I hear Buffalo is one of the safest places to live in the US when it comes to major catastrophic natural disasters like earthquakes, tornados, hurricanes, wildfires, floods, volcanos, tsunamis, etc. If so, that's pretty cool.

This poor guy. Trying like hell to find something REDEEMING about this GOAST TOWN! pro stupid, in reverse mentally, FAGOLA !!! AND SCHOPRENIC'S? THEY WERE INVENTED HERE! 43 years ago, I got outta the u.s. navy on January 18th 1980 with an A1 HONER ABLE DISCHARGE and fell right into this commune fulla HEADS! FELT RIGHT AT HOME! SEX AND DRUGS AND ROCK AND ROLL! as Ian furry used to say. In 3 years California went to hell, SO FAST! it was heart braking. Back to barffalo. Still had living here and the same old nasty ass attitude of the same stale people with these shit eating looks on their kissers. You OUGHTA meet my brothers ex old lady and his oldest kid, my oldest nice, 40 and miserable just like her SCHOPRENIC mother. this kickin' LOOKIN babe, one of the VARY FEW FRIENDS/ SYMPITHIZERS sister had a thing for him and this ugly fuckin pile of shit ran her off and merrier into the family and ran my parents into an early grave. Nicest, smartest people you'll never meet. My brother told me once, I WISH SHE'D RUN OFF WITH SOME OTHER SLOB! I said, WE WARNED YOU! YOU DIDN'T LISTEN. my nephew juggles these stupid girlfriends like bowling pins and the baggage they drag in...really upsets my great nephew! He's 13 years old and he CALLED me the other day and said I CAN'T WAIT TILL I'M 27 SO I CAN GET THE HELL OUTTA HERE! boy time goes fast. I remember when I was 13 . Seems like a minute ago. Now stale old man, on the, close to 70 range, wild man since 2 , I never ever thought I was gonna live this long

We just moved to Buffalo last October, and having been someone who's lived all across this country (and in all four corners), I can assure you: the weather here is not all that different than other areas. Especially the whole "all four seasons during spring" thing you were talking about. Most recently we lived in Southern Oregon, and people said the same damn thing about Oregon's weather. Unless you live in a really temperate area like Southern Cali, or a really hot/wet area like the south, that's just how the weather is in the half of the U.S.

Our parking stinks but I've got to say this as someone who lives in Buffalo vs the Bronx, alternate side is nice because it allows them to clear to the curb. In NY where you have people parking on both sides and they just plow down the middle of the road, you have to drive over a ridge of snow to park.

He is spot on about owning a car and driving in metro Buffalo- the city was pretty much developed out before the advent of the automobile, when Buffalo had an extensive trolley system- no need for driveways, hence the tight street parking (and he could not have better described the issue with winter parking restrictions and being plowed in). No traffic in a city for which the expressway system was designed in the 40s and 50s for a city expected to grow to 700,000 people (think a city the size of Charlotte, NC)...which never happened.
Prediction: in spite of horrible weather (admit it, Buffalo natives!), this city and metro area will be flourishing once again by the end of the 21st century- it's water, water and water. Climate change will force people back north...bank on it.

I'm a recent transplant, and I disagree about the weather. I've lived so many places, and weather is shit just about everywhere except southern california (and some people might consider that kind of weather pretty boring). Yes, it's cold: get bundled or stay inside (no different than when we lived in Arizona and you didn't go outside when it was 106 degrees). Yeah, it snows: you push it out of the way and now you got a winter wonderland to play in (when I was in Oregon, it was still 14 degrees and NO snow...so cold as shit AND nothing to do!).
In exchange for the winter hardship: the spring/summer/fall are AMAZING. Lush, not too hot, water everywhere, lots of do and travel to...we're having a blast!
And, you're dead spot on about this area flourishing again. In fact, that is why we settled on the Northeast and this region in particular. Gotta follow the water. All those "temperate" areas that have been so nice for the past 70 years because of their low precipitation? They're in a MESS of trouble now, especially since they let the population grow without limits.

Born and raised in Buffalo, NY. Moved away 9 yrs ago. I will never move back tho. Love to visit family & friends but the crime (mostly on the East/ West side, Riverside, and racist South buffalo) and weather (winter is like 8 months long) I can do without. Def affordable place to live, Best food, really decent public transit system (bus & rail) compared to FL, AZ, NC, GA which is almost non-existent, a 15-20 min drive to get thru the whole city, low traffic, great wages and jobs. Really good school system, great festivals: Italian fest, Funk Fest, Puerto rican festival, MLk day, Rick James day, Cheap admission to the Zoo, Museums, beautiful parks. Great place just not where im going to plant roots. #716 #BuffaloProud
Another big reason I wint move back and one big issue that no one addresses is the toxic waste they dumped after the steel plant closed that's the leading cause of Cancer in the area. Main reason why we have Rosewell Cancer Institute. Thats the rotten egg odor you smell downtown. Also North buffalo has a rat infestation right now.

My husband and I currently live in south Buffalo off Clinton street . This is the worst city we as military family had to live in. Schools are horrible, plowing in dead ends basically don’t exist, neighbors are mean for the most part . Parking on the street is a pain in a butt. Bills mafia is overwhelming and often violent . We are outsiders in the area ( VA license plates ) and trust me our neighbors never fail to remind us of that lol! This is my very broad take from living there on and off for several years: you will think it is pretty good if you come from a cold climate + small town combo. You will not like it if you come from a larger city, especially if that city has a lot to do and is in a warm climate. It has a very small-town and good-old-boys vibe. People's hobbies include drinking and the Buffalo Bills. Taxes are super high, so imagine paying NY taxes, but getting Buffalo. Property taxes are as bad as down state NY. The food there is good if you have a very unhealthy diet.

There are only a few states I’m allowed to live in with my job. I make around 100k but that’s not enough to buy a home in my area (LA), even burned down plots of land are over 1million. So NY is another state I can live in, obviously they’re assuming you’ll live in NYC, but I’d love to own a house with a yard (that’s been my dream for so long). I’ve been looking all over upstate ny. I want somewhere progressive, historical, diverse, community based with some nice nature to get out and walk in with the doggo. I know weather is gonna be a big change so hopefully somewhere where if I’m snowed in, it’s still a nice place to be. Idk. Biggest thing is to go from the cultural and diverse mega city that is socal where I have tons of friends and things to do all year round, I’d be worried to be stuck somewhere boring. But definitely wouldn’t mind a slower pace as long as it’s not full of rednecks. Ahha😂

Devonte, Buffalo is a dying city. No jobs, no public transportation, old decaying homes with plastic surgery and heavy make-up to look presentable. Even those junk houses are propped up by Bangladeshi people moving there buying up those houses. Not enough and won't be enough. I was thinking about buying a house near the W Ferry/ Elmwood areas but the asking prices are ridiculously high, almost the same as high as in Queens New York City. The New York City pricing without New York City amenities is a deal breaker for me. I am kind of watching your blog regularly. I like what you have been doing.
