Cyrus, imagine that the west realized all of their companies and famous corporations are on track to die within 10 years because their labor force is so dysfunctional from DEI and ESG and etc that they simply cannot compete with asians working 12 hour days 6 days a week trying to produce as much as possible. What would they do? Isolate markets? How do you isolate east from west? Political polarization somehow? it's going to happen soon. Globalism is now the enemy of the west because they made their populations so dysfunctional and poorly educated entire generations of them can't compete with the east. They have to isolate markets or else be relegated to lower status.

I live in Honduras. I own a clinical lab since 2000. When I opened it, 24 years ago, all the good lab equipment was European or from the US. Today everything is Chinese, and it's superior in every aspect - features, quality, technical support and price.
That's a very interesting fact, thanks for sharing, similar to the consumer tech products, while we still have Samsung and Apple due to US and EU suppression of Huawei, but otherwise, half of my high tech devices are Chinese brands.

I have been working in this field for 2 decades and it is important to realize that this relationship is in reality very different than what the US public and US politicians think. They still believe the US is the great, leading, most advanced part and the Chinese are the underdeveloped, inept junior partner. Nothing could be further from the truth, not just because of the clinical trial numbers. The capabilities of researchers, the sheer number of extremely qualified students, and the rapid advance of medical and analytical devices not hampered by crazy bureaucracy, all have created and will advance a very capable Chinese biotech industry that could leave the US and other G7 countries in the dust. Bigger picture this will lead to a situation where Chinese researcher and companies will ultimately offer cures and solutions and the rest of the world will not make it a political issue if it removes ailments from the public. That's why both the biotech ban and the TikToc ban are foolish. If you like to dive deeper I recommend the book by Walter Isaacson: The Code Breaker.

Interesting mention of Wuxi. They have a major Biopharma facility in Ireland. They are a highly respected company. Zero threat to the USA. Paranoia on the part of the American’s as they see their global primacy being eroded. What a shame that America is going down this road.
Another company affected by the BioSecurity Act is Wuxi Biologics, which is the second largest Biotechnology CDMO in the world. More than 50% of its revenue is from US pharmaceutical companies. They allow Wuxi to develop their new drugs while keeping the intellectual property rights. This new bill will do damage and set back these US pharmaceutical companies.
