  • 👋 Here is the all new 2024 Ford Ranger alongside the newish 2024 Nissan Frontier! Let's compare the new 2024 Ford Ranger to the 2024 Nissan Frontier back to back and see how the 'affordable' mid sized trucks compare! Looking at the Ranger and Frontier, you can actually buy these trucks nicely equipped for under $40,000. In todays market thats pretty affordable when nicer trucks like the 2024 Tacoma and 2024 Canyon can be $60,000 loaded up! The Ranger and Frontier both look pretty similar with a more basic exterior design and a very simple interior. Both are nice enough and look much better then previous generations. The back seats in the Frontier are very cramped with small seats and a straight up back. The Ranger is much more spacious back there and is certainly bigger and more comfortable. Both have similar looking dashboard, but the new Ranger has very nice screen for infotainment and instrument cluster. The Nissan looks a bit old for tech and is more basic. The 2024 Frontier only has a V6 option. Very simple engine and pretty reliable. The Ford Ranger has a turbo 4 cylinder and two V6 turbo engines available! A lot more power for the Ford offerings and it makes the Ranger more fun to drive with the extra power. But we'll have to see if they can be reliable for the long term. So overall I think the Ranger and Frontier are the more basic trucks in this class, but that means they can be bought for better pricing then other. You get a nice useful truck in both of these and realistically more modern tech and features in the Ranger.

    I’m going to buy a Nissan Frontier

    I have a 22 Frontier. I think people that are complaining about the Frontier looking old are forgetting the true purpose of a pickup (for work). Modern nowadays gets you a Tacoma with an interior from little tikes and a transfer case from dollar tree.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  Před 2 měsíci +1

      What do you know about the transfer case to make that assumption?

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yeah the Frontier keeps it simple. However the tacoma has a bigger bed, more ground clearance, better towing and bigger rear seats. So it is more capable for work

    I bought a 2024 Pro 4x with all the trimmings a month ago. I wanted a 24 Tacoma but was swayed to the Nissan for several reasons. Why I didn't go with the Taco. Price Point and simplicity. With discounts I got the Pro4X with everything available minus the sports bar, (I wanted a hard folding tonneau anyways), for $47k. An equally equipped Tacoma TRD Offroad or Sport would be north of $55k. I sat in and drove both trucks. The Nissan anti-gravity seat was much better comfort and fit for me. I guess on a drag strip the Taco would be faster but I like the drive and Excelleration of the Frontiers V6 I didn't buy the truck to race but that said it passes with ease. I don't remember ever having hydraulic steering and some complain it's harder than electronic, but I love it. Freeway driving is so precise and easy. Sound system Fender vs JBL. I've owned both (Taco and Tundra). The Fender 400+watt system is crazy good with Spotify. The tech may look dated but it all works great. Cameras from the top, front, rear work great. Backing into a parking spot is EASY. Last and most Important reliability. I questioned Nissan reliability vs Toyota. But after much research including talking to both the Toyota and Nissan mechanics, (The dealership here in Maine has Toyota, Honda and Nissan sales and service shops), they both told me the Frontier and Titan were very reliable and the powertrains were proven. With only a thousand miles on it I can't say anything about long term ownership but I do love this truck and don't regret my choice one bit.

      Yeah the old school V6 is hard to beat. We'll have to see how well the new Tacoma engine can handle. And continue seeing how Ford EB motors do. Frontier is nice and simple. Just a much smaller bed and back seats. And needs a lift kit for off roading. But its a fine truck overall. Hope you enjoy it!

    I don't know what you're talking about. N/A engines don't need to wait nearly as long as turbos do to get into the powerband. Turbos need to spool, compress, then push the air through. N/A don't. Power is readily available if the transmission allows it.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  Před 27 dny

      The turbo engine reaches peak power under 4k RPM. The V6 reaches peak power closer to redline. These turbos spool pretty quick and give you that low end torque vs waiting for the engine to rev all the way out. Driving around town the turbo feels much more peppy and light on its toes vs having to always floor the pedal in the V6 to get the power. Feels like you are putting less stress on the turbo engine around town since it's never going above 4k rpm

      @@ruffriding2k2 looking at MotorTrend. The Frontier does 0-60 in over 8 seconds. Ford Ranger does closer to 6 seconds. Significantly more power out of the turbo engine. Translates to a quicker driving vehicle.

    • @ruffriding2k2
      @ruffriding2k2 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @BrosFOURRSpeed Don't just go with Motor trend, I looked at various sources and Nissan is 7.5 and Ranger 2.3 is at 7sec. The V6 is the one that does 6sec.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed

      Regardless the 4 cylinder turbo has more power and is much quicker in acceleration. Can't argue with the HP and TQ numbers on these

    Ranger has no option for a longer bed... 5 foot bed only... makes it a no-go. Can still get a 6' bed option on some of the Frontier trims.
    You think the turbos are fast but the naturally aspirated has lag... uhhh.. yeah ok 🙄

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  Před měsícem

      Yeah the longer bed is cool. The V6 takes longer to respond and doesn't have the same low end torque. Turbo cars feel much faster and more responsive

    • @AyaWetts
      @AyaWetts Před měsícem +1

      @@BrosFOURRSpeed have no clue what you are talking about... doesn't make sense or what I felt driving them. Guess you never heard of turbo lag. Everyone complains about turbos NOT being more responsive because of turbo lag, where the naturally aspirated is instantly there.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  Před měsícem

      @@AyaWetts give each truck half throttle when accelerating. The turbo hits pretty quickly and will get up to speed better under normal driving. A 0-60 test is pedal to the floor redlining each gear. Under normal driving you hardly are going pedal to the floor and letting the engine redline. That’s where you get the most power out of the V6. At high RPM. The turbo engine has more torque and more power available at the low and mid RPM range. Because of that it feels more peppy around town. Since most people are driving under 4k rpm under normal driving

    Rear locker on a 2wd! nice! Two things that annoy me with the Ranger- needs a black headliner and a 60/40 rear seat split. Really like the Nissan but the truck is already looking slightly dated and it sits wayyy to low for a truck marketed as "off road".
