- I show you how to fix a Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+ or S22 smartphone that has a black screen even though you know the phone is on. So the phone is on but the screen or display won't turn on. Remember if you tried every step and still no go, then try every step a 2nd time, 3rd, try it up to 7 times as many times with 7th time is a charm. HOLY POOP!! i was on vacation, dropped phone on ground, black screen. i THOUGHT my screen(cracked) had gone completely out. i was in the middle of setting up an old phone when i came up on this video. Like many others here. I just bought my phone yesterday and within 8 hours, I got the black screen of death. I was dismayed that when I woke up this morning, and it was still there. But thank God for CZcams and people like you. The first method worked for me. Although, I am happy this method worked, I am disappointed about getting problems like this so early on. I am new to Samsung, although an Android user, and have never come across this problem. Samsung really needs to do a better job of fixing what it obviously a common issue.

Black screen means something is screwed with the OS. I had the 'black screen', but i still had the side bar available and i could swipe and see the apps. When connected to my car, it started playing music from the app, so the phone *was* functioning. I just couldnt see.
This generation of phone is total garbage.

Great job. Phone was off for 3 days. Came across this video. After tapping and massaging and hitting the 911 button ( they called me, by the way) it came on after about 3 times. I was able to avoid the freezer step. I had a replacement phone sent. I may keep the replacement instead of keeping this one, just in case. Thanks for the help because I was hoping not to lose things saved to the phone. 🎉
Hey Man, Thanks for an Awesome Video. I dropped my s22 and when I picked it up the screen was black. Plugged it into my tablet and it was on, and could tell it was on as it wanted to transfer my photos. Still with black screen, tried the reset, as you instructed, and it worked. Saw Samsung Logo and knew I was good to go. Had to do it 3 times. Thank You so much, for a great video that helped.
I was so hesitant but after trying every step with no avail...I placed it in the freezer, attempting the reset did not work immediately out of the freezer but once the phone cooled back to room temperature, I plugged it in and the phone displayed the charging icon. YES! I held the power button and the volume button down at the same time and it came on. Thanks!
How long did you let it stay in the freezer?

Thank you very much, my phone Samsung A32 screen went completely black, but could still ring if called, tried everything, took it to a local phone shop, she just looked at it and said it was dead, I asked how come it rings then? She shook her head, and again said it's dead.
I found yer video, and nothing was working until I tapped it all over, and it's now its working !!!!!! Thank you very much.....I will be visiting that phone shop to show them my phone is now working.....they certainly wont be getting my next phone sale.
I was skeptical after one hour of trying, but after the 7th time, it worked! I had a black screen after I left my phone in the car for more than 2 hours directly under the sunlight. Came back to a black screen on my phone that did not go away even after charging and restarting. I think the freezer part helped my phone. Best of luck to all.

Thanks for this video as it shows many different techniques that can work for fixing a Black screen. I've had my S22 Ultra since the end of Feb and have never had any issues with it.
I believe I got some water in the area of the power button after I cleaned the phone with Windex. One minute the phone was working fine and then I started seeing the screen flicker with the horizontal gray lines. Then it just turned black with the occasional yellow bar at the top of the screen and occasionally some large yellow splotches near thr bottom of the screen. Restarting was impossible since the power button was not functioning.
The next thing I tried was to remove the screen protector since I did notice it was wet right near the power button and didn't want to chance and moisture being trapped in that area. Tapping and massaging the screen did nothing.
So I put the phone in the freezer for 30 minutes and the screen did function normally for 1 or 2 seconds. I then placed the phone back in the freezer for 30 additional minutes and then placed the phone in a box of white rice and didn't touch it all night for roughly 10 hours. Luckily the phone was working perfectly when I woke up. It's been fine so far.
So add the phone in rice technique since one little drop of water in the phone can wreck havoc on the digitizer, screen and power button functionality. So much for the S22 Ultra being water resistant.
my phone was in my slightly damp pocket and I needed to have the USB port replaced due to moisture damage. 🤦♂

Your methods were superb for fixes. But what's the larger issue here, does anyone know? I had the phone for like 2 days and I got this "black screen of death". Seems like a common time frame (early on). Had galaxy since the EPIC. Never had any problems like this, aside from the crappy charging ports failing in the 7 or 8 models. Are we just looking at trash manufacturing possibly? This is bad.

Did you place it in freezer, phone touching freezer or place it on something first inside freezer? I'm about to try this last resort but unsure if I should put it right in as is or in a tub or on a lid of some sort 🤔 thanx ☺️. Glad you're up n running again
It worked!! a few days ago, i dropped my phone and i could only use the s pen to use the screen. My fingers wouldn't work at all. So that was annoying, then earlier at work, my screen went black all of a sudden and i couldn't use the s pen at all either. I force restart the phone MANY times until i started doing the massage trick that you did in your phone, and i even smacked the phone a few times front and back and my phone screen came back on, and I can use my fingers again on the screen. Thank you! You just earned a sub!

The Black Screen happened to me today on my S22 Ultra. I was devastated. Eventually, I saw the flashlight was on but have no idea how long that had been on. I could hear calls, emails, and texts come in. Finally, I started to hit on my phone without knowing any of this. At one point, somebody answered through my black screen. I asked who it was and it was somebody in my contacts. I kept on beating on the phone, finally the flashlight went off and like a miracle my phone came back on. I have no idea what caused it to go black and had no device with me to look for solutions. I wish the person who posted this had addressed the reason this happens and why other phones do not have this problem. I have owned many smartphones and never had anything like this happen before. This should not be happening to a $1500 phone. I am still paying for mine. I have never had a phone do anything like this and it's not like it's an old phone. I loved my S22 Ultra but less so after what happened to me today.

Dont spam the power button it initiated an alarm to 911 and had a call come in from 911 , i had to tell the opporator my phone screen is black and was trying to find a way to get it to work and the video said to spam the power button, she then informed me that , that initiates a 911 emergency call. 🫣 im embarrassed, and my phone is still black and is in the freezer. My phone was working fine and suddenly went black 😭 i can't believe this
My battery was fully drained... I put on charger with cable and also wireless charger but wasn't getting any juice... I tried the 1st attempt via holding volume down and power key with phone not plug into charger... within 30 sec i saw on screen battery low and need charge...
I put on charger and its got life back... 💯✅🔝

Wow! that tapping works on my s8plus. I have been sitting here for nearly 30 mins, have done everything I could find on here including some of your methods to turn my phone on but didn't work. Was worried my phone has come to the end of life at an unexpected time but that tapping worked. Thank you.

When I did the next force restart, I got the logo! Praise God! I prayed this morning to send me a solution and found this video before going somewhere to see how much it would be to replace the screen or get it fixed. I (like others I read here) had ordered a new phone (T-Mobile store didn't order screen and said wouldn't be able to back up if they couldn't get screen on and I have tons of stuff for my business and personal that wasn't backed up) so was desperately looking for a solution to be able to back up info (plugging in USB didn't work even though I'd done that in the past to get files from the phone; tried Smart Switch and that didn't work either). April 09th - 15th 2023 was a very stressful time with my medical, I have a Samsung Galaxy s22 and around 1:45 am I noticed my phone kept glitching when I would try to go into apps so I figured I'd exit out of everything and give my phone a rest, well I turned off the screen left it for not even 10 minutes and I came back to set my alarm and noticed it was messed up even more I had a black screen but the time showed 00:00 and the battery percentage was 57 when previously it said 87 and the finger print was on the screen and the arrow at the bottom but nothing else, instantly I thought to restart but it wouldn't let me so I had a slight mental breakdown because of everything I've been dealing with. I told myself it's ok just go to sleep it'll be fine in the morning, I couldn't sleep 15 minutes later I grab my s10 to Google what to do and your videos were the first to pop up, I looked through the comments while listening and it started giving me anxiety and I said nope not doing it , I was worried it would glitch more and accidentally call the cops or something, so I laid down again and said I'll just let the battery go low enough it'll shut off, a few minutes later I changed my mind and tried holding both the power and volume button down and was surprised and thrilled that it worked! I am currently crying like a baby at now 3:24 am because this made me hit rock bottom, it just felt like a huge what could go wrong now kind of thing. So, thank you so so much, I literally can't thank you enough! 😭🥰 I've had to edit twice now because I'm sleep deprived and mixing up the AM PM 🤣 I'm sorry

This may not be popular but it didn't work for me. I tapped, massaged, slapped and restarted until I was blue in the face. No dice. In my case, my cat pulled a medium sized ceramic planter off a shelf 4 ft above my nightstand which came crashing down on my phone. After paying $209 for a new screen, it still didn't work. I tried a new SIM card, No bueno. They replaced the SIM card reader and I'm finally back online $260 later. I could have purchased a refurbished phone in the color I wanted for $215 but hindsight is 20/20. I'm glad these tips worked for so many others. These tactics have their limits obviously.

Had to report in thinking my phone was a gone, after a warranty already for the screen. Screen stopped working when I laid on working on my truck. Tried DEX, power on and off. Almost skipped the smacking the screen thinking no way in hell this is going to work. Few hard smacks on the back back and like a newborn she came to life!

after one year of black screen, dropped it in the freezer and forgot it for 2 days all frosty..wraped with a cloth overnight..charged it..done all those pressing buttons and banging..nothing worked until I removed that screen protector, then power+voulume down and voila!!!! My fone vibrates while holding the side force restart, but still no samsung sign 😢 my fones only 2 weeks old , I'm so frustrated. I keep trying everything showen but still no luck.... does the vibration mean that's probably the samsung sign appearing but just can't see due to being black?? X

My S21 ultra keeps getting the black screen, ive tried everything on this and previous videos, it starts woking once i let it sit on the freezer for 15-20 mins, then it crashes back again whenever i try to do an update, backup, let it sit by itself or anything else, i asume its because its overheating. I dont know what else to do, ive tried uninstalling apps and deleting vids or pics to free up storage but it crashes anyway. im so frustrated.
