With how tame Pearl can be, i think people tend to forget that shes not not just a criminal but an illigal alien, a war veteran, and an extremely skilled fighter. I really like how this episode showed both sides of her

The hype around the mystery girl looking like Rose is REAL! She’s so cool and I love how Pearl is progressing with her own character. What a great pair of eps.
Last One Out of Beach City is one of the absolute best stand alone episodes. Its just wonderful character development and fun from top to bottom. This show can do so much in 11 minutes!
I have a soft spot for Future Boy Zoltron because even if they didn't talk about it, Mr Smiley and Mr Frowney were originally in a relationship (at least in concepts), with the notes saying "they were clearly lovers" and the entire episode being a sort of metaphor for relationships in that way, how they can't always be the same but they can still heal and work. And "our act" was just them talking around their actual romantic relationship.
I love the ending of Last One Out Of Beach City. The freeze frame on "Pearl as Repressed Nerd" had me in tears the first time.

I'm grateful for this show introducing me to Mike Krol, I also love that the band playing in this episode was modeled after Mike Krol and his band and that is his music in the episode. I guess you could say that Rebecca Sugar made Mike Krol canon in Steven Universe lol
I love when Cartoon Network decide to hire indie band to do their music. Not only it way cheap that use too...but it give more chance to give those band more fans who into different kind of music. I mean, have you seen Craig of the Creek?

A lot of people complain about the filler episodes but I love them. We get to learn more about the people of beach city and we even get some character development. I think it’s a nice balance

@@msbte49 There is no filler in Steven Universe. The show isn't about Steven learning about aliens, it's about Steven learning about feelings and relationships, and every single episode contributes to that in one way or another.
@@msbte49except filler episodes are important for world building and character development. The first one I admit i didn't enjoy because Mr. Frowny never comes back. Although it does help establish how future vision works.
The second one however is important for pearls character development, we even see how much better she connects with people in the later series. Not to mention its part of her arc of getting over rose.

People seriously have the nerve to call these filler episodes just because they're not still fighting off homeworld gems left and right. This show is first and foremost a story about growth and character development, the gem war is honestly just a thing that happens to be going on at the same time. If you think that's boring then you can have that opinion, but just say the show isn't for you and move on rather than coming onto every new episode just to shit on them.

i wouldn’t call them pointless or filler. they can still be fun. + they can serve for some neat worldbuildng or flesh out the human side of things. and the Pearl episode really does show some growth on her side
Actually I woudln't say these are 'pointless" ep, there was growth in steven and character development for other non-main characters. Its what's great in steven universe most characters get growth and character development creating a warmth feeling and a sort of closeness to other characters that make up for the end. Making Steven universe a lowkey kinda highkey emotional driven series.
Not every episode needs to be chock full of lore.
