These ladies are my people. I finally have found someone with a similar experience as mine through this podcast/video. I was in that era with Josh Harris book " I kissed Dating Goodbye" . At church they always told us God will bring "the one " because " true love waits ". They also told us how modesty was the hottest and how we need to wear our purity rings and one day "the one" will give us the real thing(now in retrospect it is funny how all of the onus for being pure was only put on the girls and the women). Some girls were even forced to make promises to their fathers that they would be virgins unti 'the one " comes along . For years and decades I followed this doctrine. Well turns out God was NOT checking for this black girl's love life at all. True love was not waiting . I was waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting. Turns out there was no "the one " . Now I am starring down the barrel of a lifetime of lonliness never to marry, never to bear children, never to have meaningful intimacy .

I remember that book. I’m 28 but I think it was recommended by the pastor during the dating series he did when I was in varsity/college so I spent most of my 20s single. It’s only now that I’m starting to put myself out there (I’m an introvert) and seeing that the brothers be knowing the word but not living it out 👀

Okay I’m not even finished with this episode yet but I resonated with so much of what yall are saying. I’m 31 and for the last couple of years I’ve been being pruned by God and hyper focused on him. & that’s awesome and amazing but the other day I told myself, “self you gots to go OUT. Go to an Astros game. Remember that you enjoy listening to neo soul.” Because for a while I was growing so much in God but just forgetting about the other aspects of me. & I thank God for my pruning season. I needed it because baby I used to be a wild one 😂 but I’m starting to realize there has to be balance. I can still be a woman of God and yes I can leave my house and have fun!

As I was listening to this episode I knew the Holy Spirit was speaking to me because I sho be in the house. Also, being a beautiful 22-year-old but I act like an old lady😅and being on fire for God. I need to get out and have fun even if It's by myself. I think sometimes I let myself and others stop me from having the fun I know I need and deserve. I enjoyed this episode!!!!
