I see these flights all the time while driving on the BQE, I495, and I 678. I sometimes look at Flightradar24 to see where they're coming from. That approach was right on the money.
From the sound of the altitude callout, I would say the ground effect of the flare out was just "how you do that"! Beautifully done, gentlemen.👍 I make sure to give recognition to the flight crew when I have flown.
GREAT VIDEO! Thanks So Much For Sharing It With Us. Such A Different View That We As Passengers Just Don't Get To See. So Thanks Looking Forward To Seeing More,
For a minute, thought you were going straight in on Runway 4. My favorite into LGA is Hudson River Visual onto 22. Best view of Manhattan when the weather is a flat clear.
The approach starts out along LGA225 (VOR or ILS RWY4) to cross JFK317 (DIALS) at 2500MSL or above (4:25), then right heading 085 along the LIE to overfly the Parkway interchange (5:45), then left turn to final. NOTE: This path is based on charts published for AIRAC 1302 (Jan 10 to Feb 7, 2013).
If I'm gonna guess, with the trim wheel sound, the southern accents, the lack of automatic altitude callouts im gonna say this is good ol Southwest... am I right ?
Great video and great landing. This approach overflies two of my old neighborhoods; near Prospect Park in Brooklyn and near Corona in Queens just before landing. Are the two white tanks at 4:15 checkpoints?
And the late 2000s at about the time American announced buying US airways I was on a small twin prop plane flown by Piedmont airlines which was part of that group suddenly. This small plane carrying I think only about 20 passengers was flying in from Philadelphia and as a result flu at low altitude the entire way. The approach to LaGuardia was spectacular because the plane was going at less than half the speed that a typical jet would be going at and a very very low altitude even when it started to come ashore. From my seat on the left side of the plane looking out the window I watched the entire skyline of Manhattan approach together with statue of liberty. Then the plane followed the western shore of Queens going parallel with the Manhattan skyline right at the edge of the river Hudson. And it did all this at a fraction of the height that we see in this video. as we passed the skyline all of the skyline was at a higher height than the plane was. To see the skyline of Manhattan a plane traveling alongside it at such a low altitude and such a slow-speed mint that was a long long time of taking in that site it did not just pass by quickly like what happened with typical airliners. and so then it landed with the runway at LaGuardia that runs parallel to the Hudson River. That was my introduction to New York and it was in nice brightly-lit sunshiny day and was just awesome. Even in movies I don't think I've ever seen the skyline pass by like that. So remember if there is a twin-prop plane not a jet having a flight from Philadelphia to laguardia take that over a egular Boeing or Airbus especially if it's a sunny bright day and you will not be sorry.
Alan Peterson We had two Broncos at SATD, NAS PAX RIVER, MD One had the helmet guided gatlin gun mounted on the belly. Pilots say the aircraft will stall if you fire the gun continuously, from the recoil.
No, there is no expressway visual rwy 31 approach in the FMC. The pilots fly the approach using the runway 4 localizer. At a certain point/landmark they make a right turn which roughly follows the expressway (hents the name). They then make a left base turn for a short final on runway 31.
Oh he nailed that landing! Beautiful approach and touchdown...

Knowing a little extra, I must say I miss those flight crews. Great pilots and great guys. Seeing them daily made going to work fun.
The only quick way to get from Bay Ridge to Prospect Park at rush hour
Yeah..and where's the LIE parking lot that we all know and love? Traffic was actually moving. Lol
That's awesome! Was able to pick out my childhood home in Maspeth! Thanks for posting.
Now, that's a great landing. Beautiful approach, as well.
That was some masterful flying! Nice!

Wow... great video... and great landing!!
I had my seat fastened the whole time!
Good job Captain!!

Queens ! My birthplace home ! Nice landing.
Now that's how you do that, JESUS!
Another successful landing at the USS LaGuardia
it really does feel like that...that one approach i think from the eastern side of the airport first time i thought we were crashing into the water
call the ball
Wonder if most pilots who fly in there are carrier pilots
LGA catch the 3rd cable OH WAIT is a airport
You are so right, landing at La Guardia
Is landing on a aircraft carrier.
Nicely done, boys!
Nice approach and landing.
"Now that's how you do that." Lol Nice one Cap.
Nice seeing the area of the '64 world's fair again.
@ocalamike Correct, on the approach, once you get to the two white tanks, you turn right heading 080 to start joining the expressway
That's definitely Luca flying that plane!
From about 5:28 to 5:37 you can see what's left of the 1964 World's Fair structures at the left / lower left portion of the screen.
Was just a kid when we went to the World's Fair; I remember seeing a Connie returning to land @ LaGuardia with one engine shut down/prop feathered...
I thought giant cockroach flew that off the planet....
Yes. I did not notice in my first viewing... unfamiliar with NYC vicinity. Thanks!
Nice job. Subscribed
Perfect Landing!
Nice landing!
Smooth!
Pretty slick greaser.
Great video ! 5ubscribed

John Manley. Nope.
Steve Bailey who then
John Manley Just a guess but if had been SWA it might have been a nosewheel first landing. Just sayin'
Steve Bailey lmao
John Manley The automated CAWS altitude call outs begin at 100' ....just sayin.
:) good landing
what kind of aircraft is this?
now thats how you do that!! lol

Yes, a visual cue at the DIALS waypoint.

laguardia is the airport where everything starts and everything ends
Is this basically the 82nd Street approach, which basically goes right over Jackson Heights, Queens?
No...this is the Flushing approach.
Thats how you do it!
very nicly done! now i wawant to try that awpproch with FSX......
was this a CDFA approach?
I'm going to guess a 737, the sound the trim wheel makes in that plane in unmistakable!
Joseph Chamberlain yup
I just rent and fly cessna 152's around tampa. I'm 67 . Nice to see flat new york from my altitude.😎

I can see my home in this video :)
Sure would like to see more videos like this Mr. ov10ssb ! BTW... did you fly Broncos in the service ?
Alan Peterson yessir, Marines!
Alan Peterson
We had two Broncos at SATD, NAS PAX RIVER, MD

Steve Bailey
Thank you for your service!
From an old A-6 and others mechanic.
Do you have the Tanks?
What airplane?
As you were able to use LNAV/VNAV is this visual approach in your FMS as a selectable approach?

there's my apt!
Butter
and thats how you butter that bread
It sounded like the auto pilot was disengaged as they turned final....
how fast were you going
StarOceanSora360
I believe they called out 145 to 160 before turning on final.
the 666 person to hit the like button 😆, just an observation
Not sure what you meant in the title by saying "(LNAV/VNAV)".
Sam Messervy "Lateral Navigation" and "Vertical Navigation" uses GPS technology.
I didn't think there was an RNAV approach for this, guess I'm wrong.
Christopher Stevenson you have to build it, not technically a selectable RNAV FMS database approach.
Those aren't projects lol but great views non the less
Micael Jimenez LOL, Lefrak City on the left, Park City Estates on the right.....but to these good ol' boys all of Queens is one big project.
They mean NYCHA projects.
Lefrak is privately owned and well maintained. Unlike the slumlord NYCHA
Don't I know it!
"That's the way you do it"? What program an approach and then hand fly a 1 mile straight final in clear weather? C'mon...
That's the "Expressway Visual RW 31" and they flew it exactly as charted.
mautu ioapo confrom laguardia expressway viisual approach lnav vanv thonk you youtube videos goodday by mautu ioapo in my loaptop compter goodday 13.5.2014 thonk you mautu ioapo
