Personally I feel Conte's tactics are being underrated, and most observers have too much faith in Tuchel. With a lower center of gravity and more muscle mass, Conte could more easily attack the body and strike a decisive blow against the lanky German.
Haha you had me in the first half...
Lanky German has more reach it only takes one swing
I mean Tuchel did dominate him and with a decent scorer the scoreline would have been larger with the Kai Havertz miss and Mount misses on the left all in the second half
Absolutely not. You could see his pace running down the wing. He could utilize that speed. His superior reach as well would give him an advantage.
Also, did you see that staredown at the full time handshake? The Italian was completely terrified, Tuchel's got the mental advantage
@@sollymadeit would you say havertz has been a failure at Chelsea so far
It’s a big step that spurs can make 4-5 subs and not see a big drop in quality. Those summer additions really strengthened the depth in the squad

It’s comforting to know that Sterling will still fire his close range shots straight over the bar no matter the kit, manager, or system. I am at ease
He’s certainly consistent
It's a hard finish to be fair mate. He can't shoot low because he has 3 defenders around him, and Lloris is already covering the middle, so he had to try and go top bins
Cause he's a decent player, but only in a perfect system.
@@daniel5534 I agreed, I don't think he's amazing,but still.
He was trying to smash it in the roof
Really interesting that the tactical switch of Spurs moving to a 4-2-4 to get a goal was also the reason they conceded the 2nd goal. Son was too far forward when Spurs lost the ball, and Sterling simply dropped off into an empty midfield, leading to a pass to James to score
I would be interested to see spurs using a 4-2-4 however maybe one of those 2 CM back as almost a CDM or CB while the rest of the team attack almost making a 4-1-3 but one of those 3 knowing when to apply pressure and when not
@@jamescheffins7127 what is a 413? Ur missing players?
@@NA-kp6kv my bad I mean a 6-1-3
@@jamescheffins7127 want to see a 6-1-3? Watch back Spurs Vs Liverpool from the end of last season. Attack Vs defense and virtually no midfield link to be found
Another thing to note is seeing Perisic stripped and ready to come on just before Chelsea score their second. So Conte might have been going to make the change back to 343 anyway maybe to prevent situations like that as well as how they used it to get the equalizer
"Spooked by Romero" - JJ Bull 08/22
With what we faced last season as a fan the last thing I want to hear is "if they had lukaku".
“Cucurella’s been spooked by Romero” that’s one way to say yanked down by his hair

I find it pathetic when tifo doesn't shout out how non sportsman/woman like this is. Ridiculous.

For once no constant manager rotation in the forseeable future for Chelsea. Same for Tottenham and Arsenal on the up. Add City and Liverpool and youve got Pep,Klopp, Tuchel, Conte. Some of the best managers in the world with good squads, and an on the up manager In Arteta with Arsenal. What a 30th anniversary
I'm a spurs fans, so I'd love Conte to stay, but his history betrays the fact that it's unlikely he'll stay too long tbh.
@@nathanmclean3086 you've still got 2 seasons of him before things turn to sour, don't worry
Rodgers, Potter, Moyes are above than Arteta. Dont forget them.
I wouldn't be so sure with Tuchel. He fell out with the board at BVB, and did the same at PSG. You already saw the signs of tension this pre-season. Besides, when was the last time a manager at Chelsea managed to go more than 2 seasons without winning the Prem?
EDIT on Sept. 7th: LMAO I'm a visionary
@@edenhazard2751 In terms of experience yes. But Arteta has more trophies than Moyes. I'd say they are at the same level, Artetas potential is high.

Love the speedy post-match analysis. Keep these going!
Judging by the recent spike in views and subscribers, I have no doubt they will. Tifo IRL having a well deserved second wind
So Loftus Cheek was a Inverted Wing Back on support or attack, and James was a Wide Centre Back on attack. Got it.
He's a right winger on attack wdym? There's only 2 CBS when they have possession
Just taking notes, eh?
Prepare to try this in FM and get trashed!
I can't get RLC to turn into a proper wing back in FM lol, tried it after this game to little success.
I would have loved to hear more about Tuchel's decision to have James man-mark Son. He followed him into midfield a bunch and pretty much took him out of the first half. Changes the defensive shape too.
Referee masterclass
you forgot to mention Bissouma coming on for Bentancur - which, apart from the fact he ended up almost immediately having an impact (and a shot at goal) it was also tactically sound for the fact that Bentancur was getting emotional and in danger of being sent off
Interesting formations, but I actually wanted to see a daring 1-2-1-2-1-1-2-1 from Tuchel, would have been interesting to see Conte's response.
Lmaooo shitposting of the highest quality 🔥
Bissouma not even on the tactics board Mr Bull 😵 brilliant analysis however as always!
Hopefully a future rivalry on par with Pep and Klopp. Can see City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs being the nailed on top 4 if these managers stay.

4-2-5 AT up front 🔥
@@reflected7570 what? No goalkeeper? That's crazy
tuchel won the tactics game, again. his customized tactics are crazy. probably why he is so good at champions league. conte is stronger mentally. and it rubs off onto his players. three players could have scored that final header. changing to a 4222 was a big gamble but it was fun to watch. maybe conte will have them change from 343 to a 4222 mid game without changing players in the second half of the season. a lot of controversial calls. would love to hear the var conversations but couldn't find them.
love these vids!
4:10 City were actually using a similar tactic last season on their corners. They'd put Rodri on the front post, with Dias and Laporte along the six yard box. Mahrez hovered outside the far post, just outside the box. That gave the corner taker (usually KDB) several options. He could deliver to the near post for Rodri to either go for goal or flick the ball on, he could go deeper into the box looking for Dias or Laporte, or dink it into the edge for Mahrez to hit it on the volley.
Fantastic work JJ. You are very good at these post-match analyses.
Nice analysis. You could look at how Spurs' defensive shape was so poor throughout the period of 4 at the back. This was shown in several good attacks for Chelsea at this time. Conte was trying to get Perisic subbed on at the time of the goal - it was too late... and as Romero, Dier & Davies were still playing their back 3 roles, without the position of LWB on the pitch, that's how the overload worked for Chelsea's goal.
Did you rush at the end a bit and forgot the sub of Bissouma who added more attacking threat.?
LOVE this!!!! You are awesome!!! Always enjoy your content!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Love your commentary !!
Conte step by step taking the Spursyness out of Spurs - incredibly impressive work.
I love the face of JJ Bull in the morning.
This was in incredible match, and an amazing analysis too! Honestly you don't notice these things during the game, but in retrospect it's clear that both managers are tactical masterminds and their changes and decisions were nothing if not well thought-out.

Personally i really enjoyed the tactical battle from this match, substitutes changes the way of the game from one side to the other. Unfortunately for Chelsea though.
I didn't see Anthony Taylor getting substituted. He was spurs man of the match
Also, Anthony Taylor tactics
I'm tired of supposed Chelsea fans saying Tuchel has no tactical flexibility. When the players buy in, he can give them many advantages
It's the haters agenda and some stupid who follows.

Great work tifow
I thought the way Tuchel used Loftus Cheek was fascinating. I've never seen a manager bring the RWB inside to act as a third midfielder and then have the right centerback move up the wing. I hope we see more of that because it really made Chelsea look so much better!

Thank you so much for explaining Chelsea's midfield structure to me.
I'd love it if you guys did an analysis of how Brentford set up for attacking set pieces.
I'm not sure if it's some thing they do every game but against Man Utd they would regularly set up to do one thong, then late on visibly swap to doing something very different. It was remarkable how much that confused Man Utds defense.
tifo this year is on another level
Fantastic analysis. Much better than Sky and MOTD!
100%... although also not that difficult to be better than SKY and MOTD.
As a Spurs fan...I wasn't angry at the first goal. Koulibali had to volley a worldie first time to get a goal. But the 2nd goal was a complete breakdown of form/shape. Lessons to be had
You weren't angry that a giant CB was left unmarked from a corner? Intresting...
In fairness, he had enough time and space to take a touch to bring it down and then shoot, just didn't want to as it was there to be hit.
@@bobsquashv2742 2nd goal is worse compare to 1st goal due to literally large free space for reece james
Emerson was running towards him. Only had time for a volley. It was a worldie and I'm OK with that. You can't mark all the runners on the edge of the box with zonal marking. It'll lead to an amazing volley once in a blue moon.

I just liked the "fight" at the end. I called it after the second goal.
Interesting that Tuchel set up Chelsea exactly the same as Hasenhuttle set up Southampton against Spurs.
You forgot to take off Bentancur for Bousuma
JJ, you are the best ❤️
The tricky thing about 4-2-2-2 is that you need pacy strikers to enable the press to function very difficult system to pull off but kudos to Tuchel for catching Tottenham off guard with it. If I recall correctly Southampton blew spurs away with that formation last season so perhaps Tuchel took a bit of inspiration from that game.
Tuchel pretty much used the same setup against Conte in the previous season using Ziyech as a WB/ right sided 10. This is conte being a bit rigid from the start
JJ, you are the best
Can someone explain why chelsea are focusing on crosses with sterling as the striker
Of all the tactic analysis channel out there, this one is the easiest one to understand.
Let's not be biased, Chelsea got good quality, creative and flexible players which Spurs yet to match. The gap is there partly because there is a big spending gap also over the years Tactics were good from both sides

Have to admit that Tuchel completely outclassed Conte today. Tottenham almost did not even see the ball.
Conte is not a possession coach nor does he have like 2 decent playmakers in his team. And one of them is a shite version of Benzema.
It was a tactical win but Tuchel has better Wingback players and MF which kinda nullfies Spurs' strength. Conte had to work with what he got.

in first half chelsea defended as a 424 with reece and Jorginho in the middle. Kante and Mount would press up and havertz and sterling on the wing.

Tuchel should have an advantage given he is nosferatu.
Spurs are relying too much on long overhead or long ground passes. Within 1 or 2 good passes they look to start a counter attack. They need to build their game better, which they will achieve as the squad plays more with each other and understand each other like kane and son do
