    Thanks for the review. I been searching all morning for one that says the size and also the size of the person wearing it. Really helpful

    Plan to go to Yellowknife this December. I also have a McMurdo. Would that be enough or I need more mid layer ?

    so it is different in size from the Retro Nupste 96 models where the Size M feet well for 6.1 feets tall

    I have the Parka III with 600 Down, I am planning to go to Southern Patagonia in early February which is the summer over there. Do you think it may be too warm?

      Hi there, thanks so much for your query, and so exciting to hear of your upcoming Patagonia trip!
      The temperature in Southern Patagonia seems to be rather chilly at night, even in summer. This region is of course a high wind area as well, so we believe your Parka is definitely worth taking!

    How is the size. I am like 181 cm in height and weighs around 84 kg. I use M-L on normal jackets i dont like them loose as a tent

      The North Face runs true to size so we would recommend checking the size guide :-)

    how would you say this compares to competitors like arcteryx? Does it function the same when skiing like a gore tex hard shell arcteryx jacket would? even though arcteryx is twice the price?

    • @josephikrakowski334
      @josephikrakowski334 Před rokem +1

      Wouldn’t make an optimal ski jacket due to the oversized nature of it. It’ll be water proof/resistant but when it comes to ski functionality an arcteryx shell is going to always win out, much more versatile and great waterproofing

    Do you think this can sustain -10f (-20c) with 2 additional layers? (Thermal shirt, and a Wool Jacket)

    • @wildearthaustralia
      @wildearthaustralia  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Response from Jamie: "Depending on the quality and durability of the other 2 layers - Yes, it would keep you warm during physical activity, hiking etc, for a good 4,5 hours. I wouldn't recommend staying stationary in that level of cold though. I've worn it as a 4th layer in -24C while snowshoeing and it was warm. (Icebreaker thermal top, Tee shirt, Patagonia Better Sweater, Mcmurdo)."

    Do you happen to know if the McMurdo bomber jacket is the same as the parka in regards to warmth or is it more similar to the discontinued Gotham bomber

    • @wildearthaustralia
      @wildearthaustralia  Před rokem +7

      Hey @jmello1798, thanks for getting in touch! There's no technical difference between the McMurdo Bomber vs the Parka. It is more of a style preference as the Bomber is the classic bomber fit being a bit shorter and the Parka runs a little longer.
      The McMurdo and discontinued Gotham are very similar, the biggest difference is that the Gotham has 550 fill insulation vs the McMurdo which has 600 fill insulation. - hope that helps 🙂

    The review title refers to the jacket, you appear to be wearing the parka. It is 4 inches longer than the jacket, also I believe that the sleeves are different.

    Are they supposed to fit bigger? I tried a medium and it seemed a bit too ‘fitted’ so I got a large. The large has the right arm length, shoulder seams are aligned, length is right. But the side and back seem ‘roomy’

    So many parka reviews by people talking about rain. Parkas s/b what you switch to at -30. Slim and silhouette means no layering always a problem. Fur trim isn't functional as shown. ok. Learned enough. A parka for people who don't need a parka.

      Let’s be honest, it’s a jacket for people who walk around cities in the cold. Not an “outdoors” type jacket.

    • @robertfontaine3650
      @robertfontaine3650 Před 6 měsíci

      @@electricballs117 If global warming contiues we will be able to wear faux parkas too. Until then trying to find proper winter parkas will continue to be incredibly frustrating. It's easy to find $1500 parkas but there is no way in hell that a good winter parka should or needs to cost that much. When it is -40 outside there is no need for a fashion show.
