  • Brother ‪@Akon‬ is back being divisive trying to separate The African Diaspora once again as he has always done. Not only is he a hater of African Americans, he has now been alleged to be a scammer by certain people here on the internet. What is Akon's real intention of saying Nigerians are the smartest people in the world?

For all of you people who said you lost respect for me because of this episode, I want to ask you this: Do you think I wake up in the morning looking for you negroes respect? My brand of pro blackness/ pan africanism is not watered down. I'm not the guy that smiles on camera just to get people to like me. We don't need your money that bad on Kenganda to be that fake. Is the issue of the clip you played a Nigerian issue or an Akon issue?
If you want to discuss Nigeria, then discuss Nigeria. However the issue with Nigeria as a country, is an African issue and colonialism, brain washing education and all the tactics involved with keeping Afros all over the world docile. Nigeria / Africa would require a major uprising to change the attitude / docile nature of the people. Nigeria has great places and low places, so also with developed countries, they also have low places too.
We cant make others not keep calling us "N's", if we come out this way and be calling ourselves same.

@@Kenganda only greedy or lazy people fall for scams.
Sometimes some businesses just fail, it doesn't mean it was intended as a scam from ab initio. Not supporting Akon in any way either. Nigerians everyday are also scammed in Nigeria and even by wyt people in developed countries. Some people just like to take risks and hope, it ends in a positive way, even when the business makes no sense. The biggest coins made no sense but some risk takers hopped in. Most successful business, became successful based on trust, hope and faith. Some coins failed, and yet the founders are yet to be penalised. Theres a video on YT on scammers of Forex Trading, using well developed registered Forex companies scamming people all over the world and the scammers living large.
If Nigerians fall for his scam, it would be a pity.
If Akons is a scam, then full details of his scam and tactics should be made public. But its not being discussed, as if the victims are ashamed, they were so gullible.
Nigerians embrace AA's except if they have personal issues with themselves.
You are sending out negative vides to Nigerians who actually appreciate your work and hope for a better Africa, with the AA's returning.
There's already too much divisions and issues in Nig and Africa, probably why Nig govt isn't asking for AAs or anyone at all to return yet.
At the end of the day, foreign involvement in African govt matters causes more issues in Africa than scammers would ever cause. If the govt was right, his actions, when proved as being against the law, would be punishable.

I used to think I was smart. Then I bought a house I could not build myself. When I had problems with the roof, plumbing, landscaping, etc, I had to call someone who could do the job because I could not myself. Then I had to go to the doctor, and he had to refer me to different specialist because they were only smart in only one field. My pantry is full of food that I would not be able to grow if the world was in an emergency. We tend to be smart only doing one thing. To survive we fully depend on each other.

I’m Nigerian and don’t necessarily agree that Nigerians are the smartest or the most talented. Every race, every ethnic group or people can lay claim to that.
However here is what I know for sure: Pan Africanism or African brotherhood or whatever you call it is a big lie. There is no such thing.
Today, every one masturbates happily when Nigerians are ridiculed, labelled, profiled and abused world over. When they say we are the biggest scammers (which is not based on facts) you all are happy.
But when someone passes a simple compliment about Nigerians, other Black people especially fellow Africans foam at the mouth.
As Nigerians, we know very well we are not liked. Only tolerated. And it’s fine. Some people will say oh we are responsible for that but the facts say otherwise.
So to my fellow Nigerians out there, don’t dim your light for anyone. Anywhere you find yourself, be the best and be unapologetic.
I also need to correct a misconception I’ve seen peddled here and on other fora that East Africa is more developed than West Africa. My question is on what basis?
The only country in the whole of East Africa that can hold a torch to say Ghana or Nigeria for example is Kenya. Others are villages and yes that includes: Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Congo, Ethiopia etc.
And talking about cities, Nairobi is the most developed in East Africa. And you’ll be damned to think Nairobi is more developed than Abuja in Nigeria for example.
Shall we talk about FDI? Tech ecosystem? Economy?
I’m not saying Kenya is not pulling its weight but let’s stop with the lies.
In 2022 I believe Kenyan startups received over $1billion in investments, the second highest after Nigeria. But go check the number of foreign-led startups that make up the number in Kenya compared to Nigeria.
Perhaps HDI and PCI; I don’t have the figures but I suspect Kenya may do better than Nigeria in that area, so I’ll give them their flowers.
But you see the rest of East Africa, please take several seats.
Let’s stop peddling lies just so we can feel good about ourselves or put down others.
Nigeria is on its knees right now but even then no other sub-Saharan African country is anywhere close, save South Africa and maybe Kenya.
    The disrespect has to stop.

Why do so many AAs have a visceral antagonism for anything Nigeria? First Nore in the clip, now Oshay 😂
    1. Saying that Nigerians are the smartest in the world doesn't connote "preference" over other Pan African groups lol. It means they're smarter than everyone. It's sloppy to suggest Akon is tribal and biased against his Senegalese people lol.
    2. I'm a Pan Africanist, and I can objectively state without bias that Jamaicans are the fastest people in the world, etc. That doesn't mean I'm "tribal," "divisive," or showing bias.
Oshay is either hating, or struggling to distinguish talent from politics. The fact that the average Nigerian immigrant SIGNIFICANTLY outperforms Americans/Britons in education and wealth creation in their own countries absolutely means that Nigerians are superior to them in those realms 💯. It has nothing to do with the politics in their homeland lol. I dare Oshay and AAs to go to Nigeria and outperform them 😅😂

But we definitely the smartest of the black people education wise. Stats like in 2020 of the graduating doctors at Harvard; the most prestigious university in the world; 48 of the 97 graduates were from Nigeria. Can’t beat stats like that we’re on par with the Chinese and outperforming whites in their own country..But that shouldn’t make anyone feel bad work harder and compete we’re still all family at the end of the day. Just as you would compete with a sibling same applies and if that sibling gets the best of you congratulates them.
We have to stop allowing the sensitivity of black people to hold us back. The whites compete with each other and it makes them better look at the history of France and UK or Rome and Ancient Greece. Competition breeds excellence and something I notice among black folks is that Nigerians are the only group not sensitive when it comes to competition, bc no Nigerian would even pay no mind if you said your better than us at something bc of our pride come show us. There’s no pan-Africanism with jealousy of your fellow brother.

I am really finding it hard to see Oshay’s side on this. A Senegalese says Nigerians are the smartest people in the world, he didn’t say the Senegalese were, and he said in the world what’s more pan African than that?
I think as black people we have attached emotions to the word smart, among the Nigerians are people who also originated from Congo, even east Africa. You don’t get more African than Nigerian. It’ll even be fair to say at least 40% of the African diaspora is Nigerian. It does not mean other Africans are not smart. However, it’s like what Neil degrase said, Africa is the most diverse place in the world, it’s only in Africa where you can find the tallest and shortest people in the world, the fastest and the slowest people in the world, the smartest and the dumbest people in the world etc. two egbo kids are holding the highest stat score in the country in the UK, not Indians, not Asian’s and not Europeans, the youngest person to attend curtin university here in Western Australia, a country full of Asian’s is a Nigerian. No need to be emotional guys , it does not mean other Africans are not smart, even in Nigeria it’s not every one.
People from Botswana have more money than Americans, not just African Americans but Americans, the whole country.
Uganda has the highest number of entrepreneurs in the world
Without African Americans Africa may not be independent today.
Knowing this information is vital for our own development, it’s not unpan Africanist.
Also saying other races don’t about this is disingenuous, we say the juus have done well but what we don’t know is that one group called the ashkanazi is the one that has dominated in their community but the whole community benefits.
The Arabs do talk about this too, so do the Asian’s, they joke about themselves, the reason we don’t is because we are not in their podcasts, also we don’t speak their language, most of us.

@MrOneWay5000. It baffles me, really. This should not even be a discussion on this podcast I rated so highly until now. The annoying part is his arrogance in the comment section saying he doesn't need anyone and he think that's a wise thing to say. Everyone needs people to make it in life. See how he spoke all through while the lady just listened because he was so triggered. This is where white people are different from blacks, the moment a couple of people tells a white person he is wrong, he immediately apologizes but some black folks will jump to the defensive and continue to claim “it's my opinion”. Akon is not even Nigeria and he only made that statement because his interviewer was insisting on the negative things he's heard about Nigerians. Go to most blogs run by Nigerians and listen to the way Nigerians criticize themselves unlike other black people who sugar coat their problems and act like all is well. If an African American shots and kill an AA for instance, you’ll never hear BLM come out to condemn it but if a white person does it, they are quick to come out to protest. Is that how you correct the ills in your communities? Why Akon’s statement should upset another black person is what I really do not understand. If Akon was bad saying that Nigerians are the smartest, he was even worse in his criticism of him which made him sound like he has something against Nigerians before now. Is this the pan-Africanism you preach about when you can't stand a compliment given to your fellow black man who was being degraded by another black person? Smh!

In the past year or so social media is filled with Nigerians talking down every black group because of success in Afrobeats entertainment! I have even read a few on this thread. Meanwhile Nigeria is failing in almost all measurable economic data except GDP. Even here, once you consider GDP per capita, Nigeria falls off again. Nore is always throwing people off thought, so I was disappointed he didn't get to expound on his point. But I think Akon's point was about Nigerians being savvy in business and making money. I didn't necessarily take offense as an African American, feeling that he was praising a certain group over another. Or even trying to divide the diaspora with absolutes and definitive statements.
