  • What does it mean to be an active citizen? It's about more than just voting and paying taxes, says social entrepreneur Gabriel Marmentini. He explains why we can't rely on the state alone to solve all our problems - and presents the four key ingredients for anyone to become a change-maker and engage in solving public issues.

    Gabriel é um dos maiores militantes de causas sociais do Brasil, o "Politize!" é uma relevante ferramenta de mudança cívico-educacional atualmente. Parabéns amigo!

    This is an excellent way to think about citizenship. ✨We all have work to do first in our own communities and that branches out to the world. ❤thank you for sharing your knowledge and perspectives.

    It's absolutely true. Being a teacher, when I ask my students if they are interested in politics, no hands go up. This knowledge is very very essential. Totally agree with you.

    Excellent.
    Unfortunately, as I see it, individualism in Brazil is way more ingrained than knowing and understanding political parties, etc
    Here is a basic example: You enter a house in Brasil and the inside of the house is very clean and organized. You step out of that house and the sidewalks and the streets could be filthy. The individual living in that house do not consider themselves a citizen of the community. I could go on and on.
    I think your project needs to be presented at the federal or state department of education. Citizenship needs to be taught in primary school.
    Congratulations for your work and good luck.
    By the way, what do you mean by “see you on the other side”?

    If the government doesn't deliver, then the citizens have to. Sad, really. But it looks like it's unfortunately necessary.

      It's an unfortunate result, but it will allow people to recognize how powerful and impactful they can be by being an active part of their city. And not depend so much on governments.

    Excellent. Very reminiscent of the political system in the Starship Troopers universe. Not everyone should be citizens, only those educated and understanding of responsibility.

    • @Betweoxwitegan
      @Betweoxwitegan Před 18 dny +2

      Do you mean not everyone should be a citizen or not everyone should vote? Everyone should be a citizen of a country they're born in or have ties to in some capacity and I believe every citizen should have a vote, technocracies can work though.

    • @StigHelmer
      @StigHelmer Před 17 dny +1

      @@Betweoxwitegan IMO: People who serve the country, pay taxes and are lawful are citizens and have a right to vote.
      The general lefty person should not be able to vote. Munching of other peoples hard work, laziness and decadency should be discouraged. Sure, allow them to exist but with no say.
