Black Screen or Screen Won't Turn On? 7 Fixes - Galaxy S21 Ultra

  • I show you how fix a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra phone that has a black screen or the display is blank or just won't turn on even though you know its on as you may get phone calls, feel vibration, see LED notification lights, etc. Let me know which step worked for you and like if it worked and dislike if it didn't work for you. At least 70% of you should have a working S21 Ultra if you tried each step at least 6-7 times. Good Luck.

    Thank you for all your tips . What worked for me was putting the phone in the freezer for 20 mins in a zip lock bag and tissues then giving it a good smack without breaking it and connected it to the charger that I usually charge my phone with. Then I held down both of the volume buttons plus the power button for approximately 30-40 seconds . I held it down even after a little charging symbol came on all the way until the big green charging symbol came on.

    I can't believe Samsung would screw over their customers with this overpriced phone just to have customers deal with this inconvenient issue down the road. It's like bait and switch scam. With this issue the overpriced S21 Ultra phone is not anywhere on Apple's level at all. Even my S10 was used for long periods and still functioning great to this day. S21 Ultra is a failed product.

    Unbelievable! It worked! I tried all the steps in the sequence up to the smacking part and it turn on! After the smacking, I hold down the power and volume down buttons for at least 15 seconds (maybe more) and voila! The key is to be patient and to follow the steps holding back the feeling that you are rather harming your phone. It is counterintuitive to smack or press hard against your phone (I treat my phone very carefully otherwise). I payed attention to the sounds you produced by the tapping, smashing in order to avoid overdoing it and harming the phone. At first I thought you were kidding but after I read the comments I decided to give it a try and that is the same reason I wrote this: to encourage others to try carefully and patiently... It may work for you too!

    Dude… you rock. My daughter dropped her S21 FE 5G and screen went black. We could tell the phone still worked because in her car the Bluetooth connected and we could make calls. I called warranty people to get it fixed and their only solution was replace with refurbished, though her phone only 8 months old. So I decided to checkout CZcams and found your video. Phone was revived (YAY) with your CPR techniques (that’s what it felt like). Anyway we did the steps up to just before the freezer. I did the massage again only this time I pressed with two thumbs right in the center of the screen, careful not to push too hard, just gentle pressure. Suddenly it turned on! Thank you Dude, you rock and I’m subscribed now.

  • @wesd8295
    @wesd8295 Před 2 lety +6

    I had the same problem. I have read a lot in many (comments in) clips. These steps (pushing with thumbs, tapping, freeze method etc.) did not help me with my LCD screen issue. Or make screenshots with the OTG (on the go) cable connected to a monitor which is also helpful. For me the OTG didn’t helped. I bought a HUB in witch you can put a monitor (hdmi), mouse (usb-a), keyboard (use a usb-a to sub-c converter for the keyboard port). This did also not helped in the beginning, which is very frustrating and I already had an appointment at a repair shop. Luckily after a few hours trying to make connection with the HUB, somehow the software Dex made a connection with the HUB through the monitor. So when the HUB is connected with all the cables in it, you can press the mobile power button one time and/or backspace onetime or mouse to see something on your monitor, but normally this shouldn’t be necessary. But take note that it may take time for the software to recognize the HUB/monitor and for yourself to find the knowhows of how to make connection with your devices. Also my S21 ultra was in flight mode. If this wasn’t the case you have the possibility to go to Samsung fine my phone website and unlock your phone. So when I had connection with my HUB on the monitor I stopped the flight mode, I went to setup > accounts and back-up and made a backup of my files in the Samsung Cloud and for my pictures/movies in the Google photo app (I bought 200 GB in the Google cloud). You also have the possibility to connect an external hard drive in the HUB so then you don’t have to buy GB. Also I put the USB debugging on in the developers mode.

It had stopped turning on and I read online that beating it would sometimes fix the issue, but didn't even try at first since it sounded so ridiculous. Was about to send it off for repairs when I decided I'd give it a shot......beat the hell out of it and was shocked to see that it turned on with no issues! For quite a while though I had to give it 4-5 good smacks before it would boot up, thankfully at some point I stopped having to haha.

    This was ticking me off quite a bit - the phone is great in most ways but is clearly still buggy in general, and then my screen just shuts off in the middle of something and didn't turn back on. Tried everything here, freezer twice - 10 mins then 40 mins. Had it up to my neck with this phone. Found a vid saying use either Dex or just plug it in without Dex. I had a multi-adapter, so a USB-C adapter with a few USB-3.0s and an HDMI.
    Plugged that into my monitor, then had to painstakingly swipe up and type in my password blind, which isn't short and has capitals etc. Somehow managed that, ran a software update hoping it would help. Didn't seem to. Then realized I had to enter my password again. Struggled more this time and got locked out a few times.
    Turned off my damn password and tried to troubleshoot some more. Didn't help. Massaged desperately. Went climbing with friends, and a few hours after the initial blackout, my friend uses my phone to check the time, and somehow does so successfully. The screen was back on. Couldn't tell ya why. Maybe that software update patched the issue but it was still stuck in some weird state for a while. No idea. Annoying as sh*t, but at least it didn't last more than a few hours. I'm a Samsung stan, but good grief.

    FIRST, I read all the comments about how this worked and I was like "yeah, right!" I've been having a rough time with cancer and my health (and did not need another huge repair bill...so I did pray to Jesus this time ;)!
    IT WORKED! But let me add, this worked for me, BUT, only when I held it down through 4 resets. In other words, originally, it chimed and I would let go. After 24 hours, I decided to hold down the power button and down volume button, for awhile. The bell chimed four times and then I got the Samsung Screen.
    It went through start up, but when got to the home screen, it went black. I did it again, held down for over 4 chimes and then while the Samsung logo came up (I plugged it in), it worked!
    It was a 97% charged though, so it was not the battery.
    One more thing: I bought a new Samsung Fridge, the handle broke, it leaks. I bought a New Samsung Range, the console flickers 24/7, like a disco, and now this phone!
    I will never buy another Samsung product.
    BUT, thank you @WorldofTech for posting this!

    I find striking the cell phones of any brand just a few times with the large mallet allows me to enjoy my retirement in peace.

    None of this worked for me and my Note 20 Ultra 5G. I had to go hand it in today for repairs. I has never fallen or gotten wet. Doesn't even have a scratch. And the screen just decided to stop working. I'm very very very disappointed in Samsung. This was my authenticating device for almost everything I do daily. Now my life is basically at a standstill.

    I did the whole cycle and the screen didn't turn on immediately after taking it out the freezer. I let it warm up to room temperature for 10-15 minutes before doing all steps again, but decided to hold vol down + power once more.
    Screen works now :)

    Dropped my phone from waist high...the smallest scratch on the bottom left of the screen was present. The phone worked for 5 minutes before it died. I can feel it working because of the tactile feedback but the screen is black with a white horizontal line running through where the fingerprint sensor is.

    Thank you so much!!! I did every step and now I can see a charge signal. Before, each time I forced rebooted it (power button and volume) it flashed white but that was it.
    After I massaged and tapped, £ felt it buzz once. I started the smacking on my palms, it buzzed each time I forced reboot. I smacked it again and all's good!!!
    Thanks again. Appreciate it.

    This is to update my yesterday's post: I lost count how many times i did the steps yesterday. might be more than 20 then I stopped last night. I put my phone in a table and this afternoon, i pressed the 2 keys to force restart - and it's okay!
    Now, my question is why did it happen? it a hassle for me to go to a technician due to lockdowns and so i'm happy that it is okay now. Hopefully it won't happen again.

    Ok, so I wathed through this video I had no hopes as it seems ridiculous. Electronics dies, it just happens. As I charge over the original Samsung round pad it dont add up always. After connecting to computer with Samsung Dex and see that the phone was up and running and fully charged, I force rebooted it. Several times, over and over. No screen, I started massage it gently, front and back. And voila, after a new reboot it booted up with a screen... So, this can help....... ridiculous... :o)

    • @karljohanlundh7499
      @karljohanlundh7499 Před 2 lety

      @Deep Marsonia No, It has been Ok ever since. My thoughts as I have seen many teardown videos, is that I may have dropped or somehow shocked the phone so that the "lego couplings" had gone loose. As I massaged the phone, I heard a "click" and that’s it.
      But I’m normally careful with my phones and even if I've dropped it by mistake, my case and protective screen always keeps it in mint condition util my next switch to a newer model. This will also be in mint condition. But the cases can protect the outer parts, never shocks to the couplings or stabilizers for cameras internaly and they can be damaged or pop loose non the less.
