Fun fact, I used to work where the thumbnail image is from. It's from a place called House on the Rock in southwest Wisconsin. What your seeing is a life-sized sculpture of a whale fighting a giant squid. It's in this massive room with walkways that spiral around the model. It's disorienting enough trying to look at it when the lights are on, but when you're opening up in the morning and only have your dying keychain light to illuminate the way, seeing this barn-sized creature emerge from the darkness is pretty awe-inspiring. It's like seeing a shipwreck emerge from the haze.
I wouldn’t be awe inspired, I’d just be freaked the fuck out be turning on the light to illuminate this massive big toothed sculpture. I’m not diagnosed, but I think I might have Megalophobia, but there’s no way to know until I get some kind of diagnosis.

These look really cool
I have megalophobia and the thing that scares me the most is seeing something that is far away so it looks faded but it still looks huge.
Me: *Sees large objects* ‘Those are actually kinda cool.’
Also me: *Sees a lake with enough of a murky bottom that the lakebed can’t be seen* ‘NOOOOOOOOOPE! I’m out!’
Deep waters are nightmarishly scary.
I love beaches, but I'm deathly terrified of the ocean.
its the thalassophobia 😭 i have it
@@tcb575 wasn't Thalassophobia meant for Titanic Sea creatures? (Like subnautica? Either way we are glad we evolved out the ocean bc sharks and anglers would've wrecked us.)
@Mr Till the end ah to be a scuba diver and seeing every dark layer, of God's fearful-opus, that it be alive, or dead.

The creepy music was too creepy, so I muted it and played cheerful banjo music in another tab. To say it changed the experience is an understatement
hahahhaa this made my day
A lot of these images would make sick album covers ngl
Instead of being afraid of big things, I am more afraid of the thought that they could collapse or fall at any moment.or being the one who falls off those Things but that Is rather acrophobia tbh.
2 years later edit:I think another reason is a mixture between fear of heights and the 'primal' sense that big things are dangerous, like a big bear that could easily kill you, this sense is still here and stuff that puts in perspective how big these things are makes this images unnerving to some, however im no scientist so prove me wrong.
thats what they are feared of

I don't have megalophobia but it scares me to think that somebody allowed permission to build of what it looks like, as large as a battleship's deck, on top of 3 buildings that don't even have even height, with wide gaps between the three.
The music is the scariest part of the video

You look at the vast pattern of ever-so extending surfaces, looking you dead at the eyes, you feel like you shrunk to a minuscule size, you can’t comprehend the scale of the structures, you feel empty, it looks like you can’t run away, you feel scared.
