Method 1: do not be in the plane during the crash.
lol
Take a train
Ah. I see. I will remember to immediately jump out of the plane at the first sign of trouble.
Method 2: Fly no higher than three feet above ground and at speeds no higher than 25 mph. (Basic ultra-light.)

Kid, clearly nervous, on a flight once asked me, "How often do plans crash?"
Me: usually just once 🤙
LOL
On a flight back home from overseas to get out of the Navy, I was transferred to a civilian plane, and taken to the airport. While lining up to get on the plane, a lady who was clearly dealing with preflight jitters was asking if we'd for sure make it safely to Virginia. Everyone (me included) assured her that it was the safest means of travel and the airline in question was a reputable and long standing company (Delta I think?)...
SO we get to the podium where they take your ticket and punch it with the "used" doo-dah, and then rip off the stub, and she asks that gal, "Are you sure, we're going to make it down safely?"
To whit, the young woman smiled, and replied proudly, "Well, ma'am, we've never left anyone up there yet!" ;o)
HAhAH, I will keep that one, good at ya'
Plans can crash often although "planes" usually once 😂😂

5. Count the rows to the nearest em. exit

I had aerophobia when i was younger, and i can tell you the reason wasn't that i saw many articles about crashes, but rather it was because i simply felt that we are land animals and not birds, so we had no business in the air. Nowadays i wouldn't say i am afraid of flying, but i do get this anxiety feeling when in an airplane during the turbulence stage.
I think aerophobia is less about the crash and more about the combination of claustrophobia and fear of height, which are very common fears
Have the statistics of how safe it is helped you to be calmer? I'm asking cause I don't have this phobea. Also I guess facing your fear (flying more) reduces the anxiety bit by bit.
Lorazepam might aid in your onset fear. At least during flights.

came here to say this. I really feel ok on land but flying or sailing makes me feel at unease about the surface under my feet. Got used to flying after 100+ flights (took me less than 30-40 to become comfortable) but still a part of my brain activates panic when the plane starts to shake or dives a bit. Its about the trust you have when you know the land onder your feet doesnt move.
as someone who’s terrified of dying in a plane crash, i really appreciate the actual crash statistics 🤍
Wow, I never cease to find myself in awe by Thoughty2's dedication of going out there and filming everything.

You forgot to mention one of the more interesting and horrifying facts about Juliane'sordeal. When the plane broke apart, she was blown out the plane, still strapped in her seat and fell 3,000 meters. If I remember correctly, she was, thankfully, not quite conscious as she fell.

I was never scared of taking a plane in my life,

As a software developer I'm not amazed that the max crashed, I'm actually more amazed that it took so long before an accident happened.

Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise? I thought not. It’s not a story the Jedi would tell you. It’s a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life… He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself
Is it possible to learn this power?

I am related to Lt. Richard Sauffley who was the 14th US Navy flyer and the first Naval pilot shot at in combat in history fighting in the Mexican campaign in Veracruze and later killed in 1916 off Pensacola naval Air station and the base is partially named for him as Sauffley Field. These early pilots were extremely brave. His wife Helen O'Rear Sauffley was the first woman to fly over New York City.

Imagine that one guy who listened to that secret, survived the crash, but then remained in a vegetative state for life..
P.S. Why don't the airline companies put a small parachute under each seat, so that if the plane is about to crush, everyone eject and land on a tree or something..
Awful! Hurtling through the bowels of ANYTHING is bad enough, but this is insult to injury!
Well, because according to wikipedia a T-10 parachute weights about 14kg multiply it by the amount of seats of let say a Boeing 737-800: 189 (14kg x 189 seats = 2646kg) which would severly impact the amount of baggage you can take or even the number of passangers.
Let's not count in the Parachute Deployment system for each chair, a roof retracting system that would allow chairs to be ejected. And for the last part, the placement of the parachute wouldn't be too good for everyone - center of mass would differ because of the weight of a passanger being ejected. Also imagine launching 189 seats with parachutes at once, that would be a hella big spaghetti with pillows flying around..
@@yoggoh380 Like for the calculation (:
@@yoggoh380 i would renounce carry on for parachute
@@yoggoh380 how about the roof and walls are jettisoned and then the floor and chairs as one piece are slowly and safely parachuted to the ground

My dad had life long phobia of flying. In 1994 I was in national guard. Spent two weeks at plane crash site cleaning up and sorting body parts. In 2004, my aunt, dad's sister, died in a plane crash. I've been affected by plane crashes in an unusually higher than normal odds. 😭
Isn’t your aunts dad your grandad
Technically, her mother also survived the crash, but sadly died after a while from her wounds. Juliana's survival was not easy, to say the least. Poor girl.
Put simply: if you live to be eighty, if you took one flight every day of your life, you would have less than a .01 percent chance of being involved in a fatal plane crash. (But over a 70 increased percent fatal case of cancer due to solar and cosmological radiation.)

How is Aerophobia by any means an "irrational" fear of flying? I can easily rationalize the threat to life and limb of humans flying around in 367 tons of steel and fiberglass at 31,000 ft
Mostly aluminum and carbon fiber actually.

I was on a plane from Dallas to Boise back in 03, as it was taking off, one of the four engines blew out, it was like being on a bus that hits a massive pot hole with a bang and jolt. Pilot was like "meh, whatever" and continued with the flight with three engines, we got to Boise safe and sound though the landing was hard and my sleeping friend was woke up with a slam nearly eating the seat in front. Lady pilot was really nice.
what about everyone getting a parachute and in flight instructions they just tell you in case of evacuation order everyone jumps, u wait 5 seconds and pull the cord? Still more chance of surviving then 400mph landing. Of course there are dangers of people opening evacuation doors for no real reason, too much rushing at the doors, plane loosing even more control because turbulence from open doors, likely dangling of the parachute cords of all hundreds of people when jumping at once etc. But its kinda better than certain death still, no? I saw an idea circling around internet about possible passenger capsules being a separate part of the plane that can be detached from the rest of the plane and has some huge parachutes to then land the big pod safely, of course there are the dangers of the pod itself getting damaged before that but also a good idea I guess, I hope it gets common for all airplanes soon enough.
Vast majority of crashes happen during landing. There's no way you can reasonably expect the average passenger to be able to use a parachute. On top of that being able to open a door when a plane is experiencing turbulence. If a plane is experiencing difficulty then it can emergency land in the sea where most people will be able to figure out how to put on and use a life jacket, or a field.
I don't think you can harness everyone up effectively. If you're not familiar with them, they can be difficult to figure out.
Did you notice, Thoughty2 doesn't explain what Juliana Koepcke said about how she came out of the crashed plane. The plane had broken into pieces about two miles above the ground and she was outside the plane but still attached to her seat. the plane had broken into pieces about two miles above the ground. Experts point to the fact that she was harnessed into her plane seat during her frightening descent. The seat, they theorize, must have caught the air, slowing her fall in much the way that a parachute would.
His mustache keeps me coming back... and the informational videos, but mainly the mustache.
I was flying the other day and idk why I suddenly had anxiety about flying for no good reason, never happened to me before and after watching this, hope it never happens again. Thanks 42 !

Man, gotta draw the line at promoting Raid. The games a scam, there is no way you play it.
They probably pay him a lot of money for it
Minor correction- the Wright brothers were the first to perform a manned, powered flight. Powered and manned were both separately done long before.
Thoughty2, some of the jokes in this one had me shaking my head so much I wanted to give you a good slap to the face.
well we've eliminated that issue in 2020 now haven't we?
Many aviation accidents are caused when pilots misread flight equipment, misjudge weather conditions or fail to properly address mechanical errors. Pilot error is considered the number one reason why planes crash👍
funny how it's the same with cars lorries and buses, it's the driver that usually causes the crash , no "accident"
Thats why planes might be fully autonomous in the future maybe even before cars.
Besides they are over 70-80% autonomous already!
Just like security breaches, usually user error... AI is going to get a big ego when it realized how unreliable we are lol 🤭
@@maywindslow6377 AI that controls a autonomous plane or a car will never come close to gaining sentience😎😎
