DC has been affected by their ideas with characters such as Harley Quinn, the flash and even Batman all being re-written. I'm so happy you covered this train wreck. If you _really_ want to go down the rabbit hole, you should look at who helped fund Sweet Baby, their connection to Anita Sarkeesian, and how they are using the death of someone to fund all this evil behavior for the past decade since GamerGate. It is just really coming to light how much media has been ruined by people like this
My opinion overall is that I am so happy that all of this is finally coming to light to the public. But in all honesty, I think we should stop using the term "woke" by this point due to its overuse to the point it doesn't mean much of anything nowadays and doesn't communicate much to the normies anymore. We should just start calling this phenomenon for what it is and say "Political Correctness" once again. Not as catchy, but accurate.
You left out the role of investment companies like Blackrock and Vanguard who have tied funding to compliance to ESG and DEI standards in companies and their products.
If it wasn't for the threat of the cutoff of funding, this woke crap would be much more subdued.
She essentially regurgitated the same verbiage and sludge as the Blackr0ck CEO, about trying to force behaviors, manipulate change and overall manufacture consent, sounds like some rap¡st mentality bullsh¡t, not surprising coming from the wh*res and enablers of the ESG (Epste¡n, S0R0S, Gates) and the WEF wastrels. As bold as telling a company that even if it knows what its customers want, and thus could make tons of cash, it shouldn't give it to them and instead listen to people who don't make games and only ruin projects.

@randm4246 and @Jetfumejunkie you are both making good points. I also basically stopped consuming modern media. The 80s, 90s and early 2000s offer anything anyone could ever need. Weirdly enough, there's absolutely no "white male lens". Yeah, there is a mojority of white male protagonists, but even in the 80s and 90s there are people of color and womenin all sorts of roles. Doctors, police chiefs, attorneys, majors. The only difference was, that nobody was mentioning it at all. They were just people.
And I can think barely think of a movie that is about the protagonist being white and male, most of times they were ranking lower in the social hierarchy than the people around them, often being alcoholics, divorced and having problems with their children. And even back then, there often was a female character that got underestimated and had a scene to shine, even saving the main the character in a critical situation.
And I didn't even start talking about all the movies having female and POC protagonists.
Why do these people pretend these movies don't exist? And their gender and skin didn't matter to us and it didn't matter to the other characters in the movie.

I might want to contract them to work on a game we're developing. It's a survival horror based on the Annual Customs of Dahomey. Pretty much all the characters are POC, and to remain historically accurate would need to remain so. It's a culturally revelant period of history that many people, and especially POC are unfamiliar with.

What if I don't want to see either of us in games? When I play a video game, I'm looking to be a different person in a much cooler world for a little while. I don't WANT to play as basically myself. (Frankly, I usually want to play as someone prettier, stronger, more confident, or just plain cooler.) And I definitely don't want to run across this lady in a video game, except maybe as the villain.
We don't give a shit about seeing ourselves in games. I don't see myself in Pac-Man or the Space Invaders shooting thing. They are the ones who need to see people like them.

As a straight, white, British man, I find Aloy from the Horizon series relatable. Simply because I felt like an outcast from society, when I was a kid. The fact that I don't see myself in games fills me with comfort. Seeing myself in a video game would be horrifying and cruel. My childhood was one of deprivation and physical and mental abuse. I don't want to sit and see some fictional character who is supposed to be the hero of the story experiencing the same thing.
I don't play games where the main character was abused as a child, because I DO identify with that, and I don't want to see it. These people are not real victims, they have no idea how real victims react. They are at the tops of their industry, living in posh neighborhoods, complaining about how they're abused and victimized because there aren't enough people like them being given money by the industry they work in.

There is no "picky baby throwing a tantrum." Just dissatisfied customers taking their money elsewhere. If you want to create art, that's great. If you want to sell your art, be prepared to paint what others want to buy and not what you want to paint.
That's the thing. People don't get that commerce and art, though they overlap to some extent, aren't one and the same thing. You can either want to do you and be happy with that, or you can want to sell, and are thus obliged to give customers what they want.
You don’t even have to paint what people want you to. Paint what you want, and people will buy it. You don’t have to pander to every demographic because you’ll never appeal to everyone. “A game for everyone is a game for nobody”. SBI seems to think the universal solution is “you have to appeal to everyone ever”, and that’s the one guaranteed way to nuke your product.
Some of the best forms of media are things that are passion projects. FromSoftware games, Sam Raimi films, etc. “I’m having fun making my stuff. Oooh it found an audience!”.

Not only does Fromsoft cater to consumers to a real extent but they have been making the same kinds of things for a couple decades because they sell. Much of their passion is tempered by consumers. Their creations purely for wanting to and trying things is fairly rare. Particularly on a large scale.

Some people naturally make art that is in high demand, and some people figure out how to make things that other people want that they still enjoy making even if it wasn’t their original preference. And some people aren’t the former and will never do the later, so they can’t understand why those two groups find success while they don’t. @@goldmoutdog19 Yeah the whole "representation" argument is of course bollox, but it was a useful tool to swing at white people because they had a hard time really arguing against it and many would have thought it might possibly make sense. Since it is true that majority of western art involves mostly white people, since there's a fair few of them about and it just makes sense, but it also introduces this weak point to leverage because how would they know representation doesn't matter when they've always been represented? Gets you thinking and once you give them that inch they'll chew your arm off. .
The counter argument is of course that skin deep 'representation' doesn't matter as anyone can emphasize with a character that shares your values or struggles far more so than they can with just plain looks. Most people watching Bambi emphasizes and identifies with a deer! Dumbo lets you emphasize with an Elephant, but the crows were always my favorites in that movie. I think I've been told at some point they're racist though.

That's capitalism for you. When there is something your perceive as a problem, you have two options - talk about it or fix it. Fixing it does not allow you to talk about it anymore - so from the financial standpoint, it does not make much sense for you, does it? Not when talking about it can be a continuous source of income. Politicians don't solve a problem for the same reason - it is good to have talking points that you will promise to solve, but in most cases just juggle them around a bit, change the appearance of them, but never solve them.
That is why in modern capitalism no problem gets solved. It is simply more profitable to leave it there and then just talk about it. Activists are just the people who earn money from that concept. Politicians earn positions, which then earn them money.
It is not about narcissism, it is just about your wallet and what's best for it. Nothing else really. Pushing it to some higher level, them doing it for some idea - is giving them too much credit. It is purely a monetary thing.
The problem for her (and every corporation) is that us "picky babies" vote with our wallets. We are the potential paying customer. Offer us nothing and you will get nothing.

I’m a huge fan of sports. One of the things I enjoy about sports is that it’s performance based. There is not one major sport that has guidelines about who can be up for an award based on race. You are either voted MVP because you’re a great player or not. The players who are drafted first overall are selected because of their skill and their skill only. Players are never chosen because of race. The coaches and general managers don’t have the luxury of choosing based on anything other than skill. They can’t risk their jobs, just to get a pat on the back from their peers for choosing a player based on something as unimportant as what color the person is.

I'm a female gamer and she's talking crap. I have basically given up on new games because of people like her and live service games. The last game I was excited about was TOTK. As an Arkham fan, I'm really miffed at Rocksteady.

Gaming has just gone downhill in relation to games. It's sad to see the half baked messes they release nowadays. I really want a Soul Reaver remake, but I also don't because I have seen the state of the Silent Hill 2 remake.

I just rewatched the movie Batteries Not Included yesterday. The movie features a family of tiny space ship robots who enjoy repairing broken goods and struggle to find the power and raw materials needed to give birth to their new kin.
And I could relate to those little robots in ways I've not been able to in movies or shows for a long time.

Modern "politics" is Divide and Conquer, fighting left and right, and never looking up at who rules you.
But actual politics isn't even Left or Right anymore, it's center and periphery, ie an "in-group" and everyone else. The "in-group" is any narcissist and/or sociopath that's willing to lie and say whatever will benefit *them*.
Notice how the "ideology" isn't consistent, how smear campaigns attack seemingly random, unrelated things, well it's usually because there is a way to benefit, or a way to protect their gains.
(Obviously there IS a throughline regarding race and stuff, and that's the "Divide and Conquer" tactics as they trickle down from on top. An NGO like WEF, or Young Global Leaders, or the UN, in partnership with transnational corpos like Vanguard, Blackrock, etc., will come up with these decade long plans and force major corporations and corrupted, co-opted, politicians and governments, to employ their plans, and those trickle down to ANY narcissist or sociopath that sees the benefit of enforcing such plans.

Lately I've either been reading manga, books, watching old shows/movies and playing AA or indie games.

I'm reading books personally. Reading all things macabre is my thing, and Edgar Allan Poe still reigns supreme.

I have a HUGE notepad app boycott list and any time any person or company does something to get on it i write it down so i can control+F search people/entities before i monetarily support any product in case i forget who all my/societies' enemies are.
I know it sounds crazy but i just look at it like reading ingredients before i buy a food item. If it has anything i think is bad for me (or in the case of entertainment media, society in general) i will not purchase it.
I also use an add-on called uBlacklist for websites and any site pushing leftwing extremist ideology gets one click blocked from my search returns as well.
I do everything i can to ensure i can't ever get tricked or clickbaited into supporting garbage-people (and it's worth it, the internet is a great place now and i can laugh at all them while supporting like-minded based men and women with good morals/values).

There is just no way steeping my mind in that idiocy is any good for my brain, another Sun Tzu quote comes to mind here actually: “Even the finest sword plunged into salt water will eventually rust".
The way i see it is these people are ignorant cuz they live and operate in carefully curated echo chambers. I am a very understanding and open minded individual. I have endeavoured to see things from their point of view and am capable of playing devil's advocate and standing in another's shoes. There is no logical sense to their ideology. They are just wrong/evil.
What i'm doing may seem similar to how they operate but it is in no way even close to being the same. There's no way i'll ever play their game on their terms. There is no dialog or constructive conversation to be had (unlike if they were to come to me).
All they do is spin, gaslight, lie, moderate and censor. There is often no comments section, or it's turned off, or so disingenuously and meticulously curated it's just a waste of my time and would be playing right into their machiavellian hands.
They hold all the power in their little safe-spaces so the best thing to do is leave them all alone there (just like they are irl because they are so crazy/hateful/insufferable). Never help an enemy until after they've thoroughly demonstrates self-awareness, personal responsibility and capacity for change (and demonstrated as much).
I am an atheist but to use religious symbology they are the very personification of Mammon (greed/selfishness). That's what wokeness ultimately is, saying you're doing things for others that are really only for yourself. The only way to kill it is to starve it, drain it of it's lifeblood (money).

Its creeped into everywhere and it can be stopped by not giving them our hard eanred money and its tough times as it is, save that money up for a rainy day a house or something if the market gets better ever. It's gotten to the point that I will not see movies or buy anything that has a "diverse" main character because I want to be entertained and not lectured at.
It's understandable and also a shame, because there actually are talented actors that happen to check diversity boxes. Which brings us back to the oft-repeated (and oft-ignored by the grifters) point that while quotas are 'justified' by helping a group, they ultimately harm that group instead.
