Even tho we're just making the announcement now, Rob is actually kind of an OG on the team because when we saw him and connected with him, Primitive was under a year old, it was just me, Nick, Carlos and Bastien. Just four pros and one flow kid. We took him under our wing to help him progress and evolve in to what we believed he would become, and when I watch Rob skate now it’s hard to believe. He’s been with us on so many trips and skated so many demos with us, I think kids see him as part of the team already anyway. Paul Rodriguez is a good mentor. Never been controversial or a drugged out loser groping girls on tour videos. A class act. I'm glad he's influencing the next generation to make skateboarding last.

Dude is seriously good on a board, and HAS THE RIGHT MINDSET. I've known plenty of good cats turn to crime and get locked up when they had real talent on a board. Use your talents please! I had a friend, 13 when I met him could barely Ollie. Our group that skated was older around 16-18 and we sort of took him under our wing. Drove him to spots or to the park to skate, he came from a hard life, no dad mom was sick with cancer etc. Just a hard life. When he skated he was the happiest most fun dude to be around on and off the board. This kids style developed so fast and it seemed so easy for him that he started to outshine us the older guys. He had pop to the ceiling as well, everything tweaked it was nasty...but when he was around 18-19 he got locked up for 3 years for a B&E was all coked out etc. Prior he stopped hanging with us and started hanging out with the wrong people, no matter how hard we fought him on it. If he would've kept his head on straight or maybe we could've been harder on him he would be in a better place. He's out now but has to start over and he's a convicted felon..I feel really happy for this dude Robert, but sad as well because he reminds me of what my friend use to be like.

Met Robert, Kevin White, and Danta Hill yesterday at our local skate park in Sydney. They pulled up and shook everyones hands eye to eye , introducing themselves by name, and skated with us all day along. Super humble guys that really brought a lot of good energy and made everyone feel good about their skating regardless of what they're respective skill levels were. There's a new generation of guys on the come up that are very humble and grateful and I really commend them for being a good role model to the younger kids.

I love how he said when he started just having fun with skateboarding that's when he got onto the flow team. I think a lot more skaters and people in general need to take that mind-set.
Tbh, once you're that good and can land shit consistently skateboarding becomes a lot more fun compared to not landing anything.
It's a dilemma because being so hard on himself may have been what drove him to become so good, and what allowed him to transition to his eventual carefree amazing style.
A F true that - I think you can get good and have fun with it at the same time, but you're right that could of been what helped him develop into a consistent skater.
I got into skating cause its fun but it’s stressful cause i suck ass. I could go to the park all day and land an ollie of a 2 stair and thats all I’ll land for 6 hours
So true skate boarding shouldn't be taken seriously like all other physical activities it's a time to express yourself and just let go of all the negatives in life. It's to just have fun and learn new things that your body never knew it could do!
