    One small problem, Its very crowded during lunch time, and if u go after lunch hours like around 3 pm, more than half the stalls will be closed. Weekends most stalls not opening either, so its just convenient for people working near there.

    This is a Hawker Centre that all Singaporeans should be proud of. Hopefully, government will endeavour to learn from Capital Land.

      CapitaLand sacrificed 4 stories of prime office space for the mid level gardens and the roof top garden for the public to enjoy. Their Hawker Centre sells affordable meals. Yes, hopefully our government and other building owners will learn from them.

    Is it a community services project by Capital Land? Hopefully, it's the new standards for future Hawker Centres. It's on levels 2 and 3. Food prices are value for money. It's cheaper than most coffee shops. One set of chicken rice is $3.50. Quarter chicken with rice is $7.20. Coffee O is $1.10. High ceiling with huge fans are airy and cooling.

    Hi. May I know the audio mic device that you used for recording the binaural audio?

    • @SingaporeCityWalks
      @SingaporeCityWalks  Před 2 lety

      I use the Soundman OKM Classic binaural mics which I wear in my ears. The audio is recorded by Zoom H1N audio recorder. The recording is manually sync'ed to the video during editing. The battery (476A) is uncommon and very difficult to find and buy. I suggest that you look for Roland or Sennheiser binaural mics.

    Nice video! May I ask why is the food stall sign board that bright that u cannot see the words? Is it camera lens flooded with too much light?

    • @SingaporeCityWalks
      @SingaporeCityWalks  Před 2 lety

      I filmed with the DJI Pocket 2 where there's no manual iris/aperture control. The signboards are bright till I get near to them. This is because the signboards are brighter than the surrounding areas. Filming with DSLR cameras may solve this problem as they have manual aperture control.

    What a beautiful hawker centre. I didn't know that 'peranakan cuisine' is a kind of fusion asiatic food style. Now, are there in Singapore any hawker centres that are clean and offer great food for affordable prices and are visited only by the locals? A hidden gem, so to say?

    • @SingaporeCityWalks
      @SingaporeCityWalks  Před rokem +1

      There are many good Hawker Centres that locals go to. Most of these are old and not as 'clean' as this Market Street Hawker Centre. The good old hawker stalls made their name through word of mouth. I list them below:
      Popular with locals and tourists
      Lau Pa Sat
      Maxwell
      Newton
      Popular with locals
      Old Airport Road
      Amoy Street
      Chinatown
      Tiong Bahru
      Bendemeer
      ABC Brickworks
      Whampoa (recently refurbished)
      Ghim Moh
      Geylang Serai (Malay food)
      Tekka (Indian and Chinese food)
      Peranakan food is a fusion of Malay and Chinese food.

    • @SingaporeCityWalks
      @SingaporeCityWalks  Před 2 lety +2

      This was the Golden Shoe carpark with the cheapest parking rate in the CBD. The hawker centre there was cheap and good. The hawkers shifted out to Cross Street for 4 years while they build this skyscraper. Now they shift back to this new spanking location. They are still very reasonably priced.
      The crowd is back. Join the queue. Haha. The long queues are the good ones 😀

    I remember when that site was the Golden Shoe. When I worked at UOBAM we would cross the street and have lunch at GS. There were some really good hawker food there; apparently many of the stalls were invited back to the new Market Street Hawker Center. Unfortunatey, this new office tower on the site is REALLY UGLY. Blame Capital Commercial Trust: they engaged the architect.

    • @SingaporeCityWalks
      @SingaporeCityWalks  Před 2 lety

      I have eaten several times at the Golden Shoe hawker centre. I think the hawkers are all back and the food prices are very reasonable. When I saw the building for the 1st time, I thought it was ugly too. Thought the Incredible Hulk had just passed through it. Now I think it's ugly but creative, as all the curved bars are at the garden levels.
