  • Ever heard of chi kak kueh?
    Also known as shu ke kueh, the black steamed snack is made of a type of weed - not the kind you're thinking of! 👀
    While this little-known snack might look inauspicious, it has actually been a festive staple for this Teochew family the last 30 years. We can't wait to dig in! 😋

    I don't get why we can't just allow this old lady and other interviewees to speak in their dialects. The stupid Singapore government has erased our heritage by preventing the younger generations from speaking dialects. What a disgusting thing. Is Mandarin our dialect? NO!

    • @myeongwol

      No where mentioned that the grandma was forced to speak Mandarin. Probably it was her language of choice when doing this interview.

    • @AO-iv6yr
      @AO-iv6yr Před 4 lety

      It was her choice because they were trained to learn mandarin from a certain era. My point is we have gotten rid of our linguistic heritage - does not matter whether mandarin is being spoken by this lady or not.
