    Macquarie University has certainly transformed over the years....was studying there in the late 80s and parking then was ample! The area that looked exactly the same was Wally's Walk(?)...the sight of the maple trees in autumn was breathtaking! Thanks for bringing back fond memories of my student days! Really miss the place!

      Glad to oblige!
      A lot has changed, as you say. That beautiful student courtyard of trees in front of the student union had to be demolished because the trees were dropping branches. Can’t wait to see what they build there! It wasn’t finished last time I was there...

      @@minoljayalath6539 I do enjoy macquarie and do think they have great facilities. I’m currently in my third year of a Bachelor of Business Admin. I really like how they have set up the business faculty, but I would say please take into account which degree you want to do. As though Macquarie is a great university, there might be other universities which perform better in your desired course. I do think macquarie offers great social activities and community which is an added bonus.

    • @Likkivi
      @Likkivi Před 3 lety

      @@ChoosingYourUni I am from Denmark and already have a master's degree in innovation and entrepreneurship with a bachelor's in interactive media. I've been abroad for 4 semesters during my studies with internships and exchange so maybe it's somewhat of an addictive motivation ;)
      Well my self-idealized purpose is threefold:
      1: My girlfriend is likely to study in Australia next year
      2: I find that I lack some applied skills within IT/analytics to execute on tasks in marketing, user experience design, and management
      3: I am quite keen on seeking long term permanent employment in Australia
      My heart is set on UQ tbh, but it is for more sentimental reasons. They do however have an IT GDip with flexibile options unlike QUT for instance. Go8 is more expensive but having been at 2 other Aussie unis I'd really like to round off at one of the "flagships".

    • @ChoosingYourUni
      @ChoosingYourUni  Před 3 lety

      Interesting. Where did you do your 4 semesters abroad?

    • @Likkivi
      @Likkivi Před 3 lety

      @@ChoosingYourUni Australia twice, Singapore and Norway. Although I can see from the visa rules that a GDip doesn't put me in a special position for a graduate visa - so I will perhaps look at alternatives.
      Do you know why doing a study abroad at Australian unis is remarkably cheaper than being a matriculated student on a semester basis?

    • @ChoosingYourUni
      @ChoosingYourUni  Před 3 lety +1

      Market dynamics is the only reason. Unis compete for study abroad students with price being one driver. They would also say that there’s less work involved because there’s no award being provided in the end (so less staff time committed to academic advising, checking you’ve met degree requirements, less use of facilities etc).

      Hi Aarav,
      There are lots of unis that meet your criteria but I’d probably look at RMIT, Monash, UQ, UTS and USYD.
      Right now, if you’re willing and able to start studying online it’s a good time to apply. Onshore student numbers are lower but are expected to pick up quite a bit from next year - so apply sooner than later Id say!
      What are they looking for?
      Grades, yes. But also anything else that you can show that helps demonstrate why you’re a good fit for them. That could be extracurricular activities, community engagement or volunteering, sports skills etc.

    Hi Rob ! I've two offers respectively from USC (bachelor of animal ecology) at the Fraser coast campus and UNE (bachelor of environmental science) at the Armidale campus. It's really a tough call for me, do you have any information to share about these options ?

    • @ChoosingYourUni
      @ChoosingYourUni  Před 4 lety +1

      Oooo, that’s two good options.
      I’d give some thought to two things:
      1. What kind of environments are you most interested in?
      USC is closer to the coast. UNE is inland.
      2. What kind of overall experience are you looking for?
      UNE is going to be a completely unique, classic Australian experience: country town, friendly locals, kangaroos on campus. Like that.
      USC is going to be more a beachside experience - if you like warm weather and the beach, this will be a good choice!

Which place would you advise between Lismore and Harvey bay all things considered, besides the weather which I think is more similar ? Furthermore, can you also give me your opinion about the differences between these two kind of degrees ( I’d prefer a work more on the field rather than on the office ).

    • @ChoosingYourUni
      @ChoosingYourUni  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Marco - sorry for the long delay in replying.
      SCU Lismore is a great uni for envi sci. Lismore is a cool community (albeit quite small) and the university is very friendly and inclusive.
      Lismore isn't on the coast, but it's only 20-30 miles away from Byron Bay, so if you like camping and getting outdoors, you'll be close to the beach.
      Here are two vlogs I filmed in the region:
      czcams.com/video/JIcVlUrO3kw/video.html - Brunswick Heads
      czcams.com/video/BVkv3hAML0k/video.html - Byron Bay
      Harvey Bay is very small. The campus there is also small. If you're hoping for an on-campus experience, Lismore is probably a better bet.

      In this case I’d say yes, it is worth the investment, but with an important caveat.
      You should choose a uni that has a strong design or fashion section in addition to a strong business program.
      That’s because one of the valuable parts of Uni is the people you meet and connection you make.
      A general business course at most unis will give you the basics. But you’ve got a specific idea in mind so should go after a specific outcome.
      That outcome should be getting to know as many people who work in fashion and design while you’re at uni.
