It's time for a change in the garden

- in todays episode I have a look around the gardens at whats working and what isn't. what has become obsolete and what is needed to create a better growing space in the garden. Using the diy skills I've gained over the years, I'm forever aiming to improve the garden year by year. Gardens are forever changing and are never the same. Each year you grow as a gardener and the garden matures too. I decide to strip back the garden and make it more enjoyable and a better space to grow in. I also show you how I fix a fence. A neighbouring plotholders fence broke due to the weight of one of my barrels, so I fixed and repaired the fence using half rounds

I just love your enthusiasm about every little thing. You are one of the few people I watch that totally relates to my garden. I don't even need to talk about my garden because you just seem to express everything in my mind and heart. Thank you Danny. I hope my garden makes it through the next couple of days with tornados, high wind...and critters. ❤
Thank you Linda! That's lovely! Fingers crossed for you! Tornados .. thats something we don't have to deal with. Thankfully! Let's hope you get through it okay 🤞
Oh, those are wonderful plans, I'm really looking forward to seeing you there. Your commitment is really contagious! Thanks!
Thank you! My plans change all the time haha! But I keep plodding on daily 😂🌱
All your ideas are innovative and as you know alreadyI love visiting and chatting about gardening 😊
Thank you Cheryl..I can still picture your face when you first seen the pond haha! Always welcome cheryl 😊
@TheGrapevineGarden I know it was amazing to see it. I couldn't believe it. So good!!
Hi Danny, I'd like to think that my rain dance worked for you, and gave you your much needed rain 🤣
Have a great week ahead, happy gardening xx
Haha Jean I actually looked up when it rained and said Thank you Jean!!! It worked! Another would be great right now! Haha keep dancing Jean!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great video as always🤗🇨🇦
Thank you Joanne 🥰🥰🌱
Definitely keep the greenhouse .
I'm seriously considering it now haha
“Person centred to your needs… “ that’s the nurse in you talking lol 😂
Haha you know it 😂😂😂
Maybe combine the idea for a seating area and keeping the greenhouse? It would make a loverly seatingplace in the colder month or when it rains?? Maybe make it open on one side?? Put nice lighting and your small heater? You could have dinners there?? Lots of idea’s!! Keep up the good work and thanks for your inspiration ❤️
Those are fantastic ideas too! Thank you Barbara & thanks for watching! Danny 🌱
Plots looking great Danny, hope you don’t regret getting rid of the greenhouse!
Thank you Michael! I think the greenhouse is staying 🤦♂️😂 so many ideas and so many I love & never considered ! Thanks for watching! Danny 😊🌱
It's my it fab to see the green colours of everything growing from month to month. Even weeds can be a good thing for the wildlife 🌱
Weeds can balance the soil too. They do have a purpose. We just don't like to see them haha
@@TheGrowUpChannel Eric's a firm believer of 'if you can't eat it, don't grow it or get rid!' But I'm trying to sway him round to have more flowers #wishmeluck 🤣🤣
@ericandrachallotmenteers 😂😂😂😂
I'm also one of your older viewers, 77yrs at last count. Not long inti your videos, but really enjoying everything so far. I have to say I was shocked to think you were thinking of getting rid of your greenhouse. I would be lost without mine. I don't grow as much produce as you, but I would dread not having a greenhouse. But of course, entirely your decision. Looking forward to your next video. Thanks for sharing.
Madeleine ! So pleased you enjoy my videos! It's not set in stone yet, I'm just struggling to use it , now I have a polytunnel. I would ultimately love a half brick & half wooden / glass greenhouse.. thats the dream ! 😊 maybe one day. Lovely of you to comment. Always nice to have new people commenting. Thank you for watching. Danny 😊🌱
Video on setting up solar would be great. Having the ability to charge devices at the plot would be so handy.
Consider it done! I'll try and show as much as I can 😊😊😊🌱
Brillent Vidio I love seeing what can be done X I also love the pigeon ha ha xxxx
Thank you Susan! The pigeon needs a name! Haha! He may aswell..hes there more than me 🙄🤣
I think Peter the pigeon p p for short XXX live it XX I'm glad Gemma told me about your super vidios xxxhave a lovely week xxx
@susanmatthews-bp1mv Peter the pigeon it is! Haa aww thanks Susan xx
Danny you need your plot to work for you so do any changes that make more sense. Listen to your heart and all will work out ♥️
Thank you angie! You always speak sense to me. Is that scary? Hahaa!
@@TheGrowUpChannel very scary 😈🤣
Wih we had rain mate. plot looking great
Desperate for rain now Tony!
Danny, I can appreciate the way you are rethinking how you use the two plots. Your original grapevine plot is the perfect vacation space, and the fig and olive, more of the nursery, working garden! You know, you could enlarge your chicken run so the girls have more space when you have to keep them under cover from avian flue. And expanding the sitting area by the pond will add more relaxing space for you. all you need then is a cupboard for your tools and chicken food, instead of the shed.... And a pergola with a roof to shelter from the sun or unexpected showers, and to protect/screen off your bbq or cook top. Looking forward to seeing what you decide on! ooooh string some solar fairy lights around the pond! that would be pretty too!
You hit the nail on the head Carol! Definitely going to sit down this week and work out my plans. Some great ideas you have! Thank you! Danny 🌱
Keep the green house !!!! You can put a diesel heater in the green house. You will be able to start the growing season earlier. The green house will be easier to heat than a polytunnel.
That's a good point delme. They do keep warmer than a poly.. I never considered using it to overwinter plants..
If you don’t need the greenhouse; replace the glass, with netting and use it as a fruit or brassica cage.
Another great idea! Cheers Andrew!
Nice update Danny, I always get excited when I hear you have plans 😂 good idea to free some space for more beds and space for chooks. Totally agree about a nice seating area!
Haha! I should just settle and leave things be 😂 but change can be good too! Thanks Amir 😄😄
As it looks like we are going to get chicken lockdowns every winter now, how about keeping the brown shed and adding a run extension between the two sheds. Open up part of the end of the brown shed then your gorgeous chooks can have a luxury home with undercover play area for the next lockdown. Room for more rescues too 😁
Another great idea! I love all these ideas. Some I hadn't even considered!
Another gardening 💣Danny😁.I have a seating area but after 10 minutes all the jobs are staring at me to get done🤣.
Gardening is much like a roller-coaster as the ups and downs are all part of the ride.
Haha you are so right! I said to a plotholder about my seating area plans and he goes... but you don't stop! When will you find time to sit down 😂😂😂
Rain at last for your plot, we don’t have water on our allotment site 🙁 so we are always grateful when it does rain, considering you work too your plots are amazing, big changes can’t wait 👍
I dont know how you cope without a tap! I try and collect so much water & I'm planning on collecting more. That must be such a challenge Linda!
We have 3 plots all made into one and we have 5 sheds a greenhouse and a small poly. Each shed has its use
What would the 5 shed uses be? I'm curious mandy 😊😊
Hi think your allotment is just fantastic I only have a small back garden but I do have a green house 😅
Thanks John! It's a lit of work! More than I show on the channel. Many hours of work.. but I enjoy it 😊 happy growing! Danny 🌱
Just a thought for you to ponder! How about moving the ICB, extend the chicken run and joining it to the shed, making a small door into the shed so the chickens have another nesting area. Saves getting rid of the shed and alot of hard work! Justin and Eirian in North Wales
I've not considered that tbh! I'll have a good think tonight. Thank you for watching both! Danny 😊🌱
Wow Danny….so much to look forward to seeing in the future….can’t wait to see all the projects! I will be really interested in seeing how to set up some solar for when I do my shed upgrade! I’d get rid of the pear trees , keep the greenhouse and ditch one of the sheds! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼😁Will 🌻
Cheers Will! The pears aren't producing well sadly. They've been on the plot for donkeys years so maybe I need a new cropper. .. thanks for watching will. Danny 🌱
Lose a shed and move the greenhouse to the Fig and Olive for winter seedlings or use the frame as a fruit cage .Seating area sounds great !
I think the shed is the logical thing to lose.. looking forward to the seating area 😊🌱
Since most of your harvest is in the Grapevine garden why not remove the one shed and replace with an outdoor room, trellis, gazebo, etc add growing fines for shade and nice sitting. It would be lovely. Also I would extend the chicken coop as well even if only for the nice weather. It all would be so lovely.
Lovely suggestions Debra! An outdoor room would be lovely ! I'm going to plan it all this week and see what I come up with. Danny 🌱
Hi yes I know that excitement
It's a good feeling 😊🌱
I would keep the Greenhouse as you can use it for seedlings and over wintering plants.
I expect food prices to rocket in the coming years as the farmland is going to rewilding and green energy projects so
The extra growing capacity is going to be a must.
You may just be right Ian! I may hold onto it for now..
Rain, glorious rain! Sometimes we have to have a talk with our seeds/plants and threaten to pull them if they don't behave 🤣. So glad the ginger and turmeric decided to straighten up and behave! The girls will love having a larger hen castle. So many great plans, and I'm sure you'll make them happen. Great vid, Danny.
I threatened the pear trees a few months ago. Ship up or I'm chopping you down! They fruited for the first time 😂
@@TheGrowUpChannel 🤣🤣🤣🤣You sure showed them!
Haha! They have 1 last chance lol
As far as I know you need two pear trees to pollinate each other so make sure there is another one somewhere nearby if you are only going to replant one tree.
Thank you Helen..definitely something to consider. Luckily there's 3 pear trees 2 plots down. So...i should be okay.. I think..
It all looks great looking fwd to seeing the projects you have plannedxx
Thank you Penny! 😊😊🌱
I think you're right getting rid of some of the sheds
Sometimes space can be used more efficiently 😊 so it's a huge consideration
Morning Danny, so looking forward to you solar video in the future as want to do this on my plot this winter too, love what your doing.
Thank you. It'll be recorded very soon. Its handy for winter, for sure 😊 . Danny 🌱
Hey well I am a new viewer to your channel and very much enjoy your videos it gives me a lot of ideas for my home garden keep up the amazing work!!!
Hello Jack! Thanks for watching and commenting! Nice to see new viewers commenting! Thanks for watching! Good luck with your home garden! Danny 🌱
Your rose arch is gorgeous! So many beautiful loganberries! Your chicken will love more space. In my opinion, moving the greenhouse next to your poly tunnel at the Fig and Olive Plot makes sense so it gives you extra room when the poly tunnel is full. Then you have your undercover growing area all in one space, making it easier to keep an eye on and water. I just would dread the dismantling and the rebuilding of it, those greenhouses are so tricky to build…😱! I would replace the old pear trees for a new one you, then you can place it where you want it to be. Make sure you really don’t need the shed space before you get rid of one shed. So many months of the year are cold and windy ones, indoor, protective space is needed then. Whatever you decide to do, it will be great! You do everything so well! 😊👍🌸😘
Thanks Nanou! I can't take credit for the Rose arch! I wish! It's cliffs a plotholder. It's come beautiful!! You are right about the wind and protective space. I'll seriously consider every angle before i make my final decision. 😊 Danny
Hi Danny,
Whatever you decide will be right for you. But, I do agree, a nice shady seating area is a must!
Have a great week making plans!
Take care, Annie 🐞 🐝 🌱
Ideally I'd love that posh summerhouse you have Annie! Send me yours? Haha! Thanks Annie 😊🌱
@@TheGrowUpChannel hahaha....NO!
But you are welcome here anytime for a coffee and a natter!!! 😉😊
Thank you Annie 🙂☕️
The pears can be pruned right back in the winter to make a good small framework and start getting the fruiting spurs to grow again and be a lot more productive, no need to get rid of. Can surplus fruit be fed to chickens to give a varied diet? A grape could be grown in the greenhouse an maybe an espalier peach or apricot, strawberries grown around the bases for a earlier harvest too. Lots of people I know also stick a seat in the greenhouse and use it in the winter to warm up a bit also. Just thought I'd throw out some ideas, what ever you deside I'm sure we will enjoy watching you do it. The plots are looking great, have fun making your plans.
Those are fantastic ideas and some I've not even considered!!! Thank you so much for this. It's ideas I haven't even thought of and you're right! It could be used better... even if in winter. Danny 🌱
I think the girls would love an expansion to their abode. I’d be hesitant to get rid of the greenhouse, would think it earns a spot for early seed starting at minimum. It could possibly be a chicken composting system through the cooler months. Edible acres is a YT channel in New York…they have developed a cool system for the chicken compost making under cover. Holler Homestead also gets the chicks making garden gold. Something to think about anyway.
That's a lot to consider and I shall look into those channels for some inspiration. 😊
I love the idea of the solar system. I want to do this in my new shed which is near my pond and I want a proper pump in there to keep it clearer but also it’s close to the polytunnel so could run an irrigation system to there. The roof of the shed is flat and gets the sun most of the day so ideal to place the solar panel. I’m excited now 😂
You don't want much from this solar powered system Denise 😂😂 it can be done though! 😊
@@TheGrowUpChannel I am ever the optimist 😂
Oh I know 😂😂😂
Have you got room at home for your green house, so you can start your seeds at home in the winter/ spring... save going the plots after a long shift when it's dark xxx
I wish I did! I have room for a small greenhouse, which would be ideal for that purpose. I've considered it before. Maybe I'll ask others on the site if they'd like to swap so they'd have a larger greenhouse. Food for thought. Danny 🌱
Danny. Very interested in your Solar Power set up.
It'll be upcoming John. I've had quite a few message this year about how the grapevine runs on solar power.. so I think I'll do a feature video on it very soon. Danny
Hey Danny, I’m on team got rid of the sheds and the greenhouse. It’s easier to have all the seedlings together. No sense in going backwards and forwards with supplies and to care for them.
The chickens will adore a bit more room and sometimes you just need an old fashioned massive declutter!
I can’t wait to see your seating area. I need to upgrade the seating in my little patch too. Gardens are meant to be enjoyed as well.
YESSSS Kellie! Haha exactly what I mean..if I have to travel back and forth for seedlings it'll become a huge chore.. I'd rather them altogether... so I'll spend the next fee days deciding what's best.. and definitely a de-clutter . Danny 🌱
Hmm 🤔 pigeon pie 🥧. I’ll take old holy I look in the mirror and it’s confirmed 😂😂😂. Looking fab and project ideas are great Benny, Jackie ❤❤🇨🇦
😂😂😂 confirmed..indeed haha! What I should do is rest this winter haha!
Hi Danny, great idea increasing the chickens area, they will love more space. The greenhouse is a tough decision, I only have a polytunnel and is adequate for my growing needs. That said you cam always donate to someone on site who would love another greenhouse, having another plot with a huge polytunnel, I think you are right in giving it up as you said, you have enough to grow what you Nedd too. I love your videos, you have lots of advice & we can help too, I certainly learn from all your videos & get some ideas too for my plot too ❤ thanks for sharing and take care 😊
Aww thanks Christine. Plenty of decisions to make. Really happy with how it's gone this year. Danny 🌱
As you chat further in this episode you talk absolutely it somewhere to sit…You could also convert the greenhouse into a covered space to eat by taking out some of the glass and adding wooden panels so you can be shaded and sheltered from the rain and wind.
Yeah it's a lovely space. This week I'll have a good think what to use it for 😊
You could keep the coop as is, remove a shed, add some beds andmake a chicken tractor to fit ovrr your beds. Get those chooks working for you and just put them away at night?
I've seen those!!! Youve got me thinking now!!!! Lol
@@TheGrowUpChannel im moving back to wales so watch out id love to come and see your plot!

@@TheGrowUpChannel i look forward to seeing it 🪴🥬
Hi Danny, wow plots are looking magic.. I'd be interested to see how to install solar panels to put some lights ect up. Like you I often pop to the plot after a long 12 hour shift to unwind so it would be good to see where I'm going. 😅
Hey Jackie! That's made me think of showing the 2 different systems as if you only want lights... there's a cheaper version (smaller battery etc) for lights. I'll put it all into a video very soon. Hopefully it will be helpful . Danny 🌱
I'd move the greenhouse nearer the polytunnel you would soon fill it peppers melons etc
Very true! I've considered using it for melons 😊
@@TheGrowUpChannelbut you’ve got to grow melons Danny!
@lisaskilton3746 I have grown melons? Well 1 melon plant haha its in the polytunnel 😊
Solar set up for shed and greenhouse would be great pease
Consider it done! I'll film a video very soon 😊🌱
Another great video but that and most everything else has been said! However, just let me reiterate one thing….they’re your plots, for your enjoyment, so you only have to please your!! Oh, and I’m one of the oldies😂! Peace-
Haha! Not oldies! I worded that terribly didn't I hahaha! But agreed they are my little sanctuaries and they have to work for me. 😊🌱
I can't quite believe you haven't already got a seating area - you definitely need one - great place for cooking with your tent stove outside as well! We had the same thing with our greenhouse - now we've got the polytunnel we don't really use it but .... now it's the perfect place to grow peaches - why don't you give it a go? It's always fun to be planning for the future - gives us all something to look forward to! Well done that man!
And thank you for the shout out!
I dont know why I've still not sorted the seating area. Shameful! I'm not a huge peach fan! However I'm looking forward to seeing how you get on with yours Jane ♡♡
The seating area is a good idea, you need somewhere you can sit and relax, not just work! If you're not using the greenhouse maybe it's not worth keeping, you know best what you need and want on your plot and it's a waste if it's just being used as another storage area. Those loganberries look great, I've never tasted one! Have a great week 😀
Thank you! Yeah it's certainly a lot to decide. Thank you! Loanberries are lovely. Great for jam !
🥰👋👋

I'd be interested in seeing your solar set up on a budget I was looking into it for my plots ,mainly for pumps and lighting so I'll look forward to seeing what you do
Your plots are looking fantastic
Good stuff Paul! I've got solar at the grapevine, I have lights In every building including the greenhouse and coop! You never know when you need light! I've also got plug sockets in the shed and USB sockets for phones etc... its also connects to the pond, I have a pond pump in that's run for free via the sun. Stay tuned for the Fig and olive installation.. thanks for watching Paul. Means a lot! Danny 🌱
@@TheGrowUpChannel I'll look out for the video that sounds just what I'm looking for

@TheGrapevineGarden I'll keep a look out if your going to make a video on it .
It'll be good to see what you've done
@paulmcgraw5953 😂😂 the correct answer is " I watch every video of yours so I won't miss it " 😂😂😂😂 haha nah it won't be long now before I install it all paul 😊
Glad you had the rain!
Perhaps have a real good sort out of all your structures then see if you actually need the greenhouse. Tbh, I’d defo keep the greenhouse for spare chickens that need to be kept separate from the others until ready to integrate. Also useful for keeping chickens in during a flock down and for making compost. It’s also a water collection point and useful for hosepipe bans.
Those are great reasons to keep it! I have to admit. Things I hadn't considered either....
Danny would you consider growing something fun in the greenhouse instead of food if you don’t need any more food space such as cacti and succulents? You could make a little diorama in there! 😀 None eggs hehe 🐓
That's a cute idea!!! I am a huge succulent fan you know!
👍
Thank you locke 😊🌱
So much going on already and lots of fabulous plans, I'm looking forward to seeing plans come to fruition ☺ I'll be honest and say I'd actually forgotten that you had a greenhouse, if you're not using it then I completely agree you could use the space for something else. Another cracking update 😊🌱 xx
Thanks Roo! Yeah it would be a shame to see it go but I'm just not using it. Sadly!
Love that you have so many structures for height on your new plot. Might think about that for next yr. I do have an entrance arch way with Madame Alfred Carrierre rose climbing up. Ps re the greenhouse issue…why not take the glass out of the greenhouse, net it and make it a fruit cage.
Oh that rose sounds beautiful! A fruitcage would be handy!
I think I qualify as being classed as an older viewer(75 this year)so I won't take offence 😂😂. I think we can tell who your older viewers are because we like to be less than polite on occasions because we know you like a laugh. That's what attracted me to your channel, you make it so much fun and even when things go wrong you still add a bit of humour, at the end of the day our plots are supposed to be a relaxing place to forget about the tedious things in life and enjoyment needs fun and laughter and you certainly bring that to us Danny. I understand what you mean about having too many buildings, but I do think a greenhouse is worth keeping, I understand that you now have the polytunnel, but as you saw sometimes that bit of extra protective growing space early in the season comes in handy, it allows you to get things in the ground in the tunnel and still have seedlings underway in the greenhouse. Only you can make the decision,at the end of the day it's your plots and you know how you are using the space. Love your video as usual and yes the excitement of rain, everything seems to grow better after the rain.
Oh absolutely! Haha! I have a wicked sense of humour and the viewers who have been watching a long time are cheeky as hell! Haha but I enjoy the banter. 😊 I didn't realise you were 75! You act about 25 😂 I will consider what you said about the greenhouse as it could become handy! Someone suggested using it on winter for the chickens... so I could move it closer to the coop.. food for though..
im a Vintage Viewer lol xx
You're a 'classic'.
Danny, don’t get rid of your pear trees, they may be old but prune them plus they do have dormant years! you’ve seen our random apple and pear trees that falling over but still producing! they don’t need to be a perfect shape 🥰
lots of thoughts to think a out. other comments do seem to suggest to try to move the greenhouse next to the poly! if you remember you were debating not to have the mini poly tunnel end of last year and you’re keeping it now. just need some ideas on the sheds and coop!
nice one
I'm not a huge pear lover. Like I'd never eat a pear fresh. They just aren't for me. I haven't fully decided yet what I'm doing. All to be revealed....
@@TheGrowUpChannel we don’t eat too many fresh but cook with them for jam, crumbles but also cider plus liqueurs!
Delighted you got rain whoohoo, i did try send some over, weve had soooooo much here. I havent really watered in a few weeks. Danny the fig and olive now looks like youve had it for years. You do have alot of sheds etc,im sure you will figure out whats best for you. Love the idea of a seating area, i love mine,i reduced mine in size, have a umbrella too. Its lovely to have somwjere to even just sitback and enjoy ypur hobbie ,and take it all in.Never even thought of why you called it the grapevine garden, lucky you to have a vine. Harvested my loganberries today, arent they just gorgeous. Place is looking superb Danny. Sit down and look at pros and cons of that greenhouse, its your plot, i have none, and one day hope to have one. Would you think of growning your vines in there. Thanks for a great video.
Thanks Lorraine! Loads to consider but you're so right! I've considered grapes in the greenhouse a few times but back then i needed the space..... that's not a bad idea you know! Hmm.. you've got me thinking now 😂🤦♂️😂
@TheGrapevineGarden it's one I will be doing , when one day I move to a place where we can have them. Danny I stood in my plot today, and said I'm cutting down most my fruit bushes, came home and thought am I really going too ha ha,we are constantly thinking and mulling over it all. The seating area by the chickens will be great, they will live having you down by them. My word, with a seating area, we will see you stop ,sitting and relaxing, that's a plus in itself. Can't wait to see what you do.
Haha that's the thing.. Will the seating area just gather dust 😂😂
@TheGrapevineGarden oh no,it won't,I have strawberries growing on z pallet behind mine,I eat lunch there,I sit and look to see what to be done. You would have family over, whoever comes to the table, could bring a part of the lunch, and you have yours from your plot for the lunch. Imagine, you and your guests talking at the table. The table could be a old cable wheel, chairs made out of pallets.
It's such a good feeling to get those jobs ticked off, I always find the jobs you think are going to be really hard are not that difficult and the ones you think will take 5 minutes turn into a right fiasco. Maybe if you moved your greenhouse to the fig and olive plot you would use it more as a seed storage place which means you could plant things out earlier in your polytunnel? Seems a shame to get rid of a greenhouse. It's all looking great Danny. Take care 😊
Absolutely bethan! The list is never empty ! Haha! Yeah I'll probably keep it or get a smaller one. I really want a nice small wooden greenhouse. We can all have dreams haha

Ours are not council land it’s a private landowner and it’s marked for building but we have 9 years of gardening left.
Omg that would be horrible knowing the times ticking down. 9 years is a long time I suppose. I hope you're on a waiting list for another plot though ?
You are a great ideas man Danny. If you know you are not going to use your greenhouse and as your polytunnel is bit enough to serve both plots (the poly tunnel is fantastic), then why keep the greenhouse. Although as a newish greenhouse owner I LOVE mine. But I don't have the polytunnel of dreams so I would.
Also giving your chickens more room would help massively if (fingers crossed Not) there was another outbreak of bird flu this autumn/winter, you would worry less about your girls and keeping them happy and occupied. My sister has basically given up her chickens because of the two bird flu lock downs and she was unable to extend her chicken house run on her allotment dues to strict rules on the size of structures on their site. It has put her off keeping chickens on her allotment for the time being.
I can't wait to follow the journey through autumn with you.
Youre so right Dawn. I have considered re-homing the girls due to lockdowns (it's just not ideal to keep chickens anymore sadly) but they are the girls ya know! And they are so so old. I won't have them forever. The avian flu is the reason I've not expanded the flock tbh.
Went both sides of Exmouth just a small shower at night.
I think expanding the chook house a great idea especially given the risk of bird flu limitations.
Could you use the greenhouse for seedlings and actually grow in the poly tunnel? Get rid of the shed open up that area. I love watching all you get up too always moving changing. Thank you for sharing with this couch watcher. I’d get rid of one plant one new but keep one old until new is up and producing.
Those are great suggestions! We are desperate for rain I know. I suppose i should use it more for seedlings.. I'm planting all over winter so maybe I'll hold onto it until next year as.. I may need the space. You're right!!
Rain? Rain? Where? We’ve had no rain (except 1hour last week) for about 6 was in Pencoed😢
That's exactly what I've had. Nothing before and nothing since . Sadly 😥
Can’t beat the rain watering the garden. Does such a better job. Definitely needs a seating area on the plot. Will make such a difference. Regards the greenhouse I would move it if it’s not being used and then you can use the area for something else. Plus it will probably get used more next to the polytunnel. Nice update Danny from your veteran. 😂
You're probably right Emma! I'll think about the greenhouse future these upcoming months. Danny 🌱
Hi Danny,
What are those large clips called that you used when you put the fleece over the bed at the end of the video please?
I think you should keep the greenhouse too - you can grow plenty of seedlings and overwinter keep any potted tender plants you have.
I’m looking forward to seeing the grapevine and enjoyed the video, many thanks 🙏🌺
Hey Lisa! That wasn't fleece however I do use for fleece too in autumn and winter, that's veggie mesh to stop the butterflies, fleabeetle, slugs & leaf miner! The clips are called " 6 inch - Plastic Spring Clips Heavy Duty Clamps Grip Market Stall". I've got about 60 now and are perfect for the nets! You can get on that famous auction site that begins with E 🤪 I'm going to think long and hard about the greenhouse 😄 Thanks Lisa! Hope this helps. Danny 🌱

@lisas7097 you won't believe how valuable they are around the garden. I've just ordered more haha! As I know I've got thr right amount for my beds now ( I use 6 usually per bed) each corner and middles. Keeps them on in winter.. but I will need some for the other plot. Used to be much cheaper but like everything they've tanked the price up.
Hey! Have you got space for the greenhouse at home? I got one last year with the poly on the plot, its amazing having it at home! can start things off there before they go down to the allotment, even if I've got a quick 5 mins its easy as its half a dozen steps from my door! 100% on the solar set up, this is something I've wanted to do for some time 🙂
That's not a bad shout! I don't have the space for that size but I could shorten it.. thats added to the possibilities!
I've subscribed I'm worried that you will regret getting rid of your greenhouse and I need to know now what your decision is 😅
😂😂 I dont have a decision as of yet lol
@@TheGrowUpChannel I think a vote is in order 😂
😂😂 I think I'll always make the decision I want haha 😂😂
why not use the greenhouse an extra indoor area for chickens during chicken lockdown. X
Ooh janet!!! Clever idea!!!!
Hello from Bristol England, not far from you really. What on earth can I do for the later months in the year on my little veg plot? I don’t really like winter veg much, but I don’t want to look at an empty veg area! Thanks x
Hello! Very close to me! Just over the bridge! Haha Claire I did chuckle at this.. what can I plant in winter but I don't like winter veg 😂😂 what winter veg do you like?
Hi Danny, as you know i don't have a plot due to my health and as i'm a home gardener i'm in the middle of building a greenhouse in the back garden (i just wish the nuts and bolts weren't so small), as there won't be any power it would be good to get some lighting in the greenhouse via the solar panels so i would be interested in how you would set this up.
As for a third plot you said two would be too much and now you have two, what if a plot came along next to either the fig and olive plot or the grapevine plot, would you get rid of one just as to have two next to each other?

Oh good luck with that Barry! I've never met anyone say they enjoyed building a greenhouse! I've been asked this a lot lately by friends...and the honest truth is... yes I would. I don't see land as sentimental. Its not the ground to me... its everything on top. I could make magic somewhere else if I needed and together would make it much better. 😊🌱 Great question!!!
0:18 Danny is this a Banana? In the round planter 😊
It sure is..I have a few in my back garden haha
I want one!!!! I'm defo getting one now I've seen yours 😀😀
@@GemInTheGarden maybe Danny can send you one 😊😊

@@TheGrowUpChannel I'm still waiting for my retention fee for June 🤣😂🤣
Only jossing around buddy - you know I love what you do! It's like a rerun of Kenny Everett's Reg Prescott. Oops, there I go again🤕
@DigwellGreenfingers 😂😂😂😂
Get rid of the greenhouse if you are not using. Or move to the fig and olive.
I'll have a good think over autumn.. we shall see..
We not allowed ponds or chickens
Oh that's a shame. I understand in some cases why people can't. It's still a shame though
Can you move the greenhouse to the fig ?
I've considered that too. It would be handy! Back to the drawing board I think haha
What job do you do at the hospital Danny? Do you have a partner or family? Sorry if I am being too personal😩🙋🏻
