XUV 700 has already achieved an impressive 5-star rating for adult occupant protection and 4 stars for child occupant protection in the Global NCAP crash test.
Yes, but Global NCAP is different to Euro NCAP and ANCAP. We understand Mahindra is looking into submitting the car for ANCAP testing in the future. - Sam
Any Idea when Mahindra is going to get their ANCAP rating in Australia? or When Mahindra is planning to go for the ANCAP rating test?@@Drivecomau
U can call it “most affordable “ rather than “cheapest “ .. coz it doesn’t translate to that term given the quality of this amazing car ❤
Indians coming here trying to look patriotic... Come on gyss your comments are not going to promote an Indian brand but the product quality will. So you don't need to come here to promote it.😀
Well it happens so that the said quality of the product is really very good and a little commenting to support our brands doesn't hurt.
Cheapest 5+2 medium SUV in Australia with a good design, build quality and great warranty. Its top of the range is still $5k cheaper than the bottom of range X-trail and $11k cheaper that comparably equipped X-trail. Perfect model to penetrate Aussie market. BTW, I found it odd that they launched this car in Australia with same Indian firmware showing some Indian Apps and mileage in km/l instead of l/100km. These small things shouldn't be ignored.
I think the reputation of Mahindra as a regional, rural car maker is casting a shadow on the new cars it is launching in Australia. The opinion in this review certainly carries a lot of baggage in that regards and doesnt really represent the actual worth and quality of this car. The feedback this car is getting from all over the world wherever it has spent some time is amazing. With time, when the public actually gets its hand on it, it will be a hit in Australia.
You are right, many will be pleasantly surprised by this car. It's a vastly different offering to what Mahindra has done before.
Ordered one, can't wait it to arrive next month. 😍
Hope you enjoy it!
How did you order one? From Mahindra Brisbane? There is no mahindra dealer in Melbourne 😢
Excellent review again!👌 Everything to the point. No exaggeration, no drama, just an honest review. Appreciated👍🏼
Thanks, appreciate it! - Sam
Easily the best suv from India 👏💪🏆
Though price seems to be cheap due to forex but this is the best car made in india along with Tata safari.. Dont call a cheap car it sounds weird..
Not the best car made in India. Best car made by an Indian brand to date.
I don't see the issue with cheap? - Sam
@@Drivecomau I mean saying cheapest car it gives an impression of made everything cheap like manufacturing, technology quality, but that is not true. If you say affordable and lowest price in the segment then that gives a right impression. :D.. Bytheway Nice review
It is a cheap car with plenty of cost cutting.

If they make them in LHD, I'm sure they will. -Sam
@@Drivecomau yes. With that market i guess they will do the needful. thanks for the reply .btw nice video

Shut up buddy.

Nice design guys..its looks very cool ..how about exporting these cool cars to Europe like the way china's being doing
It would not only earn reputation of hardwork of Indians and sales but would make indians proud that foreigners are also buying their cats abroad
@@tesla_models Ikr. Tata should export their Tiago EV compact hatch which is guaranteed to be the cheapest EV in Europe, US and Australia if sold even though it’s not ridiculously small like a SmartCar.
I think it's going to do well for Mahindra. -Sam
Not a word from Aussie dealers. They are not going to take a reduction in profits! Too many years of ripping off Aussies for 3 times the price. Their business just could not take it!
To all my fellow indians fighting in the comments I'd like to say that it is the 'cheapest' "7 SEATER" kver there at australia so hes not calling it cheap in negative sense 😉
It's cheap vehicle only I accept that
@@raghuramsrinivasan1371Stop attracting "cheap" publicity bro. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I've tested 10 other SUV's, many much more expensive than the XUV and I can't say one of them drove as nice. Powertrain, interior and tech, which other SUV compares?
Nothing in Australia can really compete with the Mahindra at this price point. I would say Mitsubishi Outlander would be the closest. - Sam
@@Drivecomau Is the outlander not a 2.5 CVT? Sure one I tested a little while back did not have the ride quality of the Mahindra and did not come close to drive or tech specs...
@@jodybotha Yes, a Nissan-sourced 2.5 and CVT. It's not a bad thing either, we would need to do a head-to-head comparison to work out the differences.
I can guarantee the torque convertor Aisin auto in the XUV700 will last far longer than the troublesome CVT autos in the Outlander and the XTrail.
@@Drivecomauwhat's the price difference there and specs for it? And the presence of the brands?
I do like the cable operated handbrake and another thing l like is reliability and these Mahidras should be more reliable than iys competition especially the Kias and Hybrids the PikUp will run for 600000 kilometres easily as good as Toyota maybe but a lot cheaper
How long is the waiting time?here in India it's more than 15months fo AX7L..
Mahindra told us quite a large amount of vehicles will be coming to Australia, but they aren't sure exactly what demand will be like over the next year or two. -Sam
Does it comes with lane keep assist in Australia? Kindly reply anyone
Lane departure warning and lane keep assist are included across the range in Australia. More info here: www.drive.com.au/news/2023-mahindra-xuv700-price-and-specs/
It's a Sophisticated car at an affordable price 💪✌❤
2:08 No, the whole range doesn’t miss out on blind spot monitoring. The AX7L gets blind spot monitoring, through camera feed of the blind spot on the gauge cluster when you indicate. Why don’t you talk about Smart Pilot Assist which enables the car to pretty much drive itself on highways?
agreed...there is a camera inside which acts a blind spot monitoring. And yes, this car is known for its driving assist stuff...one that works really well even in Indian conditions.
@@pummyy Hey Srini, do you remember the user “G Wagoneer” from the articles about XUV700, that’s me. 😁
I'd say blind spot monitoring is a different technology, compared to a blind spot camera. -Sam
@@Drivecomau Why didn’t you mention the Smart Pilot assist which controls the speed and steering on highways? It’s a pretty useful feature.
@@VMRDY Its a small world isn't it !! haha
I am looking to replace my T31 Xtrail with this one. given that it has all the features of a Ti-L xtrail which costs 20k more. No brainer. I will wait for AWD though. Would have preferred AWD in petrol though.
From what we understand, there might be a wait for the AWD diesel in Australia. And petrol will be FWD only
I'll wait for the AWD Diesel with "tan" synthetic leather 😊 and power tail gate and blind spot monitor
Tata motors should launch the new Tata Safari too, leveraging their JLR network.
Tata motor engine is way lagging than Mahindra petrol
🇮🇳 INDIAN BRAND 🇮🇳
Mahindra mStallion petrol engines are very smooth and reliable. 🌏🚙
I like it !
Me too!
The best car.
It has blind spot camera in top model
At only 40 Grand thats great combo
Does Mahindra really have enough service centres in Australia?
7 double O, how many will change the badge around ?
XUV 00
Simple just reverse james bond
Haha, great point! I didn't think of that
Mahindra should increase prices.😊
Mate!! Good review but you might think of changing the wording from cheapest to Affordable!!
How about Inexpensive?
😂😂
Indian own car brands are Tata, Mahindra, Range Rover, Jaguar, Pininfarina, Force Motors.

Blindspot monitoring on the L model while using turn signal.
It's a camera, not a radar-based monitor system. It's intrinsically different technology.
Not cheap but value.
Tata safari might be better option if they launch in Australia as they have their JLR showrooms 👍
Imagine seeing a Tiago in a JLR showroom next to a $300k Range Rover.

I thought the higher spec comes with blind spot
Mahindra engines are highly reliable ! XuV 500 were ment to take beating > Indian conditions are harsh heat, dusty, High traffic, City roads were like off road (now way better) > Farms ! YOu can find loads of videos where people have driven these over 250kms easy and still kicking!
It hot 5 star ncap rating now
SUV 700L is the Best option.
I think they usually refer to it as synthetic leather rather than “fake” leather lol.
How does it compare to the 7 seat LR Discovery Sport (ignoring the price)?
Interior colour is great - I really dislike dark interiors and intend to never buy a dark colour interior again.
Why is it said Seven Double Oh rather than just Seven Hundred?
(There was one slip of the tongue with 700 said lol).
I’ve heard of a theory saying that most Mahindra cars end with an ‘O’ like Scorpio, Xylo, Bolero, Verito, Marazzo. So the XUV-7-double-O and it’s predecessor XUV-5-double-O are pronounced with an ‘O’ ending.
He should’ve mentioned that the tires are made from fake rubber, aka synthetic rubber, because no one uses real rubber to make tyres.
@@VMRDY maybe they are actual O’s not zeros.
@@jerrymyahzcat But Mahindra writes them as 0s not Os in the name. This is the weirdest quirk about the car. 007 is pronounced as double-O-7 in the movies, so it’s not complicated illogical.
@@VMRDY 007 is only ever said as double O seven in regard to James Bond. Otherwise it’s zero zero seven. So this should be said seven hundred.
Hey sam, we ppl of India don't often use the word "cheap", it's meant for negative phrasing. Also, pls don't mind our anger it's just we differ in cultures. Anyways hope you find the car fascinating?
Mahindras are built like tanks
Gotta say its a nice Indian car. But those white leather seats will show its creases so bad!

Ax7L AWD version in india
Guys .. trust me or not you can check the demand for this car in India ,we have still around 1lakh outstanding booking yet to delivered and waiting period is around 18 months , I got it after 11 months after booking .. BTW it’s not cheap , it’s affordable and value for money .. let me give some pros and cons I own this beast diesel AWD top of the line in India ..
Pros :
Fantastic road presence and handling , the electric steering come very handy .
Adaptive dampers - it works like a charm ..
ADAS - one of the cool feature .
Interior - comfortable and good ambient interior - mostly it’s a merc influence
Engine - please drive and check the refinement.. it’s a punchy engine 200hp , 380 NM in petrol , in India we have diesel 185Hp , 450 NM .. both engine refinement is top notch and also diesel NVH is as similar to petrol ..
12 speaker Sony - vow it’s first in class for Sony yo can check they launched this tech first in xuv700
in India at this price point top line diesel AWD , it’s around INR 33 lakhs (60k aud )
Fuel economy -
Petrol - 8 to 9 kmpl ( city )
11 to 12 kmpl ( highway )
Diesel - 11 to 12 Kmol ( in city )
14 to 17 kmpl ( highway )
Cons :
ventilated seats missing
Auto dimming IrvM missing
Auto tail gate -
Atleast they would have added this 3 features when they position it internationally- may be tats one reason they call it cheap ..
These features is not a deal breaker for me ,However I would have been happy with a tailgate since it’s pain in the ass while entering into my office most of the time ..
bTW am happy to see our Indian brand presence in Australia and other countries as well .. please feel this car and it’s quantity , I can see yo mentioned cheap , if yo dint mean that way it’s fine or else pls don hurt us utter those words .. if don like it’s fine we will sooner learn and come up with more sophisticated machine to compete with ..
Thanks for the thorough comment, great to hear you are enjoying your new car.
Using the word cheap isn't a negative for me. This is the cheapest seven-seat car in Australia at the moment, and I think the review conveys that it's good (especially for the money). I prefer not to use words that can sound like marketing or advertising terms, 'cheap' is accurate in this case.
Cheap doesn't have the same meaning all english speaking countries, in some countries it can be derogatory, in some like Australia it isn't. From the review i think it's a great car, but the reality is that new European and Japanese cars offer much much more in that segment. The biggest advantage Mahindra has is that it costs less than any of it's competitors, and i guess thats what Mahindra is targetting anyways outside of India, to be the "most affordable". Another big difference is that western countries usually have much lower taxes so a 60k USD car offers you much much more than a 60k car in india and thus western customers are very spoiled when it comes to cars, the specs of the XUV700 are not impressive at all, it's a common spec even the smallest cars have here.
XUV7OO or XUV700?
Needs auto rear door and better fuel economy plus a five seater, then I’d consider
A five-seat version, with some money shaved off the asking price, would be a good move I think. - Sam
It's surprising if Mahindra doesn't have Diesel version launched in Australia. The one with much better drivability and much much better fuel economy.
Why mahindra every car name ends with "O"
Instead of using the word "cheap," you should be using "least expensive"
Mahindra also funds Harvard University’s woke professors who paint a poor picture of their own Country- that point should also be considered as a virtue of Mahindra.
Is this AWD
In Australia the Mahindra XUV700 is sold as a front-wheel drive only, but overseas it is available with all-wheel drive.
“Cheapest seven seater SUV ( in this segment) in Australia “ read and understand before shooting comments bruh 😊
Best mid size suv in terms of tech, power and offers 5 years warranty
Don't forget value for money. I'm looking forward to the upcoming comparisons we will do against other mid-sized SUVs. - Sam
I advise Mahindra to raise there price by atleast 5000 as all Australians find it cheap . And I heard every now then that although it's cheap.... Although it's cheap.......
This is costing 40,000$ in Australia while same model i purchasing for 52000 $ in India. With no 7 year road assistance or warranty. This is the complaint I have from Mahindra, why selling cheap in Australia compare to India.
Cause India has more demand while Mahindra is establishing their position in Australia's market
Because of Taxes bro. Same reason why the BMW X1 ends up costing 102,000$ in India that too 1.5L 132 hp and 230Nm torque version which is barely in the same range as XUV300 sport figures which is 1/5th of that price. Now compare that.
Not cheap, I think u meant #Value4Money.
I get a feeling many people don't like the term 'cheap' somehow...
@@Drivecomau Indeed
@@Drivecomau Yes, we absolutely do not like the word "cheap". I can tell you a story about this. In January 2008, a car named "Tata Nano" was launched in India for a price of 100,000 Indian rupees. At that time, the starting price of cars in India was 500,000 to 600,000 rupees. Tata Motors' main goal was to make a car that could be afforded even by the poor and middle class, and that's how the Nano came. Everything went perfectly from the engineering team, and the output was good. However, the sales department advertised it as the cheapest car ever made, which led to the failure of the car. Later on, we realized our mistake and started respecting the Tata Nano. So, obviously, we hate the word "cheap". A better term would be "affordable".
Seven hundred
Seven hundred.
All of this looks slick. Wait, till you start getting electronic glitches. Mahindra still has some way to go before they give us a polished product. Its still not a mature product, maybe in a few years but not yet. A great first attempt by Mahindra though. The engine is impressive and transmission smooth. The light colored interior is a bummer and will soil easily. They also need to work a bit more on the clunky suspension.
Better than Chinese alternatives
@@Model1822 No doubt about it. I'll pick the XUV7OO any day over a Chinese alternative if there's any.
The XUV700 has been in production for almost 2 years. I’m sure they would’ve ironed out any defects by now.
I own a xuv700 and haven't faced any glitch after software updates
@adityakaran6622 Well, then you're lucky, my friend, not something a few of my friends/relatives back in India are telling me. As I said, I wish Mahindra listens to the user feedback and irons out these gremlins so that it is a painless ownership experience just as you're having. In fact, if I were to ever relocate to India, I would very seriously consider the XUV7OO.
First and formost it is not cheap actually it is a vfm (value for money) car.and additional data for your information this car has completed 24 hour non stop top speed run and has indian record of most driven car in 24 hours approx(4232.01km).
I use the word cheap because it's the cheapest seven-seat SUV in Australia. -Sam
@@Drivecomauhere in India "cheap" is associated with low price and bad quality products. Affordable is a better word 😊
@@pritishpatil7659 This review is for Australian audiences and in Australia Cheap doesn't mean bad, it just means cheap in sense of it costs less than it's competitors.
Value for money. Don't be a paid reviewer by saying cheap. Cheap never

देसी बंदे को बुरा लग रहा XUV 700 को cheap बोल दिया तो। irony is यह वही बंदे है जो suzuki cars को टिन का डब्बा कहते आ रहे है 😅😅
The word 'cheap' have different connotations in india and Australia, while in india it connotes poorly made, in Australia is connotes that it is affordable which is a great thing
I'm Indian and a friend owns one of these and trust me it's not a 7 seater. The rear "seats" are for toddlers and even they will probably feel claustrophobic. It's truly only a 5 seater.
Many Australians would buy the less compromised 5-seater is it was available here.
No so-called 7 seater are real ones bro. For all of them, rear seats are usually child seats. Just like A segment hatches aren't 4-5 seaters in true sense but rather 2+2. Look at Polo, i10, Tiago rear seats are literally for children.
Indian car culture is bigger and more engaging compare to Chinese car culture, i guess this car might have fighting chance in the new brand car war
This is going to really fight well in the segment I think. -Sam

Use ur brain before commenting... cheap is not a degrading word in english speaking countries. Real meaning of cheap is affordable

I rather buy used toyota for $40k
You know there's a new (very disturbing) trend in India...people are shooting Insta Reels, or even some sleeping with their hands off the wheel leaving the XUV-700 on the ADAS (Advance Deiver Assistance) feature to drive the car on the highways 😂😂😢
No accidents reported so far of such instances but RIP to such people in advance cuz I'm sure they'll break something someday
I just hope & pray there are no such stupid people in Australia who'd do that. Very least expected from Aussies though 😅
That sounds dangerous
Australia is the global capital of cracks in the southern hemisphere, expect them to compete with the Indian cracks.
1. Fastest car in the segment
Mahindra XUV7OO AX7L Petrol Automatic , Most High-tech car in this segment , Most Features loaded car in the segment
Mahindra have always built rugged and long lasting 4 wheel drives. Australian dealers are used to ripping off people for 3 times the price! Their business is geared for this. They will not let Mahindra succeed. Avoid the Aussie market. It is a rip off and meant for fools. I hope Mahindra succeeds......elsewhere!
This car is cheap but I would not be buying over brands like Honda , Toyota or Kia . It might be great for for India …
Would you choose a CR-V over this Mahindra?
