- Lots of rain and heavy winds caused some challenges that needed urgent attention. Damaged roads, fallen trees and no work on the 1939 Hudson during the past week...But we do get to play with my ratty 4 x 4 off road recovery rig!

God's country is beautiful Div, so green and lush there we take so much for granted great video quality.
Thanks. Yes, blessed to live here.
I would rethink making your rat rod so that it "slams". It would maybe be wiser to make it so that it "jacks UP"!! Loved the video-- I can't go to other places so I always enjoy when people take drives and record the surroundings. Never thought of any part of Africa as being so lush and beautiful as these pictures show. The news always shows the starving mothers with one child in a cloth around her neck, one holding the right hand, one holding the left hand and two or so running around her while she is walking through a barren area with a jug of water on her head. Oh did I forget, she also has one in the hopper!
Africa/South Africa is very diverse. Deserts, rain forests and everything in between. The news is always only shows half truths!
Thanks for Sharing Your World with Us... Div.
Sorry about the bad weather. It's been over 38 Celsius here. I did enjoy being able to see the recovery rig and some of the beautiful landscape
I really wouldnt mind if you send me some of that heat!😂
Aai , it just keeps raining, I mean pouring, luckily you have some awesome toys to enjoy playing around with!
Cheers my uncle,
Tell the wife she must knit you a warm jersey!
Keep warm!
Ciao ciao
One thing about mother nature, when it gets cold she provides firewood, I know you're a happy chappy to have that, nice work on the road Div, can't wait to see more on the Ole Hudson, till then, have a lika one
Hmmmmm. Rain in a rain forest. What a concept. Lol. Glad you didnt have any damage to your home or shop.
Div, Ali, and family stay safe & well. ❤👍🏴
Good to see I'm not the only old bloke that has to do this sort of stuff. Thanks Div.
Yeah, some of us has to (wants to?) work!
Incredible rainfall of a 25 yr event. Another 25 yrs, you know what to expect. A fleet of Rat Rods on the high ground! My best!
Doubt I will still be around in 25 years🙂
@@ratrodsafrica Remember that 40 is the new 60. So 75?
Quality snuggling with the wife is always 👌
Thanks for the show Div.
Bliksem. People have no idea how much work it takes to sort out roads and infrastructure.
Glad you have got it sorted out.
You are right! Still a lot of work to do, but the worst are covered.
Best to you
So glad my little Suzuki Swift toy car visited you before these roads became like this
Ja, will not make it now!🙂
Third world country or not what a great place to live love that truck you are one lucky OG what a great life.
Yeah, blessed to live here! One of the advantages to live in a Third world country. Within chaos is freedom! 😀
Thanks for sharing...Lovely forests. My Dad was offered a job in South Africa, when I was a kid/1960's.
Good change of pace even if you had all these things to do. At least you and your wife remained safe through the storms.
Enjoyed this video today, seeing how you cleared up the road and cutting up those trees.
Dude, you got so much clean up and road repair you are never going to be back on the Hudson ratrod. 😭 Except by the grace of God.🙏👍😁
Truck building has top priority!🙂 Will take small bites of the rest over time...
Even though this is about bad weather, with the sun out and the mountains in the background, it sure looked beautiful. Little kubota is worth its weight. Have a lekka one brother!
I always wondered about this truck. Now I know thanks.
Would love to see a more detailed walk around of the truck it looks great I wish there had been a build video of that
Mother nature dished you out quite a display of temper. Glad u got safely thru it. 👍
Weird contraptions are the very best of contraptions! The wrecker is a great rig. I’m sorry we didn’t get the chance to watch u build it, and I’d love to see more of ANYTHING you’ve previously constructed. Needless to say!!!
Your area looks like such a beautiful corner of the world… especially on a sunny day! Thanks for finding the time to put up a vid even while fighting the elements.
Stay warm and dry. 😊👍👍
Blessed to live in a beautiful part of the world. Will make a plan to show some other stuff.
Lucky you’ve got the tools and know how ! Plus the drive to get it done!👍
looks like plenty of firewood to keep you cozy
Bliksem! that's not lekker, too much rain is just as bad as not enough. Your work and talent for making amazing vehicles is astounding, excellent details.
Lots of rain = lots of work
That Commer cab 4x4 is my type of truck and I still want to see you do your wife's Bedford, stay safe mate
yes do video on recovery rig would be great
*Wow the road to your workshop , it's an adventure man . And I thought my driveway was bad. Love watching your videos Diff, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great tour of the roads and damage. Glad you're safe. I hear Africa is cutting in half with a new ocean going in the middle. If you can believe the news.
Ja, the news... who knows maybe I will have a beach front property soon!😂
Have a lucky one Dif.
Fine to see your movies.
Loveing that little 4x4 truck
Thanks
Good one one the wood! It will keep you warm for the winter....😁
Certainly enough, just gotta cut it up...🙂
You live on a absolutely beautiful piece of property just amazing even with the challenges
Yes, blessed to live here! 🙏
I am sorry to see such damage near your home. You, however live in a beautiful area. Stay warm and dry Diff. Will look for you later brother. Thanks
Yes, very blessed to live here!
😎🇺🇲👍
Beautiful country.
Looks similar to the PNW after heavy rains.
Cheers from the US.✌️🤘
Ty for showing your land and what u see was vary cool
Third. You should come to Canada in the winter. We'll show you what cold really feels like
Lol piss on the cold in Canada
No thank you, I will just die!! Spent a winter in Maryland on Chesapeake Bay and that was enough for me!
Haha I live in VA and I despise the cold of winter. I can't imagine living where some of these other people live and feel comfortable. VA is too far north for me as it is! God bless em but when I move it will be SOUTH hahaha
Glad you're safe! 👍
That was my favourite video of yours. Thanks for sharing and good job dealing with that storm👍
Thanks and pleasure!
Thanks for sharing 👍😀
Im glad everyone is safe. I hope it smooths out for you. Id watch you build a lawn mower. If you put it out I'll watch it.🐾🍺
😆Thanks for the support!
Praying for you over there Div. Wow. Hopefully back in shop soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Fab On. Weld On. Keep making. God bless.
Thanks!
It’s a beautiful country that you live in Diff.
Yes, blessed to live in my spot!
Very Good Job My Friend ❤❤❤❤❤
Someone buy this man a Grader.💪
Yeah!! 😆
It looked to me that you have a bunch of experience using that Kubota to fix roads!
Just glad you didn’t get washed away by the rains!
Been spending a lot of time on that little machine over the years.😀
Well that was certainly a change of pace, destruction instead of construction.( Had the rain and wind here also(Tassie) not quite that bad though.
More on the triple r tow truck.thats a big yes from me thanks Div...Other vids of what else you get upto or have done, would be good ,if you are happy to make them ol son....Cheers.
Yes, I love to know about it.
Man you have some major ruts in your road I take it it’s winter there busting trees man what a mess hang in there we’ve had some winter like that lot of work!!!😊
More information on the commer would be great.Keep up with your amazing work.
On the bright side, you have some nice wood for the fireside. The roadworks are the crappy job.
Yes, where i live in country in Michigan i deal with same stuff. When it comes to storms, lol we have a lot in common, lol love your videos. Keep them coming please
Hey Div,
Maybe you can accept my thinking about the weather.
No matter what weather mother nature brings, I just accept it as another day in paradise !
It may not be blissful, it may be costly, maybe even destructive and deadly.
But what is the alternative ?
I choose to live here knowing how it may be, good or bad, it is my home !
I was born here, I expect to die here.
Good to see a bit about that truck, I have wondered about it.
Have a Lakka one !
Yes, we take it all within our stride. Always think about the up side and the blessings, dont want to go anywhere else!
man, I think you have the answer, giver!
I kind of like The truck It's cool .I wouldn't mind having one like that myself. I got A 95G MC. Jimmy that I'm building.
Thanks for the update. It always becomes a lot of work taking care of what mother nature dishes out but she brings it on for a reason. Yes I for one would like a tour of your past builds since I have only been watching for a short while now. Thank you. Take care diff and family have a great day.
Love that thing! Interesting soil. No flip flops?? Actual shoes! 😂
😂Ja, unfortunately I have to wear frigging shoes now!😂
looks like you need a box blade! flatten them ole roads right out! Hope it dries out and you aren't filling sandbags anytime soon, Diff!
Luckily never a need for sand bags here, it's way too hilly, water just runs away
I know how that goes! And that's in the summer. In the winter we get ice and snow with those same winds. LOL . I feel your pain, man!
Hang in there! Tomorrow will have its problems!
😂 Exactly!
impressive truck and nice place where you live. thanks for the video
Man you get that digger doing what it's suppose to, living in the Bush that's a must. First time I've seen the recovery vehicle boogie. I've got the same drive line 94 model. SA and Tasmania must be getting the same weather patterns we just got 60mm with very high winds. Keep warm and have a lekker one.
We both getting those cold fronts out of the Southern ocean!
Safe some of those logs and turn lekker gear knobs
Another great video 👍👍
Thanks for the update my friend, if I could send you some of this Texas heat I would. Its been so hot here the chickens have been laying fried eggs "lol"!
😂 Send me some of that heat! And some eggs😂
The weather events around the world are getting very bad. Glad you survived it okay.
True that!
Awsome, I love it, amazing
Definitely do a video on the triple R
Mother nature wanted her house cleaned up; just glad nobody was hurt. Maybe some culvert/drainage pipe at the entries to the driveway from the street would save the entrances from washing out. Create a path for the flow close to where mother nature wanted it to go, she's trying to tell you. LOL
Culverts, drainage is the answer yes. Huge and expensive job though, and that is actually a public road, supposed to be maintained by the municipality/state! Which they dont... welcome to Africa!
@@ratrodsafrica Seems to be the foremost qualification for municipal workers here in the State's also, must be a union thing worldwide brotherhood of procrastinator's.
You know, I think Noah was about your age when he started building the ark...just sayin' man. Excellent video yet again, even though there wasn't much car building. Be safe and stay healthy, that's what really matters!
Dear davidmspine
👍👌👏😁😁😁 Yeah, and he even looked similar! Maybe Dif will build an amphibious vehicle as a next project because one never knows what comes in the future. So better be prepared. 😁 ;-)
Best regards, luck and health in particular.
Gonna have to be an ark with space for my cars!😂
@@ratrodsafrica
I think you may have slightly missed the point. 😁 ;-)
Hi Div, would like to send you some supply of heat from Austria in exchange for some more rain (what our landscape would appreciate much). But as we also have experienced the "millenium flood" in our county a couple of years ago I can tell you: All this comes and goes with the flowing of time. You know it.... Stay well and see you on the rat rod projects again next time
You have a deal, I'll swop you😆
Be safe.
love watching your videos div,you seem to take it all in your stride and love youre tow truck looks great 👍
Thank you! 🙂
Really nice video again Div!
Here in brazil we also had really heavy rain and wind in the last few days
Nice man! I was half expecting to see the Jurassic Park gates when you were driving around inspecting the roads! :)
😂
At least you and family are all safe. Yes a walk around of your other projects ( vehicles ,tools, etc)would be interesting. The Hudson will be great fun and and very cool. I will also be waiting for the time you get around to the 37 Chevrolet. Cheers!
he weather here in my area of South Central Nebraska(US) has been kind of weird too. While the rest of the states and most of Europe has been burning up with the hot weather, here we have not had any tempures aboce 93 F or 34 C, most of the spring and summer have been around 75 F or 24 C, with a lot of rain. The most rain we have seen during May, June and July in almost 25 years. But you go 2 hours in any directions it has been so dry their are fire warnings. The fires up in Canada are so bad, that all over the states it look like fog has set in, but it is smoke, all day long.I look forward to your next video on the Hudson.
Bart
Weather events all over the world are unusual...
Well, at least the cat got some relief.
😂
WOW!
Hello Div, you mentioned seeing some of your previous builds to make new programs would be really cool. Always enjoy your programs. Good luck with the road and getting the trees out of the way. Take care and be safe. 👍 Have a Lekka day.
Wow. You call those roads? Good thing you have your truck. Interesting way to live. I had no idea you lived so far out of nowhere. Keep up the great work that you do.
Not that far, closest town is 30 km away🙂
On those roads I bet it feels pretty far. Like I said good thing you have your truck. I don't think the Renault could make it through there during a heavy rain. :).
@@ratrodsafrica
Commer is a vary well known brand here in NZ, But it was made by Rootes group and I have a Rootes group car, looks like you got the tail end of cyclone Gabriel
You have to build a grader for your road now.🤔🇨🇦
Well I see the rain and storms have been bad for you yea I hate to see that really glad all it ok tho and I see it's still really green but cold weather out so does the landscape stay green even tho it's cold weather out trees turn colors lol hey but great video I like to see how everything looks so till next time 👍👍👍👍
Yes, most of the trees here are evergreen.
We got that black wattle here in NZ too make great firewood tho. We have had nothing but storms here since Christmas your roads look in better condition than our state highways lol. 😁🇬🇸👍
Holy cow! Makes me feel a little better 🙂
Dear Dif
👍👌👏 Maaan, as small as your Kubota backhoe is, as versatile it nevertheless is. Simply a very helpful/useful little machine. Congrats for owning it. 2) I'm happy to hear that no human or cat was harmed during this very wet period.
3) I like this video although it also showed a (small) natural disaster. It mustn't always be strictly about cars/rat rods. Some variety is nice to have... not too much of course! 😁 ;-)
4) I really wonder what you mean by saying that it's freaking cold in Africa. Maybe only +15 degrees Celsius instead of 40? 😁 ;-)
5) Maybe you should build an amphibious vehicle as a next project because one never knows what comes in the future. So better be prepared. You already even look like Noah, so let's get started! 😁 ;-)
5) It's always good to have a stash of firewood.
Thanks a lot for making explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards, luck and health in particular. To all of you of course.
Its been down to around 0 degrees C overnight. Nothing in comparison to many places, but cold is relative to what you are used to!
@@ratrodsafrica
That cold? I wasn't expecting this. 2) Yes, you're totally right. 3) The climate changes definitely. In Germany we had/have long droughts and temperatures between 30 to 40 degrees Celsius. I'm definitely not made for this, don't want it and don't like it at all.
Thanks a lot for replying and especially for giving a heart to my comment. As you already know, I always and totally appreciate both very much.
Sincerely yours.
Hey hate the bad luck with all the rain hope everything goes well during the clean up, now lot of fire wood for the cold days!
I, personally would love to see all about your recovery truck. And an amazing place that your fortunate to call home. Those heavy rains played havoc on your piece of heaven. I’m sure you know they also flush out all sorts of slithering creatures as well. Be safe my brother. Thx for sharing your world with us. 👍🏻✌🏻
Awesome video thanks for sharing I messaged you I’m building one also on a 42 Dodge Rat
Cool man. Enjoy the build!
Hey brother it’s been raining every stinking day here for a while here in south Mississippi 👍
We are not alone then!🙂
The view on your property is amazing. Living in the city sucks.
Yes bro, very blessed to live here!
Weather around the world is crazy.... How cold is it?...... We set a record for the hottest June in Canada... July is much cooler.... Thanks for sharing your adventures..
The cold is nothing compared what you guys get! Only down to about 0 Celsius at night, but very unusual for where I am.
Another good video Diff KEEP THEM COMING 👏 🇺🇲
Always enjoy watching your craftsmanship , but I also enjoy your trips around the neighborhood, Thankyou
I'm here that's what matters
Need a ditch on both side of those roads 2ft deep
