Because your health information is the only data they didn't have.
Exactly!!!!!!
This depresses me cause it's true
Coalminds.com absolutely on point.
Lol
@@bernardlebelo742 I wouldn’t say it’s the same thing. You can just use Fitbit without the app. And they don’t know who’s data it is; it’s not like you’re uploading your private information.
Data..lots of lots of health data
At last a useful comment
urg. i’ll have to copy over my data and delete it before the Google beast gets hold of my heartrate. Looks like i’ll be in the market for an Apple Watch soon (£££ and shitty battery life, boo)
Am i the only one who read this comment using trump's iconic delivery?
I’d be more concerned about where the devices are assembled.
1. If Apple iPhones sales are down, then Apple watches go down too.
2. Apple Watches are complementary to iPhone.
3. Fitbits are niche market. Class of its own.
4. Fitbit is more of a fitness tracker. Apple Watch is more all around.
@tommy aronson But he really didn't lied, ofcourse Google will make it's watch more like complementary phone just like apple watch but the truth is if apple watch sales go down, all the others go too because even if Google's watch is really revolutionary they still probably won't be as useful and verticality connected as Apple watches but it can really compete with Samsung and Xiaomi but knowing how Google's brand is weak (Everybody knows the Google brand but most people haven't even heard about Google's devices at least where I live) outside US is hard to imagine a case where Google competes with brands that are everywhere
@tommy aronson i bet his cheap ass cant even afford SAMSUNG lol...wear os based watches is SHIT compared to the SAMSUNG GEAR ...only Samsung is a credible alternative to apple
Fossil bought Misfit, not Google
I have been a Fitbit user since they released one of their first devices (the Fitbit flex). I’ve bought the flex, charge, surge, blaze, ionic, & then Versa. However, I switched to Apple Watch & deleted all my data when Google acquired them. Google is truly evil when it comes to data privacy.
Because Apple is an angel right?
@@youbian better than Jewgle
@@censoredbyyoutubeagain4569 google is owned by Jews?
I'm planning on buying a fitbit because Google owns it now. I like all my data existing in the google ecosystem.
Trust over Fitbit is lost if Google buying it .
It was already lost when they bought pebble.
They bought it.
Fitbit already a FitShit ever since they bought pebble. Fitbit is a lazy company. good luck google.
Wait till they buy the department of justice and acquires the data of the people in the witness protection program
I love Fitbit.
But I don’t like the sound of this at all.
Fitbit was one of the few lone good companies.
Whether or not google worsens them, their brand value has taken a dip for me.
Boooo.
I love the idea of being able to use Google Assistant and Googe Pay on my fitbit...
@@ukiyo7795 What you said.
Here's why Google is buying SnitchBit.
0:22 "This seems to me about the Apple watch.." No! You think so?
It looks more about a competition with the samsung watch...android owners dont buy apple watches
j s Actually, I work at an apple store, you’d be surprised 😅
@@nayeemkhalil6612 Lol really? ..i mean i have a samsung galaxy s8 myself, and i wanted to buy the apple watch, but didn't after a friend bought a note 8 and a series 3 watch , but most of the functionality didn't work on the note 8 and vice versa..my samsung gear s3 watch is the best watch for android owners as i tested every damn option alternative to samsung and they all SUCKED! - BIG TIME!
@@nayeemkhalil6612 what are u saying
What’s on your wrist? Burrrrnn! lol
Hardly
very happy about all this, i buy 10,000 shares at 2.90.. yahoooo!!
Wear OS needs this. Great move Google
Yes!
@tommy aronson Lol they still will have a hard time trying to even compete with apple on this market
Wear os is shit...samsung is the only alternative to apple
Google should resurrect pebble os from the grave. Still my favorite smartwatch.
This is my opinion. Apple has become a luxury brand. Wearing watches was a fashion statement. The only way google or any other company can complete is to not complete. Apple had siri for years, but was overruled by amazons alexa. Being able to come up with products that define its company is crucial For example when I think google I think knowledge. This is because If I need to know anything is one search away.
1:30 “no better company than fitbit, maybe Garmin”. Two different markets - smart watch vs workout watch. As a triathlete, Garmin doesn’t compete against iwatch - there are enough in the Garmin space. They are the top dog on quality health/workout data
Google’s last successful innovation is chrome browser and Android. That was 10 years ago. Android wear came before Apple watch. Remember the craze about smart watch with round face. At that time Apple just released their first gen Apple watch which was so buggy and slow. Fast forward 4 years Apple watch is THE SMART WATCH. Where is Android wear now?
I just bought a fitbit Jesus I hate google. The government should have kept this from happening
1:02 Actually, yes. I have seen one lately. And I hear about them all the time. I just seen one today. Galaxy Watches are really popular and you can't act like they aren't.
Yes they are and I am a happy owner. So are many android users. I would think though I have not seen any data yet, Samsung smart wearables will pick up more market share for 2019. If you're not in Apple ecosystem, Samsung Galaxy wearables are the only competition.
Damn it. I got a fitbit to strictly stay away from Google. Now I’m forced to go get an Apple watch. 😭 But fitbit was perfect for me.
Wears OS is so buggy and lags. Apple watch don't have those issues! However battery will be a big bonus for Fitbit.
I'm not a huge fan of kamsutra I
People have left Android for Apple because of security and overall app stability not because of the watch.
People leave for MANY reasons
@@DamianLewd Of course, in fact I can give many reasons but my comment is a direct response to her saying people have left Android for iPhone for the watch. I'm pretty sure she also knows there are many reasons people leave. Most of the time is due to better security, apps running better and ease of use.
Android has over 86% of the market. Let that sink in.
@@79bnice Everyone is fully aware of that, in fact I'm part of the Android market. But that doesn't change the fact that Android still lose and gain users to and from iPhones and when it does loses those users is usually to the issues I mentioned before.
Joanna Stern just killing it.
Same reason amazon bought whole foods, data
Why does Google always take forever to get into the hardware game?
Like Apple is any different
@@DamianLewd apple single handedly "created" the mp3, smartphone and tablet industry. Before them none of this stuff was popular or even worked very well. Google has been playing catch-up ever since. This is coming from a person that has never owned an apple product.
@@JJs_playground That's its so true even thought they are the only company with the power of doing OS, they are also soo weak in doing hardware products and now that they are starting to invest more in this area they still make major errors of distribution and the overall product, the new Pixel came worst than the previous one with a price that could buy a Samsung or a iPhone, and finding where to buy it outside US is harder than buying a phone that comes from China. This new watch better be a real big thing if they plan on becoming big on this market
@@JJs_playground we at Google sometimes ourselves dont know what we're doing. It's so big and hard to get things approved and done
@@sneezygibz6403 really? I thought Google was a fairly agile company. I didn't think it would be bogged down by processes and bureaucracy
I have a fit bit and an iPhone lol

Apple Watch works so well because of thee horizontal use and interface d
why didn't they acquire garmin?
What ever happened to the Samsung watch?
They became better
Dissipated.
What happened to it? It's still selling
No
@@danm4320 the battery sucks after a month.
This deal should be denied...
@tommy aronson Your mom should have taught you proper grammar.
I have a samsung watch, it's great. Glad to see your analysis is based on actual data ...
How's the battery after 6months?
Is Google going to COPPA Fitbit too lol
They need that eco system to even have a chance to compete with Apple in any market
You do you realize that Android has an 85% market share in the mobile phones market worldwide right? 🙄
Next they will buy AOL
Lol....
Let's make a company and sell them that
Health insurance
Google is too late. Too many smartwatches now to compete with that can do all fitbit does.
Americans are a different market and they view the world from their myopic American view. Apple's iOS atypically holds about 50% market share in the US even though globally, the Android market share is over 80%. Smart wearables are a nascent market, give some more time and globally it may well be a repeat of windows vs Mac or android vs iOS history. One company cannot fight an industry.
We must riot
If they can make it for Fitbit to track people temperatures and make a deal whit the government we the public could know if theres any one whit probability of them having covid19 on our phone app fit tracker, you think Fitbit could make this, posible? Fit bit hit me up I have ideas
Google wants to jump in the smartwatch market cause their Android Wear failed.
I like my Fitbit, now greedy a** Google is going to screw it up.
Missed out on this deal... What could be the next acquisition target? GoPro?
GoPro was gobbled up by Disney

So what's on your wrist?

That's why I use a Garmin watch, a proper fitness watch with a 1 week or more battery life
Watches you don’t need to give you information you never thought you wanted. Waste of money.
smart watch market share
apple 46.4%
samsung 15.9%
fitbit 9.8%
others 27.9%
apple 46.4%??? Lol, where did you find that statistics?
Google has too much data ... I will be scared if they acquire anything that is made well. The future is the internet of things .... Google assistant is number one in AI ... imagine if it knew your health data
collect more data
They all missed one thing, brand loyalty, Fitbit users all went to Apple watch already, even if google owns Fitbit i think they're prestige and uniqueness has been burnt out, no one wants a fitbit anymore that costs close to an apple watch and it will always be the inferior product "why didnt you get the apple watch instead?"
Google has Chromecast, Google Pixel. So hardware is not something new.
We all know that. This video is talking about wearables, which is new for Google.
Wear OS has been around for Google but the truth is no other hardware watch maker has come close to competing so Google is doing what it did for the pixel which is to put out a mainstream device that has solid ground for the rest of the ecosystem to survive.
Fitbit is not even close to SAMSUNG
Joanna is SO much better than most of your other technology thought leaders
This is why my fitbit is in garbage can. FU Google
FitBit is now dead in the water. E-Bay will be over run with used FitBits.
Peter Mitchell Why?
tommy aronson like you on every comment in the comments...surprised you didn’t call him some form of farm animal smh
Coming soon to the Google Graveyard...
Bad deal I bought mine for 60 dollars
Apple always leads
Cant believe people are buying into watches.......
