It's Bruce Springsteen. I would go see the boss 15 nights in a row.

One of my favorite moments of a show was the very beginning when the lights went down and the band would enter the stage one by one. Then the deafening sound of the crowd screaming and the first few notes of an opening song...it always gave me goosebumps, like we were taking off on a wild ride with Bruce as the pilot.

I loved the crowd's reaction when Clarence Clemons emerged from the stage. Rest In Peace, Big Man; you were truly one of a kind.

just when you think it can't get any louder with Garry holding his ears the Big steps onstage and up another level they go..... and then Bruuuuce steps on.... well you can see the rest :) Nothing in the world like a Bruce & ESB show :) so glad I was at them :)

Bruce still feels to this day that "My Love Will Not Let You Down" should have been put on "Born In The USA."

@@1970borntorun It's not just OK. It's one of his best songs ever, and the greatest in studio performance in the history of the E Street Band of any song they have ever done. BITUSA was a commercially compromised sell out album to appease his manager and Columbia Records. He tossed away too many of the greatest songs he has ever written like Richfield Whistle, Sugarland, Murder Inc, Wages Of Sin, This Hard Land, etc. He could've made an album that was even better than BTR, Darkness and Nebraska and he blew it by listening to the wrong people. He admits in his book Songs that he feels BITUSA is one of his worst records. 75% of the fans who attended the shows and bought the LP just did so because it was the hip thing to do that summer. They were bandwagon fans. I hated the whole thing when the bootlegs started coming out.

This is my fave Boss song. This performance my fave. Reason I picked up a guitar was for a girl. The song I wish I wrote her was this.

This was a great opener because the tour was to support the "Tracks" box set, and more than any song on the box, Bruce expressed he deepest feelings for this song. He felt it was a massive mistake that he didn't include it on the Born In The USA album. He's mentioned this in numerous interviews. They still play it constantly. I have never liked the live version of "Roulette" because it will never match the intensity of the studio version which should have been released as a stand alone single in 1979 soon after the Three Mile accident. Even in 1988, Bruce couldn't get out the super fast pre-chorus lyrics with the level of passion that he did in the studio.....probably thru some technological trickery. The pre-chorus sections are super important because they vividly emote the man's frustrations.

Gotta disagree not the best opener but close. I was at Shea night #2 ..Roulette into Candys Room that was an incredible opener. Garry uses earplugs to hinder some of the crowd goin crazy. Thnk u so much for posting bc i remember being home in long island, no tixs n watchin vh one for this n so depressed after they cut away so thank u so much!!

I agree. Unless he was performing in dive bars, there's no way he could sell that many arena shows w/ how the economy is rightnow.

Awesome song. Although the DVD version of the song 'Live in New York City' is much better with 3 guitars at once (Nils, Steve and Bruce) instead of Clarence's sax. Love the big man of course but the sax doesn't work in this song. I used to blast this out of my stereo at top volume on a warm Sunday morning at top volume after a heavy nights partying on Saturday night.

C also played the sax that night but they just cut it off.. (it's really awesome live but the recorded rendition isn't really fine in comparison)

15 nights in a row.. haha. Not a chance those would sell in today's economy.
