Every single American reactor ever: "We were told to put a thin layer on." then proceeds to use enough to salt an elephant.
👍🤣
I love watching people with no frame of reference trying to spread Marmite like it's Nutella
A little goes a long way with marmite :)
It’s certainly value for money
Watching them take that first bite 😂 they had about a weeks worth on just one slice 🤣
You need to spread your marmite "on and off", as my grandmother used to say
Yeah, I was looking forward to their first bite seeing how much was on.
Hark, what's that noise? 🤔 It's the sound of 70,000 Brits going "Nooooo - way too much!!" when they saw you spreading it on the toast 😬🤣🤣. Brilliant reaction Spencer 🤣🤣👍👍
They've piled on the marmite, not spread. This is going to be carnage 😆 🤣 😂
They litterelly layered it on like jam😂😂😂
I'm nervous for them, I've just pressed play.......this feels ominous......🤣
My first thought when I saw the thumbnail was “OMG, this is gonna get ugly!” Marmite is a product where you use as little s you can manage to spread across the toast :)
I kinda like it like that, but with MUCH more butter, but yeah, for an amateur that's a lot of marmite 😂🤣😂
Just a thin layer 🤣🤣🤣
I laughed when you put all that marmite on bread!
No Brit EVER eats it like that! 🤣
Nearly wet myself laughing when you took that first bite 😂😂😂
Congrats on the 70k guys 💕 🇬🇧
To be fair, that's how I eat it - spread like jam - but I'm aware that I'm very much in the minority. Also worth menitioning, I think, that it works much better on toast - the texture really helps.
No kiwi ever eats it like that lol when Spencer was applying liberal to the toast I was this is gonna be great to watch and that run needed the chariots of fire music and done in slo mo so we could have time to laugh at ya
I eat it like that, yummy, love it or hate it as they say.
Love Marmite and spread it as thick as possible. A jar lasts about 5 slices
I like it fairly thick
A special mention to Daniel for getting it, understanding that a little is all that's needed, I'll predict that within 6 months he will wake up one morning and think, hmm Marmite on toast, but only a tiny bit is needed, and he will enjoy it, hat off to you both.
I'll second that.
It’s true, you either love it or you hate it
Marmite, less is more.
I can't believe how much you put on that first piece 😅 it was the equivalent to drinking a pint of vodka instead of a shot!
"You've got to spread it thinly, at least that's what I've been told" famous last words. F in hilarious.
I gagged just looking at that layer of marmite... and I love the stuff 😂😂
Haha, I'm a huge fan of marmite but that was one hell of a thick spreading 😂
When I was a kid the jar used to say "spread thinly", mostly because the saltiness made your lips blister. Marmite is something of an acquired taste, much like Guinness. People decide early on that you either love it or you hate it, and they stick with that. Me, I love both. I use Marmite in cooking, it also works with peanut butter or cream cheese on toast or bagels. But if you've decided you don't like it, you'll probably stay that way. All the more for the rest of us.
Marmite in gravy...never looked back.
It’s nice in stews and a wee bit in proper Stovies.
Yup.. I'm British and I tasted it as a kid and never will again.. Same goes for Bovril!!!
@@bobbySumpton I quite like Bovril, dip cream crackers in and it's delicious. Marmite, to me, is almost indescribably awful, yuk.
Fawlty Towers “Don’t mention the war” will never stop making me cry laughing. It is pure genius
Well I suppose such a generous amount of Marmite would make it more of a punishment 😅.
You want half that and maybe some cheddar cheese to, its all about balancing out the strong flavour
i was thinking what they put on the first piece of toast would have done all 4 pieces . good punishment amount tho lol .
Agreed slice of cheese on marmite on toast is divine and always put marmite if I make grilled cheese on toast
@@anthonyjones572 Marmite, cheese, and then baked beans on top :)
Marmite is great on a grilled cheese sandwich (start out with just a tiny bit). Also great on jacket potato (baked potato): lots of butter and just enough marmite to slightly colour butter. Marmite can be added to stews and gravy (again don't overdo it). It lasts forever so don't have to worry about using it up quickly. Enjoy at your leaisure!
Marmite is really nice in a stew, gives it a good kick.
@@darkduane1 Agree!
Marmite is a disgrace. It’s disgusting
@@123reletive123 You either love it or hate it!
That 1st marmite reaction 😂🤣 you guys totally epitomised the 2 sides of marmite! You either love it or hate it & for the record I am team Daniel! I love marmite but NO WAY would I spread it on that thick, try it on crumpets with loads of butter
That jar of delicious Marmite is a year's supply. Too thick. 😂
I love how Spencer’s is sweating and gipping and the faces with tiny little bites and Daniel is just taking huge bites and wolfing it down and no faces or anything! I think you secretly like it Daniel!! Xx
Not too little not too much, served on hot buttery toast with a cuppa builders tea, milk with 2 sugars. Don't wait more than 2 mins to eat it or the toast gets cold 😍
I love how Daniel just gets on with it and spencer is having such a hard time , bless him ❤
You're officially Brits now boy's!!! British humour holds back as much as Marmite lol. You're right Dan, butter and cheese is the way to go. Nice mature cheddar and start very sparingly....it's an acquired taste. The French have wine, we have "my mate Marmite"
That's why we call things that devide opinion a Marmite thing. Some love it, some hate it. Daniel, kudos! 🤣😂 Thanks for uploading, guys. 🇺🇸🇬🇧👍
I have literally just driven past the marmite factory I work in burton upon trent … I love it spread on thick 😂
Personally I love marmite, but not even I would have piled it on that thick!!😂😂😂
Basically you scrape it on and scrape it off again lol. It's like wasabi! Quite right about it being good with cheese though 👍My brother spreads it as thickly as that but he's barely human so we have to make allowances for him
Love the vids boys. Marmite is used sparingly with a sheeyit-load of butter.
TRY EATING SPOONS OF COLMAN’S ENGLISH MUSTARD!
Yes, but made from Colman’s mustard powder, mixed with equal parts milk, vinegar and water! Or, for more exotic mix, substitute the vinegar with strong horseradish.
70k subs, after a short intake of bresth, all let out a resounding 'Nooooooo! That's waaaaay too much!' lol - That toast looked like it was covered in chocolate spread. Barf-cam rules!!! :D
Well worth the wait, one thing I gotta say is I told you so Spencer. Little is more haha 😄 your first bite was comedy gold. 🤣
Spot on. Marmite on toast with egg on top, preferably poached, is a joy.
Honestly, you could easily do 2 slices of toast, maybe even 3 with the amount he put on that first slice.
Never has the statement "Less is More" been so relevant... Especially when applying Marmite for the very first time. Imagine adding a whole garlic BULB to a recipe that say's one CLOVE of garlic... DUH!
It's way better the more you put on it. The thing people consistently don't understand is you keep trying it until you adapt, then you suddenly can love it. It's the people that just because something is different, just don't stick with it.
Or spreading English mustard on toast that thick.
@@lesgrant2107 Yes, that would put you off, too. Americans only know the 'mild' hot dog (French's type) mustard. I always laugh when they spread on English mustard thinking it's the same!
Congrats on the 70k lads. Next time with the Marmite, spread it a lot thinner. 😂😂😂 You either love it or you hate it. ❤️
“This is back molar food”
“They’ve done a lot with a little”
“Burping it up for The rest of the day”
Marmite should have gone to you guys for their marketing slogans!
It's Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin. They hate it so much it becomes a huge success as people buy it for their in-laws.
Love it, as he's saying this and talking about the taste, meanwhile his bestie is just trying to keep it down and forget 🤣
I cried of laughter at 7:30 where Daniel is just speaking his thoughts and not hating it whilst Spencer is almost spewing his ring up in the backroom "Ughhh" "Goood" "Oh My God"
I used to work in Burton on Trent and had to drive past the Marmite factory. To paraphrase, I love the smell of Marmite in the morning, it smells of comfort. Though I realise that it’s an acquired taste, it can grow on you. An enjoyable episode.
As a non-Marmite fan from Burton on Trent, I preferred walking past the brewery...😆
@@KissMyFatAxe I don’t recall a problem with either!😄
I worked in ashby-de-la-zouch..we made the marmite mini cheddars at mcvities..got used to them eventually but the guys put enough marmite on to kill an army ..just a slither guys!!
but do you like Napalm on toast?
😂 that was hilarious! The marmite sweats at the end! Well done. Smaller amounts guys! Try roasting potatoes in marmite too! Heaven!!
I love marmite but I wouldn't go near those slices, WAAAAY too much lmao! And you're right it's best thinly spread with butter, with melted cheddar cheese on top. Delicious.
I was screaming at the screen watching you spread it. Way too much Marmite! The fact that it's expensive and comes in a small jar, is a hint to go easy. Having said that, sliced tomatoes and grilled cheese on top - lovely jubbly.
I’m slightly terrified by the amount of marmite on the toast in this thumbnail… can’t wait to see this!
You guys are now offically british. Had me in stitches. Bless you both.
Bloody hell! The sheer amount of marmite that went on that bread, I could cry. Put a LITTLE bit on, spread it THIN, and then scrape off the excess to start the next slice of bread. Ho-ly-cow...
My Lord! Do you want some bread to go with that marmite? You could lay bricks with the amount of marmite you’re putting on. You said “spread thinly” and then lathered it on like its peanut butter and jelly or Nutella. Can’t wait for the reactions now😂😂😂
I grew up poor, very poor and Marmite was a rare treat, so of course I wanted more but If I got caught using more I was in trouble so I started to lick the knife clean after spreading it thinly. Now I am one of the rare people who actually enjoys 'Pure Marmite' from the jar on a spoon. So yes I still love Marmite on buttered toast or on a ham and Marmite sandwich (far better than on cheese) but it is only to keep my Marmite addiction under control.
"how do you eat this?"
Not the way you did 😂😂😂😂😂
Best clip was Daniel sitting alone chewing and giving his opinion whilst in the background was the noise of heaving and omg! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's impossible to not laugh at the legendary Rik Mayall!! one of the funniest men of all time 🤣
Ever since I was a kid the moment the marmite jar is opened my mouth starts to water, I was known as a kid to sneak into the kitchen cupboard and simply dip my finger in the jar, love marmite, try it on toasted crumpets it’s a game changer.
this dude a mad man he gos back for seconds bit lol he build different 😂
"What have we got ourselves into?"
A right mess that's what. It says on the jar to spread thinly. This isn't jam or peanut butter. This is a very salty spread.
I feel honoured to be a subscriber of your excellent channel: so many congrats at arriving at 70K...! astounding. So deserved!!
Can't say I've ever had Marmite, but I enjoy strong flavours in general, so I imagine I'd be a part of the Marmite lovers.
Also, couldn't help but notice the "dink it and sink it" Spencer gagging, whilst Daniel's hardly fazed haha. Rhett & Link all the way ;D even with the guitars and miniature surfboard in the background.
Great video guys, cheered me up to no end.
You need to try marmite.
Love how spencer was despartly trying not laugh so as not eat anymore and daniel is like its not bad until a slice and half in lol
"I may have put too much on there" Understatement of the year! :-)
Jesus! How much marmite did you put on? lol 😂
I know you’re American and you like to over do the portion sizes over there but it looks like you put enough marmite on one slice that would probably normally be used on about 50 slices of bread, lol
Even people who love marmite would have that reaction with the amount you put on! :) EDIT _ That one jar is a years supply!
At least. I've got at least 3 jars floating around my kitchen, and I've absolutely no idea how long I've had them. As far as I can tell it lasts forever.
Thst was hilarious!!🤣🤣🤣🤣I was looking at you guys spreading the Marmite on thick and thinking this is not going to end well🤣🤣🤣
You two are the physical manifestation of the two sides of the marmite fence - one of you taking huge bites and the other puking. Hilarious! And yes, cheese!!!
Hahahahaha holy guacamole! That marmite is thick as a carpet, omg 😳 never had it that thick! Great video guys!
I was thinking that marmite was the wrong colour until I remembered that New Zealand marmite is completely different from British marmite... both are acquired tastes - and should be spread very thinly! The way you were eating it was like drinking neat Worcestershire sauce! The other Python in that first sketch with John Cleese was Eric Idle.
I'm Belgian and I like Marmite.
But the way I like it is with Marmite spread on toast thinly and then covered up with Philadelphia herb cheese.
The mix of the two is a delight for breakfast.
Especially if you can then go brush your teeth to get rid of the lingering Marmite taste.
Daniel is right about very (barely)thinly spreading it and in moderation. Also, it's good on toast then add cheese and put it under the grill until the cheese melts.
They say you love it or hate it, I don't hate it I just don't have enough of it to buy a jar.
Well done chaps. I like Marmite, but that was A LOT of marmite.
WARNING- a thin smear is sufficient- it's not strawberry jam!
Hilarious! You spread it THIN and it’s delicious. You’re spot on Daniel.
English is brutal man love it 🇬🇧 long live the old days
Just had marmite on toast for my breakfast! Love it. However, the marmite in the thumbnail is spread far too thickly! Spread thinly (and I mean very thinly) it's delicious especially with a cup of tea.
@@c_n_b So it'll end in tears 🤣. When we would horse around when we were kids (pranking and laughing at each other) my dad would say that our laughter would turn to crying if we weren't careful (he was right we'd always end up pushing things too far).
Down to personal taste, looks fine to me
@@stevehawthorn8733 I agree, but usually newbies (not weaned on the stuff like us Brits) need to be gradually eased into the experience.
@@anta3612 sink or swim :0)
@@stevehawthorn8733 It looks like Spencer sank a bit but then made it up again for air. Daniel on the other hand 👏👏👏.
You guys already dink it and sink it, it looks like it's time for barf buckets too 😂
Edit - keeping with the theme lol - Daniel is a beast!
Respect to Spencer too for taking more bites after the shock of the first one 💪🏻
2nd edit - forgot to congratulate you guys on your 70k milestone! Well deserved 😁
There's a great Marmite divide in my family 😂 My mom, 1 sister, 1 brother and myself adore it, while my dad and other brother and sister can't stand it. I used to make my mom breakfast in bed of a cup of coffee and Marmite on toast every mother's day from age 6 (with help) and I always spread it like jam. My mom struggled to eat half a slice and said she couldn't eat the rest as she doesn't usually eat first thing in the morning. Made it the same way for myself for the first time as a teenager and dry heaved 😂 Less is definitely more, although I like it thicker now lol. Mom said she never told me the truth until I was a teenager because she loved that I made her favourite breakfast 🥰
Well done boys on the 70k subscriber mark! Cudos!
Don't spread the marmite to thick when eating normal but spread it as thick as you can for a challenge
Got to agree with the comments below, you've got to spread it thin. Also do you have crumpets in the states? Nothing like marmite and butter on crumpets
Congrats on the 70k subscribers. Well deserved lads
"This is a back molar kind of food" has gotta be on their next advertising campaign.....nice one D
It literally hurts my eyes when I watch Americans use Marmite like this. 😢😢. You really don’t know what you’re missing when you get it right a tiny bit added to French onion soup, A tiny bit added to gravy or anything savoury. On a hot buttered crumpet. Yum.
Too much is a bit overpowering, thin layer is fine.
I'd say there was a little too much there for first time Marmite tryers, a little goes a long way.
But I like Marmite so I'd laugh just to eat it ☺️ it's very good for you
🤣🤣🤣 Spencer your face sums up exactly how I feel about Marmite! Happy 70k guys!
You are right about the cheese, delicious. I love marmite and tend to spread it thickly. I have it every day. Keep up the good work and congratulations on the 70k subs.
Going by the thumbnail it looks like it's spread a bit thickly, At least for my tastes.. Going to be interesting to see what you think of it... 😄
Dont eat it,spread on doorstep to keep vampires away..
It's foul and odious.
Every time people spread it like it's nutella and then wonder how people can eat it. I've eaten it my whole life and still wouldn't eat it like that.
CZcams is full of people being disgusted by it when they spread it this thick, I would be and I'm a fan.
Yep, People just paste it on, Then they don't like it lol.. I like a bit of Marmite, But i don't cover the whole slice, Just a light dab here and there is enough for me 😂👍
I can't watch this... Americans just don't have a clue how to prep marmite 😭
You’ve proved that you clearly need more Blackadder content on the channel. I’d highly recommend “Edmund hires a ship” from Blackadder II
And that was the Ad for Marmite at one point here in the UK, the catchphrase was "Marmite, YOU either LOVE it or HATE it"
I love Marmite but you've spread that so thick that it'll be disgusting.
You should scrape it on with care, much like you would if you were adding salt to food.
The best way to eat Marmite is to put a small amount on a knife. Then throw the jar in the bin, wash the Marmite off the knife and have something nice instead!!!!
How dare you!!! Marmitism
Marmite is basically what's left after brewing ale in giant vats, its scooped up from the bottom when cooled down
Spread the marmite sparingly with lots of butter and it's lovely! You don't spread it like jam! Well done guys. You definitely held up your end! Xx
Spreading marmite thinly is something we learn as small children. It's always funny watching Americans do it! Less is more lads.
Oh my god, that's not spreading it thin. You should be able to see the butter, through the marmite, after spreading it. I nearly fell off my chair when I saw how you put it on your toast. A definite way to put off anyone eating marmite for the first time. 😁
Daniel's sandwich recipe. I'm going to try it. Yum.
I'm f*cking dying.
Love it or Hate it is its advert. Personally I would be like Spencer, heaving my guts up 😆 🤣
The premise of the Marmite ads was you either love it or hate it; can't stand the stuff myself. You both did well, and on the plus side it is good for you 😊 Congrats on the 70k!!
I think even 99.9% of Marmite lovers would run a hundred miles at the sight of those slices 🤣 , I like Marmite, But i only ever have a thin dab here and there from the tip of a knife on the toast, Wondering if they will ever be the same again after that 🔥💥 😂🤞
My old English highschool teacher always used to say "Ma mite, but Pa wont." Such powerful words.
I nearly died with the running to the toilet. You either love it or you hate it. My sister would have that amount of Marmite on her toast. I have enjoyed Marmite once, spread thinly ... with lashings of butter.
The boy on. the right knows what's good with Marmite. I have poached egg with marmite, butter and crumpet almost daily, if I have sharp cheese it's amazing! You know where it's at boy!!
It was being given a slice of toast with marmite like that on it at age 5 that out me off marmite for life
Next time try putting a lump of butter on the plate, a drop of marmite in it, and mix it before spreading
The look on your faces was brilliant! This is a perfect example of what Marmite is all about. Love it or Hate it and no middle ground! I'm with Spencer on this one! To spread the vile stuff you get it as thin as physically possible on dry toast then scrape it back off again. Looks like the jar is going home with Daniel!
You my man are right on it,yes it was spread far to thick and yes with cheese and the British saying is you love it or hate it I love it
As soon as I saw how much marmite on the toast I knew I was in for a good giggle! Brilliant 😂😂😂😂😂
I’m so glad you’ve finally done marmite. Been following since the beginning and waiting for this moment 😂😂
Personally I love it. Well done guys
Good man Dan! Spencer, you are officially a big girl's blouse. 😁👍👍
Everybody's different, looks fine to me and as I have it
That marmite got height!!!!
I couldn't eat that, thin and melted into the butter, lol.
