons currently our frontline fighters and bombers or Germany and Italy for our Tornado fighters now retired. And as for the jet engines the inventor was a gentleman called Sir Frank Whittle and I can assure you he's 100% British.😂 Don't worry, the Tempest will be successfully built with our partners Italy and for the first time Japan without Uncle Sam's help just like all of our fighters before!
