At night time Meskel Square is a very beautiful place to visit in Ethiopia. There are many food trucks with different foods and drinks. We stop and try some food and take a walk around Meskel Square at night. This is what to do at night in Ethiopia.

An Ethiopian living abroad here. I suggest you travel with someone who is street smart( knows about the market price of most things). Just like any other country in the world, tourists are asked for a hefty price which is unnecessary. You could save yourself 50% of what you are spending for food and services by having someone who knows the price of things. That ertib thing for 12hundred is the steal of the century imo.

chicken shawarma are around 300/350 minimum + juice which is around 70/80 minimum so it's around 370/430 each in minimum that means 740/860 for both of you minimum... and know in Ethiopia we have only organic chickens that take 6 months to grow, this are not 7 day chickens.
and this places charge more because of the place obviously, so that's not a scam just a high price place.

I am so mad for you... they dont deserve your positive energy and kindness. I understand its tough out there but where is the love?? U should get a local to travel with you that will keep them honest, so they dont try to take advantage. DEFINITELY ask for prices before any service, its not rude at all. Be careful brother, the vibe they give to foreigners is alarming. Bringing a local with you will definitely help open them up and be less defensive or sneaky. Most people are kind over there but i didnt like the way they treated you. No wonder you dont see so many foreigners back home. Gotta show love to good people. Thank you anyways for sharing and having such a great spirit. Hope you get invited to a familys house and get treated/fed like family. You can tip them afterwards if you truly enjoyed the experience as a welcome. Keep em comming tho, love the content and i subscribed in support of you❤

Good vlog. The city levies a hefty surcharge for concession stands in the square, as cities across the world do. That is the reason for food and services being pricy there. And it is justified. There is cost to the city when concession stands operate in the square.

The price of food in Ethiopia, specially in Addis Ababa is crazy expensive.. most locals consider burgers and pizza as luxury food as they usually cost 1/4 of most Ethiopian's monthly salary.
Not true at all, even best Burger shops like In n Out, Enjoy or Wow bill you 4 or 5 USD for a burger 🍔, just exaggerated opinion.

If your monthly salary is 800 it might be correct. Is yours like that?

No they didn't scam him bro.. Prices on those food courts are extremely expensive.. i have been there.. their burgers are anywhere between 500-600 birr.. if u eat two burgers that would be 1200 Birr... they are crazy expensive..thats why they have NO customers at all. They open at 5PM and close at 8Pm so they have to a short profit span..that's why their prices are unimaginable
