This is crazy, the first thing I did when I learned the basics of geo-nodes from one of your earlier tutorials was make a fractal and I was thinking "damn it'd be nice if blender had some kind of recursion node or a repeat node or something" and here it is...
Every month or so I was googling again and again, to see if this is something that gets added. And just as I skipped a month it gets reviewed by CGMatter. Amazing)
What is also great that number of iterations can be keyframed for animation purposes. It differs from simulation zone that you can control when iterations increase/decrease instead of making them run every frame.
I can't think of any other youtuber or teacher or anyone who can break complex things down and explain them in simple terms who then gives examples to further illustrate something complex. Thank you for making these videos.
Loop node (repeat zone) does make it easy to iterate. Though you may need to express an utmost caution with iteration count since most of pc would freeze or become extremely laggy after 5-6 instancing iteration. Better set in group input max first asap.
AHHH FINALLYYY i actually have already made a tumblr style sierpinski pyramid thing with blender. and there is a part where i repeat a node to iterate it. i couldnt be bothered to make the number of iterations editable through the node group input. it would be just a mess of nodes. this repeat zone is gonna make things soo much easierr. i cant wait for blender 4 to fully release
Can someone tell me how he is duplicating the object but the outliner isn't showing the extra cubes? Whenever I try to duplicate with shift+D or Alt+D I get 9 extra cubes in the outliner. This is probably basic stuff but I started with blender very recently....

...yet another much-needed tutorial, brilliantly produced to show how easy it can be.
Thank you
Awesome! immediately got myself blender 4.0 and tried it out.

Thanks for doing so much heavy lifting in your R&D for our benefit. 👍👍👍
He cut his hair?
It's a geo node trick

Super useful. Thanks for another neat tutorial!
Love this bgm, reminds me of the old notepad tutorials!
cgmatter using that music to break the algorithm
thank you! this helps a lot!
OH SHIT my brain!!!!! I cant help but think this could be used to make a MIND TAKING non-euclidean game.
Question: how do textures display on something like this? Can you display an image on each of the individual shapes once created?
could you use this with the new simulation nodes to create a fractal that infinitely gets more detailed? or do i misunderstand the simulation nodes
did u resample curve your hairs node and left it at 2 and scaled them by 30? :D
Crazy tutorial CHEERS BRO
I made both of these 3d fractals in Minecraft before using code so it’s cool to see them in blender now :3c
I'm so fucking happy right now no more custom loop nodes , this is probably going to be the biggest level up on my workflow EVER.
You should have picked a fractal that was easier to pronounce than the Menstrual Sponge fractal. JS 🤷
Are you by chance working on an intermediate geometry nodes course? I leveled up quite a bit from your beginner course, and I’m craving more.
😮wow, this is quite interesting.
These tutorials are getting great!
excellent
So, is it possible to further optimize this to get more instances?
clap clap clap clap clap! awesome!

He's doing it in edit mode.
4D Julua and Quaternions too?
Is this functionality also gonna be available for shader nodes?
No idea
Oh wow, just saw this. Mind-blown❣️😎💥!!
why is blud in black and white
WHOOOOOOOOO
Love
Will this be 3d printable ?
that's not a donut
