    I’ve bought two scooters with my fiancé in Cebu. Have to bring cash or do a bank transfer, no credit card. Though I can buy a ton of furniture costing twice as much as a scooter and use my credit card. After buying scooter you get a one day for registration plate so you can drive it home. And then it’s 30-45 days until you get notified you can get a permanent registration plate. So until then drive at your own risk of gettin* stopped at a check point. That said the second bike we bought at Yamaha took less than 30 days for us to get perm plate. It’s more fun in the Philippines! 🙃

      Yeah, I paid cash for my bike and I’m hoping it doesn’t take too long for the registration. The guy said it’s mainly Cebu and that other islands will vary with registration time. We’ll see. Thanks for watching:)

      that suxs, last one i bought I was able to ride it off lot with some kind of temp tags, this was 2012. I went to Davao City and they wanted me to wait 30 days to get the tags to ride legally, I went to a little town south called Digos and paid cash and was able to ride off legally, I was only there for 30 days so I didn't have time to wait.

    Aerox in the City all day for me. If you want the 160cc only you can switch out the CVT and change yr fly balls depending your weight and it will give you 10 more cc around. It cost about 5k( Php ) and can be done in an hr or so.

      I would love to get a Honda ADV 160 but they're nowhere to be found. I ended up getting the RE Hunter 350. Now i'm just waiting on the registration

      @@CarefreeChrisf I ever downsize in CC /weight, I was looking at the KTM Duke 390 cc.. but the Hunter is a nice choice.

      Yeah. That’s a great bike too. I was also really looking at the 401 by Husqvarna. It was close between the 401 and the Hunter 350. Who knows, maybe that one too down the road and the ADV 160:)

    Hey I was wondering if you could outline the process. You can walk in with cash and pay. Can you drive off the lot legally like in America for 30 days?

    • @CarefreeChris
      @CarefreeChris  Před 7 měsíci

      You cannot. The bike needs to register with the local government offices, which takes roughly 2 months. The motorcycle dealership will give you the registration once it’s complete. They’ll give you a paperwork to drive it home that day but after that, you gotta park it.

    Hi I have been to Philippines several time have friend there that if I buy one I can leave it there when I come.
    My question is I’m from USA and want a new bike I know it takes time to get registration. With that being said what kind of documentation do I need just my USA drivers? Or did I need Philippines drivers license and acr card?
    Thanks

    • @CarefreeChris
      @CarefreeChris  Před 9 měsíci

      US drivers license with a motorcycle endorsement is good for 90 days. Then you can get your Philippines license.

    I bought my Yamaha Mio scooter(2018) with my credit card in Cebu City. They charged me 3% more for charging it on my Credit card. Think the cost brand new was around 88000 pesos with helmet. It has a front floor board to carry more stuff with lots of room. Got it delivered same day I bought it. Still have it but it doesn't get that great of gas mileage as I thought it would.

    Be careful with the bike, especially in Manila. I've been safely riding in the states since 1980. I got a car here. I'm feeling safe again.

    • @CarefreeChris

      Yes, I got my registration but the plates take a couple years. What you do is you print off your own plate at print shop. :)

      @@CarefreeChris Oh wow! How long did it take to get your registration back on the new bike? I want a new bike, but I’d take a lightly used 21-22 if was just easier paperwork wise. I bought a new cb500x here in Thailand and it took 3.5 months to get my permanent tags! But I could still ride on on the temp tags issued at the dealer. Since you’ve done it both ways, what would you suggest? I really appreciate your feedback and loving the channel. Maybe we can meet up for a ride when I get there next month after I get a condo and bike of course :)

    Get a big bike, if you stay there you will like it better, rides much better and won't kill your back from all the bumps in the roads.

      @@CarefreeChris I bought a Honda XR 125 back in 2011, I was just visting then I didnt want to wait for a trike to go up the road. I just visit Philippines about 2 to 3 times per year for 30 days. My relative moved there few years ago, he got the Honda similar to what you wanted he said it was just too small in he long run so he got a big bike for the comfort. I am done with motorbikes, I went back to PI after the lockdowns in May of 2022 and rode my motorbike for 2 days all over, 3rd day the front disc brake locked up and threw me over front and I was going like 10 mph, Broke my hip I had to spend 8 weeks in hospital in near Davao city, I had helmet on, but my hip broke, They did hip replacement surgery there and it was a botched operation, the part they used was too small for me since I am 6'2" tall and like 230lbs, I was finally able to fly back to USA with a walker and had to have hip replacment surgery redone in USA. I didn't walk for months after my first botched surgery, but that another story. Good luck but I suggest going bigger it much more comfy unless your small framed guy.

    Do you know why it takes so long to get a motorcyled registered? Greed they don't trust the dealers with titles.

    • @CarefreeChris
      @CarefreeChris  Před rokem

      I'm not sure the exact reason why it takes so long. The salesperson did say it's different depending on which local government you're working with. He went onto say that here in Cebu it can take months while in Luzon it can take weeks.

    • @mikejones5364
      @mikejones5364 Před rokem

      @@CarefreeChris The titles are never kept at the dealership, afraid of theft of title. They ship the motorcycles all over PI to dealership and places like Honda keep the titles in one place secured, so once they sold enough motorbike at a certain place they send a bunch of sales receipts to get title changed, dealership want to save money so they sent a large amount at one time to save money.
