  • Roy is out in the New Forest during the sika rut. The stags have been whistling and clashing antlers, and he uses his skills at making both those noises to call them in. Plus he has a call for a muntjac, and he gets to use that, too. He is using a rifle mounted with a Leica scope and an Aimpoint Acro. Find out how useful that is, too, and see how he gets on.
    For more information about the Acro, go to Aimpoint.com or email info@aimpoint.se

    Here's Tim Pilbeam's film about setting up the Acro:

      They might be the toughest you have in the UK but if you want to hunt tough deer come to Victoria Australia and hunt our mighty Sambar Deer in our alpine country the Deer are tough and so is the country they live in ,It's hot as hell in the summer and covered in snow in the winter and it's the best place to live in the world

    That is a marvelous Stag. I hunt on the Maryland Eastern Shore in the USA and have never seen a Stag bigger than a six point at the check in stations. I have never seen one while hunting but they are around. My brother killed a button Stag ten years ago with a muzzleloader and it was prime eating. We hunt the Whitetail deer here but the Sitka is a regular in the swamp land.

    I do wonder if thermal and new technology is taking away the magic and natural aspect of hunter v animal from stalking. Do we really need aimpoint acquisition systems on top of a 2k scope? And thermal I fear will only have a negative effect on the population with the animal no longer having a fair chance. I've used thermal and soon sold it after as the stalking became too easy and I started to loose the love for stalking. Since going back to basics it's become a passion once again.

    Hi just asking
    How much does it cost to hunt in England or Europe. Do I need to go to hunting school. I am willing to learn from You Folks. You All are Awesome shots. Thank You for what You do 🦌

    • @fieldsportstv
      @fieldsportstv  Před 3 lety +2

      Thanks for this. It can be as much or as little as you like, depending on what you want to hunt. An outing for a big sika stag like Roy's can be pricy - from £100s to £1000s. The BASC wildfowling permit scheme is just a few £s. If you don't have a gun licence, you can go out with a deerstalker who will lend you a rifle (as long as you shoot straight). Best thing to do is ask around for a local professional stalker or gamekeeper and see what they charge. Hope this helps. / Charlie

      You know people like you piss me off because you are probably the type to complain about people shooting small deer and then come and complain about people shooting big deer. It is a legal deer that’s why he took it.

      @123Henrit Před 3 lety +3

      I don’t have a problem with any deer being shot so long as there is good reason. It was more a question for my own knowledge. But thanks for your irrelevant input.
      There’s enough things in the world to complain about already before complaining about a sport that I love, such as “why on earth would some one call their child Trayson?!” 😂
