I love how you can sense Mark's growing confidence in this game. When it starts, he's concerned/scared. As it goes, he gets more confident, even getting to a point of calling out Charles.
Reminds me of the score they gave Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky. Also a 4/10. Which was just absolutely disgusting, lmao. Fantastic Pokemon game
Honestly, Mark would be so wholesomely egotistic if he HAD won an Emmy. Id expect nothing less than a full hour length stream of him just sitting in a chair next to his Emmy without saying a word and looking smugly at the camera. And we would love it.

It's unfortunate the character's mouths don't move (yet) because the voice acting in this game is honestly phenomenal. Pickle Lady in particular is hilarious, the VA sounds like she's having an absolute blast.
to me it's even better, sets low expectations, unware people join thinking that charles will be some wacky monster that will look like a big png but get to meet that terrifying abomination hunting them down

I can already invision the chaos that would come from Mark, Bob, and Wade playing a multiplayer version of this game, Wade spending scrap without saying anything and getting yelled at, the three not agreeing on a colour for the train and spam-repainting it for minutes on end, and the pure madness that would ensue when Charles appears
The way you put it makes me want the multiplayer version SO badly. I love this game, and it's perfect for playing with others. Like Bob and Wade, oh and maybe even Sean!

best thing about Markiplier is that he could have done the whole two hours of stream with the tiny screen for the game and still get millions of views. What a chad gamer of the year.
I'm happy that for once in a horror setting, every single character is trustworthy and direct about their intentions, whether they be resident or cult member.
I'm watching the beginning. mark never got sucked up into the popularity, I've been watching him since he started yt and hes pretty much always been the same (other than growing as a person) I've always love him for that, i think we can all agree.
Mark ignoring Charles’s horn in the distance, which I guess is the signifier that he is coming to attack, is undeniably one of the most stressful things I’ve watched him do 🫠
I felt that way but with Jack always stopping his train whenever Charles attacked. Like he spent hundreds of scrap repairing when he could just MOVE HIS TRAIN AND SHOOT LIKE THAT.
Be sure to support the dev of this game, they made it all by themselves and did a wonderful job. Loved the story, love the characters and the plot twist, love that mark was the one to review it!
IMO the characters are aware that this is just a game the way they speak and just freely give away scrap is weird, especially the girl with the shotgun, like if I was that girl I wouldn't be so trusting and would be better she pointed her gun at the MC and be all aggressive and paranoid like, given the fact she is also aware of charles. PS this is not hate just observation
I love how humble Markiplier is he always tries to remind us that smaller streamers need our help and how many small streamers he’s helped with their careers and making them big. He always comes off as someone who cares more about others than himself and I just think there’s not a lot of people in the world like that anymore. I honestly love Markiplier he’s so funny he’s smart he’s a great gamer and on top of that all he’s just a great person.

How did this game get a 4/10?! This is easily a high rated game. Sure, like Mark said, there are a few rough edges here and there, but for a game which has been done by one person - props to you game dev!!! - this is phenomenal. I haven't gotten all the way through the video yet, but, yes, I could see a good review coming out of this game. So far, the only "complaint" I have about the game is the characters' mouths don't move. But if the dev(s) were on limited time and resources, I can understand and forgive that. Overall, though, this looks like a beautiful game design wise and I can't wait to see the rest of the video. P.S. Dev(s)! I can't get over mark reading the instructions on stealth, and his solution is to just say "stealth" out loud over and over again as he breakdances down the hallways.
If that’s true, I weep for those people. The Emmys hold an important place in pop culture history. The ceremony is a bit of a joke now, but what it stands for and what it means for entertainment are far more important than any CZcamsr.
My favourite part in the entire stream happened at 36:42. Charles approaching from the front and just What do I do? What do I do?! WHAT DO I DO?? WHAT DO I DOOO?! And it just devolves into a mental mark breakdown for half a minute before realizing 'oh hey I can turn the turret the other way'
I think the funniest part about Mark saying he isn't a completionist is that, aside from collecting the paint cans he completed everything in one go. He did all the side quests, maxed out all his stats, got all the guns, and beat the game.
Let’s all take a moment and think: Just the FACT that mark got nominated for an Emmy is an amazing accomplishment. Even though he absolutely deserved to win, we should all commend him for even making it. That’s a massive achievement.
It should be a massive achievement, although I can’t help but think the only reason the Emmys invited him was because THEY needed the exposure, because anytime Mark shows up in a video that video does well. He mentioned that nobody knew who he was, and nobody cared about him. This topic could do well as an analysis video

Shoot, dang! I enjoyed playing Choo-Choo Charles! The horror experience was amazing! The atmosphere is blood-curdling. The environment is phenomenal. The story is brilliant and well-written. Charles is horrifying! I still can't stop laughing at Eugene running at the speed of sound! The pickle lady is absolutely hilarious! The Slenderman reference is awesome! Bob is my favourite weapon to use. Outstanding work by Gavin Eisenbeisz for developing and making this game. Much appreciation to the people who have voiced the characters in the game. I am shocked that this game is rated 4/10 by IGN. To me, I rate this game 10/10. Choo-Choo Charles is a perfect, well-crafted masterpiece.
Just realized I've been watching Markiplier for almost 9 years. He's always been a joy and such a nice person. Hope he continues to have a successful career and bring countless hours of entertainment to people. Even when he stops being a CZcamsr, I hope he stays happy. This game was pretty decent and the fact it was made by only one guy and the level of detail and everything about the gore and missions and much more is insane. 10/10
more horror games need to realise allowing you to have a proper final boss is a good climax to a game and won't detract from the horror. That final battle with Choo CHoo Charles is tense and great.
I think too many horror games get obsessed with the idea of making you helpless which is valid but like giving you ways to fight back doesn't really make things less scary imo
@@BrendenTait8858 A really great way to do that is to add a way to fight back, but with the constant threat of messing up, such as with limited ammo or an AI that attempts different methods of attacking. Imagine if Charles tried to sneak up after a few attempts, or hid beside a part of track you were approaching.
@@BrendenTait8858 Sometimes it does, it really depends on what the consequences for dying are. If you CAN fight back effectively or have a good chance of escaping even after getting noticed then why go through the trouble of sneaking when you can just run through guns out without ever really being punished for it? Even if you mess up what do you lose? A minute of walking? A horror game where there is no real consequence for dying becomes 10 times less scary after the first 2-3 deaths because there really isn't anything to fear. As an example, Alien: Isolation is a lot scarier than PREY imo, because you get seen you die. Even if you manage to hide in a room the Xenomorph barges in and checks a bunch of hidey-holes while you have to hold your breath to avoid being heard, so it's a lot better to avoid being seen at all. Yes, you have the flamethrower but after a while the AI learns to not fear it as much, so you are screwed anyway. In PREY? You get seen you shoot. Nothing to worry about. "Oh no that box was not a box it was a black blob guess I'll just have to kill it". Much less scary imo.

I can already invision the chaos that would come from Mark, Bob, and Wade playing a multiplayer version of this game, Wade spending scrap without saying anything and getting yelled at, the three not agreeing on a colour for the train and spam-repainting it for minutes on end, and the pure madness that would ensue when Charles appears
The way you put it makes me want the multiplayer version SO badly. I love this game, and it's perfect for playing with others. Like Bob and Wade, oh and maybe even Sean!
In one of the creators videos from nine months ago he literally said it would be too much work to make a multiplayer version so he won’t do it. However it would hilarious

I'm watching the beginning. mark never got sucked up into the popularity, I've been watching him since he started yt and hes pretty much always been the same (other than growing as a person) I've always love him for that, i think we can all agree.
Mark ignoring Charles’s horn in the distance, which I guess is the signifier that he is coming to attack, is undeniably one of the most stressful things I’ve watched him do 🫠
I felt that way but with Jack always stopping his train whenever Charles attacked. Like he spent hundreds of scrap repairing when he could just MOVE HIS TRAIN AND SHOOT LIKE THAT.

IMO the characters are aware that this is just a game the way they speak and just freely give away scrap is weird, especially the girl with the shotgun, like if I was that girl I wouldn't be so trusting and would be better she pointed her gun at the MC and be all aggressive and paranoid like, given the fact she is also aware of charles.

I love how humble Markiplier is he always tries to remind us that smaller streamers need our help and how many small streamers he’s helped with their careers and making them big. He always comes off as someone who cares more about others than himself and I just think there’s not a lot of people in the world like that anymore. How did this game get a 4/10?! This is easily a high rated game. Sure, like Mark said, there are a few rough edges here and there, but for a game which has been done by one person - props to you game dev!!! - this is phenomenal. I am looking forward to seeing where this goes in the future :D

I haven't gotten all the way through the video yet, but, yes, I could see a good review coming out of this game.
So far, the only "complaint" I have about the game is the characters' mouths don't move. But if the dev(s) were on limited time and resources, I can understand and forgive that.
Overall, though, this looks like a beautiful game design wise and I can't wait to see the rest of the video.

Shoot, dang! I enjoyed playing Choo-Choo Charles! The horror experience was amazing! The atmosphere is blood-curdling. The environment is phenomenal. The story is brilliant and well-written. Charles is horrifying! I still can't stop laughing at Eugene running at the speed of sound! The pickle lady is absolutely hilarious! The Slenderman reference is awesome! Bob is my favourite weapon to use. Outstanding work by Gavin Eisenbeisz for developing and making this game. Much appreciation to the people who have voiced the characters in the game. I am shocked that this game is rated 4/10 by IGN. To me, I rate this game 10/10. Choo-Choo Charles is a perfect, well-crafted masterpiece.
Just realized I've been watching Markiplier for almost 9 years. He's always been a joy and such a nice person. Hope he continues to have a successful career and bring countless hours of entertainment to people. Even when he stops being a CZcamsr, I hope he stays happy. watching mark unknowingly honk the train and summoning charles the first few times will probably be the funniest naive thing i've seen all day
more horror games need to realise allowing you to have a proper final boss is a good climax to a game and won't detract from the horror. That final battle with Choo CHoo Charles is tense and great.
I think too many horror games get obsessed with the idea of making you helpless which is valid but like giving you ways to fight back doesn't really make things less scary imo
@@BrendenTait8858 A really great way to do that is to add a way to fight back, but with the constant threat of messing up, such as with limited ammo or an AI that attempts different methods of attacking. Imagine if Charles tried to sneak up after a few attempts, or hid beside a part of track you were approaching.
@@BrendenTait8858 Sometimes it does, it really depends on what the consequences for dying are. If you CAN fight back effectively or have a good chance of escaping even after getting noticed then why go through the trouble of sneaking when you can just run through guns out without ever really being punished for it? Even if you mess up what do you lose? A minute of walking? A horror game where there is no real consequence for dying becomes 10 times less scary after the first 2-3 deaths because there really isn't anything to fear.
As an example, Alien: Isolation is a lot scarier than PREY imo, because you get seen you die. Even if you manage to hide in a room the Xenomorph barges in and checks a bunch of hidey-holes while you have to hold your breath to avoid being heard, so it's a lot better to avoid being seen at all. Yes, you have the flamethrower but after a while the AI learns to not fear it as much, so you are screwed anyway. In PREY? You get seen you shoot. Nothing to worry about. "Oh no that box was not a box it was a black blob guess I'll just have to kill it". Much less scary imo.
