- In todays episode I'm potting on another succession of lettuce for summer. Oakleaf lettuce are my ultimate favourite lettuce. I've sorted all the shed out and sorting all the pots ready for next years sowing ans growing. The weather is beautiful, sunny and warm..use those days to embrace the garden. I harvested all the berries to make some mixed berries jam. A new plotholder donated 6 shrubs to the Fig and olive plot. I went to their plot as they didn't want them. Their plot is small and they wanted to use all the space they had for growing fruit and vegetables. I planted them in the new oval raised bed. Some French lavender, turned out to be English lavender.

The polyculture on this allotment plot is fantastic. all the plants working together in harmony.
The mole deterrents are annoying me more than the moles.
I've weeded all the Grapevine garden. I've noticed the runnerbeans aren't producing as well down the grapevine garden. Next doors are looking well. we all get garden envy!
Checking the soil pH and testing the soil is on the list of jobs to do.
I'm also considering starting a new channel!!
I sowed some carrots in the metal raised beds for a winter harvest.
Amber my niece has some screen time. I bought her a greenhouse for her garden and she's been growing so much. She even has her own allotment in her garden.
In the next video I'm going to show you how to add power offgrid to your allotment / garden.

Well Danny you’ll be glad to know Mike and I have put our heads together and come up with some must have ideas for your birthday. Now - bear with me - have you considered a zip wire? This would allow you to travel between the plots with ease, and cuts out the perennial risk of having your eye poked out by that hedge. Also, Mike feels that Mr Moley and his friends have been suffering from some bad press recently, and a way to redress the balance would be to provide them with some small tweed jackets - maybe with velvet elbow pads for that extra touch of luxury. I’m sure we’ll think of many more ideas before your birthday itself but we thought it best to get the most obvious ones out of the way first. Hope that helps x

📆 Oh yeah, I have started planning for next year! I’ve grown on 40-odd 🍓 runners to replace my 3yo plants (figuring they’ve likely peaked this year), I’m changing e layout of that 🍓 bed for next year, I got a Bosch water pump which is so successful that I’m now trying porous soaker hoses for next season, and I’ve got my over-wintering Cauli’s growing on under some InsectoNet!
🎁 As for a gift, one of my favourite things that I’d suggest is highly likely to get nicked by some 🤬 so I wouldn’t recommend it as such, but it’s a Weather Station. I got a Davis unit with a data logger and it is fabulous. I love studying the data it saves me for, directly from my garden.

Do you have a dehydrater? For your birthday or some kind of swing seat for you to put your feet up and relax on your plot. I not sure if you have a fig peach or quince tree or a nut tree like walnut? That’s the fastest growing nut I believe we have one it’s in its second year now. I think it would be nice for you to have some lovely crafted photo albums to keep. With pics from the very start of your plots and especially more recently with your nephew and niece they are such amazing pics and memories. It’s different to having on your phone or camera in files. To get out the albums of a winters eve and look through would be so wonderful. Anyway just ideas Danny take care we are currently in st ives cornwall on holiday 👍🙋🏻take care
A dehydrator is a fantastic idea Mandy! I have a hazelnut tree on the boundary hedge of the grapevine plot. It attracts so many squirrels haha! I've many albums. I love real photos and my staircase is also covered in photo frames of memories and family ❤️

Not sure if it's your thing but I installed some solar LED lights in my greenhouse recently and it just adds a lovely touch... I imagine they'd look nice on your bean/flower arches.
My greenhouse has an led set of strips in there & I agree it's brilliant. Around the arches is a good idea!

I'm struggling with any type of climbing beans lately. Dwarfs are no problem though. Sowed two trays of runners and i think i have one plant possibly. Sowed Cobra after that and even those aren't doing great.
My advice..sow them at home. In a cooler room. They are fussy in summer..Danny 🌱

Danny, for your B'day you need a solar fan for your shed especially on those hot sweltering days. You would be able to use it in your greenhouse and your camper van. You are just as lovely as your gardens!

I'm thinking of putting a little seating area with twinkle lights outside. YES! Do those things that make you happy. Excited times Danny! Brilliant idea with the new channel, my neighbour built his camper van and it’s brilliant, they are always on the go. Thinking about gifts, you are hard to buy for lol what haven’t you got lol 😂 how about a large mature Strelizia Reginae Bird of Paradise plant, you can keep it in ur polytunnel over winter. In the summer add tropical vibes to the plot

The allotment looks incredible with the sunshine the lush green colour and flower beds are a 10 out of 10 from me Danny.
My moles were causing carnage for about 2 months until they got bored with wrecking everything so I guess they'll be off once the worms have been eaten.
I'm not having a great growing season and runner beans have always done really well for me but there are less bees and pollinators and I truly believe living under so many flight paths is no good thing. I've always wanted a campervan but there will be so many ULEZ
And other climate scams coming in I decided it won't be worth it sadly.

Yep ..... I planted tomato seeds, four germinated, I nurtured the plants, they were all the same size when I potted them up and they all established nicely. I gave one plant to my son - his is bigger than any of mine and has loads of tomatoes all turning red ... my tomatoes are, just now, thinking about forming … go figure 😆

Dog 💩 Worked a treat for me at a previous property. A bit yucky but basically you drop a poop bomb down the mole hole tunnel. They clear off! Just keep going until they move away from the plot.
The issue is, I'd not want that in the soil when I'm growing food in it 🙈🙈

We dug or tootled around in the middle of our main crop potatoes and we got a really big one but it’s being chewed on and we think it must be rats😩 never had that ever b4 so what do we do? @@TheGrowUpChannel Yes many years ago before it became popular had a few different vans, the easiest material to use is Aluminum 8020 a few nuts and brackets and you have a whole kitchen unit, so easy to use and very strong.

In my youth I did up, with help, an old vw van. What a wonderful couple of summers I had, post first degree, before I sold it to a band that gutted it for their equipment. I cried. O well. I think Amber’s garden should have a channel. And, you mentioned American and international viewers. Canadians are international I suppose but we are not no way no how American, even if we do love our neighbours. Lol! On another note, my runner beans are coming in strong, but I don’t know what to do with the Borlotti beans which I want to dry. How can I both leave them to dry and pick them to improve the harvest?
