      Same. The new Tacoma does not hold up to the Toyota name. Which really nothing they make anymore does. They ruined the tundra. I would get a Ranger with the bulletproof 2.7. That’d be a little beast.

    I test drove a Ranger XLT FX4 and a Colorado Z71 back to back this past weekend and came away liking the Colorado more because of the interior and the screen layout. Test drove the Ranger first as it was my pre-drive favorite due to the back seat space (I’m 6-3). But (perhaps also because I’m tall) not having to look down at the vertical screen seemed so much more natural to me in the Colorado. Never having owned a vehicle with screens, I was surprised that I felt that strongly about the layout. Apologies to my taller passengers, but driver preferences come first 😂.

    • @RockCh4lk
      @RockCh4lk Před 4 měsíci +4

      I was just in the mid-size truck market and the screen was not even a consideration, lol. I've been driving my Frointer since November and I only use the screen for the backup camera and to tell me the time. I guess you can say I'm not a tech guy.

    • @MarkBco
      @MarkBco Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@RockCh4lk Funnily enough, looking at a Pro 4X ruined me and got me on to the 360 cameras. Originally, I wasn’t even considering it, but the Pro 4X I drove had one and I thought it was pretty neat. You can see on the Ford in Ben’s vid, the 360 view is just a sliver at the bottom of the screen. No bueno.

  • @jhustler1992
    @jhustler1992 Před 18 dny

    As for looks, the Colorado wins. However, there have been a lot of safety concerns with the Colorado and Canyon models. The scariest one being the steering wheel being very difficult to lock into place, or not locking into place when adjusting it. The Ranger appears to have a lot less issues from what I have read. Good review.

    I work for a Chevrolet dealer and the main problem i see coming from the new Colorados that have the high output tuning is that its blowing the turbos at around 1000 miles, im not sure if Chevy has fixed that issue yet

      this is a first. I have not heard of any turbo problem at low milage even on Colorado / gmc forums. 2.7 has been in the Silverado for yrs without blown turbos reported. fake news?

    • @spencerhalvorsen2398
      @spencerhalvorsen2398 Před 2 měsíci

      We rarely ever have a turbo issue with Silverados, it was just a handful of 2023 Colorados when they first put the engine in them. It could've just been a tuning error or something like that but we haven't seen the issue pop up again lately

  • @Mhosborn

    I've been looking at both the Ranger and Colorado, and am a bit hesitant on both. Two of my brothers had the 2019 Ford Ranger with the 10 speed transmission, and the transmission went wonky for each of them. My son in law has the 2023 Colorado, and has had issues with the blind spot indicator blinking at random times with no vehicle beside him. His infotainment system is pretty glitchy as well. I've read the 2024 Colorados have intermittent headlight blinking issues...so I'm really not sure which I'll end up with. (Not interested in either the Tacoma or Frontier).

  • @reignfire85
    @reignfire85 Před 4 měsíci +6

    I know you said the new Colorado engine isn't entirely proven yet, but I'd honestly prefer the Colorado over the Ranger for both overall reliability, the screen not being downward and huge, and the pricing in my area is a bit different (Ford dealership has worse prices than the Chevy lot). Aesthetically I will admit personal taste here, but the look of the Colorado (both inside and out) appeals to me more. If I can find a good used Colorado or get a great deal on a new one, I'll take that over Ford any day.

  • @elche1976
    @elche1976 Před 4 měsíci +3

    Hold up. When comparing back seat space... for the Ford you had the driver and passenger seats flush and in line with he center console. For the Colorado, you can tell the driver seat was further back than the passenger and was not flush with the center console. Sure to feel a little more spacious with that 2-3" inches if you do it the same.

    • @cameryncorliss4900
      @cameryncorliss4900 Před 4 měsíci +3

      Center consoles are different lengths..... its set up for his driving seat position... what crack are you smoking where you base the rear seat room off the seats sitting flush with the center console and not the driver seat driving position??

    • @MarkBco
      @MarkBco Před 4 měsíci

      Ranger definitely has a lot more rear seat space. czcams.com/video/AIKeeBDjETE/video.htmlsi=9ebMFeDfHn7IxXgK

    • @elche1976
      @elche1976 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @cameryncorliss4900 you can see the drivers seat is pushed further back when compared to the other seat, the console, but also the outside door position.
      Also because I've sat in it and I know it was pushed back further based on where it's aligned with those 3 items. In other videos, you can see differences as well.
      Sorry such details fluster and annoy you to the point of making excuses.

    • @elche1976
      @elche1976 Před 4 měsíci

      @cameryncorliss4900 especially since the official back leg room lists for both is 34.6" for the Ranger and 34.7" for the Colorado.
      Yeah, I'm the one that's tripping when Ford themselves admit they have less space. It's obvious that the seats weren't positioned the same.

      @MarkBco Před 4 měsíci

      Watch the TFLtalk video from a month ago where they compare all of the midsize truck interiors. It’s pretty clear which one actually has more back seat space.

    Yeah I really like them both but I’d have to go with Colorado. It’s sharper lines and just interior and exterior aesthetics is just excellent. When you see one in person even the cheap basic models look great. I’m a Toyota lover but those new 2024 Tacomas are for rich folks, doctors and lawyers and such.

    My last Ford was an 86 Ranger.
    Since then, I've had a Toyota with a rusted out frame and broken leaf springs and no intermittent wipers.
    And then the biggest POS 2016 Colorado with a motor that blew up at 102k and needs constant repairs.
    I think I might go back to Ford, I honestly don't think they could be worse at this point.
