You rarely have a sorrowful look or tone when u share historical information. Your humanity was so visible while explaining WW I tray being reflective of lives lost that stired Pres. W. Willson to send America troops into the war arena.
I am truely greatful to hear the stories behind the pisces you l
ist. As a retired teacher and I know you are a gifted educator and draw us into the topics at hand. George, you would absolutely transfix middle, high school, collegiate and post graduate learners !! You don't know how unique you really are !
I am thinking that the tray is a powerful tool to keep THAT awful WWI battle in our memory. I hadn't remembered that pivotal battle that drew American s into the war. A great teaching prop for a classroom.
I so appreciate your take on this! I try hard to remind us of the good and bad in our collective history, I figure the objects make it real for those of us who’ve only heard the stories
Yes, it does make it real and stimulates many connections and reflection. It certainly has that effect on me. Thank you George.
Janet, I saw your comment after I wrote mine, you may want to read it. ☮
Thank you Alice, I am glad let me know about your comment. I left u a reply.
Take care
George, I just love you, you make me so happy. It’s wonderful to see a person that loves what they do and is so knowledgeable. I really enjoy your videos.
Thank you! I'm glad it shows and that you can come along with me
Watching you George is like taking a art history lesson along with viewing great finds. I am learning so much and enjoying every minute, fun and interesting tidbits of information I just love. But what I love most is how much fun you are having sharing your knowledge and how you always have a genuine interest in others and the stories they have to tell. Like you I think that's where the charm of antiques and vintage is, the stories they could tell. Thanks 💓 See you Monday, meanwhile I'm catching up, I am new.
Yes, it really is! Love to listen and learn!
I had no idea Clarice Cliff was such a free spirit! I love her work even more now.
I know! She was amazing and fascinating
✨💖✨ As always, I love your stories, enthusiasm and knowledge for the reselling business! Your story about Nekcassof reminded me of a delightful teenager from El Salvador I knew, who worked in a kitchen I managed, back in the early 1980's. One day I thought to ask her how she came here and her reply was "we walked". I said no not just here today but here to live in DC. Her reply was still "we walked" but "we took a bus from Texas". That blew my mind, at a time when I knew next to nothing about immigration to the US and even less about the conflicts in latin America. Now I could write a long rant on the subject but I'll keep it brief, I wish everyone could understand what people will or must do to survive in harsh circumstances. Maybe there would be more compassion and support for the many refugees seeking peace in the US. ☮
Alice, your story is profound. Thank you for bringing my attention to your comment ! My son is a young Immagration Attorney. He will be interested in your experience in the 80's.
Take care, Janet
ban the bomb,
remember the Freeze movement in the 70' and early 80's ?
@AliceGoesNomad That is a really telling story! I know there's much fear of immigrants in the current media, but most of our ancestors went through a lot to get here because they were also in desperate straits.
I now have the pink bird of hope on my wish list. I hope Murano conjures up the golden bird of prosperity some day. I loved ❤all the history stories tonight. Thank you again.
I am so glad! Thanks for enjoying them with us and I hope the golden bird of prosperity (or the pink bird of hope) roost with you soon
@@TheAntiqueNomad love ❤️ your sense of humor!
Thanks George. Lots of little bits of information to baffle my boyfriend with !!
Glad it was helpful! Lol
Hey, George-Fans, let's move him toward 65.K 🎉 Just click on the Share Arrow, send to friends who haven't 'meet' him yet! Great way to thank George for all the knowledge he shares with us ❤
Aww thanks!!
Sorry to clog up the comments but the little figures in Matchbox always intrigued me!! I had an ambulance that had had a stretcher with a patient!!🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Yes! I had that too. The only one I have now is the Studebaker sliding roof wagon with the two hunting dogs in the back
@@TheAntiqueNomad I’ll trade ya 😁
@@elderlypoodle9181 I'll look for one for you
Hi Ms Poodle ! Hope you are well! Hope we both get to Jeffery and Barb's Friday sale. Miss u in the chat last Friday ! I only caught the last part of the sale myself. 💕
As a geologist/paleontologist who sells ephemera, that Alaskan EQ set is amazing! We just had an eq on the east coast an hour ago too. (note: changed my name from Boldly Grow Pickers -- may recognize that one more)
Hi there! I'm glad to see you under your new name, which is very clever. The EQ pics are really something, I'm curious to see where they go
I like the mask for sure but my favorite ones are the comedy/tradegy ones. Have a great day and safe travels
Mine too!
👋🏼I used to make ceramic masks in the early 80s and sell them at Covent Garden & Camden market , and i lived near the Match box factory in the EastEnd of London 😊 Much gratitudes to you George 🙏🏼and your fantastic photographic mind ,your wealth of knowledge is such a marvel 👏🏼👏🏼 💞🌟🕊🇬🇧
Oh wow! That must have been a fun thing to do. Very interesting places you've been
Your vast knowledge is astounding. I love learning so much from your content.
Thank you!
Terrific video, George! I so enjoyed watching it! Thanks!
Wild George. I really like this video, you know. So much about the things that you'll sell. It's awesome. I really liked all the little critters and the pink glass and the pottery. Was excellent, oh, my Good nest What a brilliant video.😊😊😊😊😊
Thanks so much! I really enjoy doing the deeper dives in these videos
Gosh, the Clarice Cliff piece is great. I am still waiting to see a piece in the wild. ☺
You and me both! This is my first
The black Raymor: spectacular! I had never heard of Raymor before. After seeing it in this video I searched Etsy and found a stunning black Raymor decanter going for $800. How nice it would be to live with pieces like those within sight everyday.
Isn't is cool? I never knew about the black before I found this piece
I had fun George!😊❤
Me too!
@@TheAntiqueNomad ❤
Hi George. I love the Clarice Cliff jug. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that my $3 sugar shaker is a Claice Cliff piece. 😊 59:09
Nice!
Hi 👋 Im viewing from New Zealand. I spent my childhood in the 1960s. I had many British Matchbox toy cars then. I also had Dinky metal diecast models too. I kept them all in their boxes. I sold them before moving to live and work in Australia. I can't remember how much i got for them , i couldn't take them with me. I sold my vinyl record collection too.
Lots to learn today !
Hi George! Hope u are well. I have been enjoyiing your past vedios as I waited for a new release. Enjoyed seeing you and Betty in Mexico City. That was quite something ! Looking forward to learning how your sales you went. Bye, Janet
Hi, Janet! I had so much fun with Betty there, I hope we get to do similar again someday. Thanks for watching and see you soon!
Take care, hi to Xeno
I love when you talk about the California Potters, my Aunt Yona was a California Potters, and we had a number of her pieces in our home when I was growing up. I inherited a very special one from my Grandmother, and have it to this day. I occasionally think of looking for a few more of her more interesting designs.
I was in Victoria BC when the earthquake happened in 1964. I watched Foul Bay Road buckle all down its centre a half block away from our house, where Chaucer Street met Foul Bay Rd. a number of my Mother’s collection of mid century glass decanters fell off their display shelves and broke. It was quite frightening even that far from Alaska.🖤🇨🇦
Yona of Yona Pottery? I enjoy her things a lot! We don't see them too often but they were very cute. I didn't realize Victoria had damage as well, it was such a major thing
@@TheAntiqueNomad Yes, Yona of Yona Pottery was my Paternal Aunt. I have her rectangular bowl with a kneeling woman in it. Coloured chartreuse with gold flecks and painted face and hands. I have seen it in black and silver, and would love to have that.
Victoria took some damage, but nothing like buildings coming down.🖤🇨🇦
Very interesting,, you are a talented person!
Love the purple cow ❤
Me too!
I collected purple cows for a while! There is a NH poet that wrote a poem; The Purple Cow
Gelett Burgess, 1866 -1951
I never saw a Purple Cow,
I never hope to see one,
But I can tell you, anyhow,
I’d rather see than be one!
George in California we had a man named Huell Howser who filmed eonderful unknown sites in California ... We loved him because it was great fun to go to those places on our own ... He was so wise and kind and funny ... He was golden and so are you
That’s some nice company to share, I appreciate the compliment! I bet my dad followed him, he was always integrated in California ghost towns when we lived there
Sold one on eBay last year for $100. They are beautiful.
Hello George ❤
Hi Leslie!
You are an encyclopedia of wonderful information.
Wow, thank you!
He really is !!
Some interesting items. I love the mission planter. Maybe the photos from the Alaska earthquake should go to a historic museum. ❣️
I thought that was a great planter! My Anchorage friends informed me that there are a lot of Alaska EQ images in museums already, so I figured these could go to a collector
Thank you so much . I particularly liked the purple cow story. When I was a child a teacher asked us to memorise a poem. Needless to say I looked for the shortest poem I could find 😂 the teacher picked on me to recite out loud (which I hated)! I have never forgotten this poem and have taught it to my children and grandchildren 😂 thank you for the background
Great video George! Thanks for sharing!
What a variety of items! Thanks for the background info. I just love these videos!
Thanks! I sure enjoy doing them, it challenges me
Was over in Clearwater, St.Pete Tuesday.
I hope you had fun!
Oh the Chevrolet!!🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 I sent the lore to my son.
Fun thing I thought! Never have seen one
Hi Poodle. Hope to see u tomorrow at noon. 💕
I have hat tons of clay art masks. Marilyn was my favorite
She's really good
Oh my would almost give an arm for a piece of Clarence Cliff. There is some here in Australia and New Zealand but wildly expensive especially for a set xxx cheri
I know it's hard to find and not cheap anywhere! If you decide to bid, let me know and I'll add Australia/NZ to the approved shipping places
I would have to name that cow Eggplant. Beautiful lion too. Mission planter is amazing. How pretty is that pink glass bird! Your friend in Mexico was adorable.
Love & Blessings Always George
Eggplant! I love it. I think the cow would too. Betty and I had lots of fun and I'm glad you enjoyed!
I am also a fan of Ben Seibel. We have two sets of dishes which he designed and several other miscellaneous pieces. These were mainly purchased nearly 25 years ago when shipping, particularly between the US and Canada was reasonable. George, I learn from every video you produce. Thank you for your generosity.
For now, we do still have free speech. Thank you for not only sharing interesting pieces but history.
Yes, I figure we need to remember the importance of this!
Happy Easter George, I love the stories about the designers and makers and what times in history inspired the design and make.
Thanks! I like telling what I know and looking into more
@@TheAntiqueNomad those things tell stories about people and history.
Happy Easter! My favorite videos! I love the history lesson! ❤
Thank you! I enjoy them too
Just curious… is all this wonderful information simply stored in your head or do you research info ahead of time? It’s truly amazing how you can just rattle off history and facts without hesitation!! It’s impressive 😉 I’m a 65 baby too 🤗
I do a little of both with these, I usually pick things I know with some depth and then fact check myself before I record
Blessed Easter George!
Happy Easter!
Hi Crittergirl❤
I have an older large Cardinal of Virtue & a Bluebird of Happiness. I received a large Bluebird as a gift. My Mom gave me 3 little bluebirds when I had each of my children. I love them! I had not seen the pink bird of hope before today. What do the yellow ones symbolize?
Something really weird happened while you were showing the photos of the Alaska earthquake. My dog let out a single bark, one second later my house started shaking. The crystals on the chandeliers were swaying back and forth. I live near Yosemite Nat. Park. We got a foot of snow today. I have lived in the mountains all my life and have experienced many earthquakes. Until today I have NEVER experienced an earthquake while there was so much snow on the ground. All earthquakes in this area of California are fairly mild, don't do any damage, and are kind of fun. I just thought it was really funny that we had an earthquake while you were showing the photos of the Alaska one.
Wow that is a crazy coincidence! A sympathy quake? I’m glad they’re small where you are
Hi by george fogot what day it is im here
You were right about pink glass making a come back . What is it about trends , that make them occur ? Why pink glass ?
One theory is the Barbie movie made pink cool again, but I think all these grey interiors are begging for a color spot and pink is a good mix
❤❤❤
The Weller Mission jardinière is way better than $225. It's going to fly past that. I think you'll be surprised.
I hope so, I do think it's better as well. The pottery market seems to be rebounding so we'll see
Hey Karen
Thanks for sharing your wisdom and especially for giving us this important historical info - so important. Do you offer "master classes' with a fee that go deeper into emerging collectible trends and markets. Big fan - thank you.
Hi George, I wanted to check I n you and see how you fared with the horrific tornadoes that plagued KY. What a travesty. 😪
Thank you! We were spared this time, but they sure are more common than they used to be.
I love your expertise George but can you check out the how to say Clarice in english .❤
I always get in trouble with pronunciation. We tend to Americanize things and a lot is hearsay from older dealers that has passed down to us.
Oh my that lion 19:39
Yes! People think of their Beatrix Potter figures a lot, but their realistic animals are really good too
❤❤🎉🎉
What was the cherub hoof thingy by Clay Art USA? Can’t find that cherub hoof thing!
It's a cherub hook, I think a cherub's bottom with a hook coming out. I haven't seen one yet myself, they were their first product and I don't think they made a ton!
Hi George do you ever come to New Mexico?
I did one video in Albuquerque on my way through, hope to get through there again!
Love that the purple cow has a belly button!
😂😂
Hello George. Intaglio has a silent G like in lasagna
I ❤ that mask I have one very similar that was my nanny's. I was with her when she brought it in the early 80s A lot of cheap knock offs, quality is poor. I just checked mine is USA original.
Yes, they spawned lots of cheap imitators but this one's original
❤❤❤
