excellent footage, love the sound of the dyno's into Woodend station
Been for a fair few rides on the Ns they are a good loco.. i like the way it has the horn lever on both sides of the cab too
milk and cookies!!
Looks like a great job driving an N class
Great clip, thanks for posting, Steve.
Cheers
love the dynos!
Thanks Steve!
top vid!
Wikipedia gives a run down on them if you Google V/Line N Class. Their maximum allowable speed in service is 115 km/h.
I hope if I ask for a cab ride they will let me. Probably won't but it's worth a try next time I go on an n class
😂😂😂😂
Yep.
No worries.
Oh cool
The loco's that lift ( pull) the Ghan, are they NR CLASS?
Yea, NR class.
Yea.
Cool, were you in the cab filming
Awesome vid!
Question about the brake operation, didn't see a bail off on the independent after the initial reduction on the auto brake. Is that because this brake mode doesn't apply on the loco?
Was already in dynamic, so the independent is locked out.
@@emd645e3c ahh okay thanks!
Would the independent usually be bailed off with just a train brake reduction?
How'd you score a cab ride you lucky duck? :)
These turbocharged EMDs sound quite different to the earlier supercharged ones.
probably drives it
Do you know the driver?
Question, at 1:54 your dumping air?
That's the sound of the flow meter as the brake pipe recharges.
What type of locomotive is the N class? What is top speed?
mdavid1955 130 to 135 kilometres per hour... I think
It is 115-130 kilometres per hour, the ones with upgraded traction motors do 130, the rest do 115 (most of them have upgraded traction motors)
mdavid1955 they are not allowed to do 130 though as the carriages are limited to 115
Slack conductor didn't clear the platform
Would have thought the local services where enough to service Woodend and let the Swan Hill go through as an express
2.10 you can hear the conductor
Woodend.
Why did the diver turn off the lights off and turn they back on
