I'm back on campus at Monash University but... I'm feeling nervous. Every time I walk around a corner, I'm expecting trouble. It's strange to be strolling around one of Australia's nicest campuses, one of its most reputable universities, and to be feeling uncomfortable about it. But I have a good reason for my discomfort and I'll tell you that story as we walk around campus! In this video we're...

Did post grad at uts which was real life experience too. Glad i choose these two. I think people need to research there profession and discipiline of study to make the best choice.

I've got offer from Monash (Master of Business Information System, waiting for scholarship) and UTS (Master of Information Technology with scholarship of 30%), which uni do you think better, specially in IT and job opportunities? Hope to hear your advice! Thank you!

    • @ChoosingYourUni
      @ChoosingYourUni Před 16 hodinami

      Both of those are super solid options academically. Sydney/Melbourne are quite different cities and the study experience will be different: UTS an inner city location that flows seamlessly from uni to city. Monash, an incredible campus with tonnes of clubs, facilities and campus vibes. Both have good industry linkages, so either is a strong choice imo

    Hello Rob, I'm a year 12 VCE student looking to specialise in civil engineering and with VTAC applications being recently opened, I've found myself in a tough situation! I was certain I was going to choose Unimelb to take an engineering graduate degree package, but after reading about 2-3 people's experiences at Unimelb, I was left apathetic. Hence, my preferences have opened to either Unimelb, Monash or RMIT: Unimelb being prestigious, rigorous and theoretical in its curriculum but takes 5 years to become a fully accredited engineer, more likely to have like-minded colleagues and a 5-7 min walk away from where I live; RMIT being more hands-on, less prestigious and easier; and Monash being in between, having more industry connections, takes 4 years to become a fully accredited civil engineer, but 1 hour away excluding potential traffic delays. AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! sorry mood swing. Please give me your words of wisdom :))

    • @ChoosingYourUni
      @ChoosingYourUni Před 12 dny

      I can see the conundrum! Not sure where you read the reviews but if it was on University Reviews I wouldn't pay too much notice - heaps of negativity on that site imo. You should make your choice based on the strengths that align with your interests and goals. UniMelb is a kick arse uni with a killer social life and top academic programs and reputation. If you start there, and discover it's not what you expected, you can always transfer to RMIT or Monash - you'd likely find a lot of first year credit should transfer. Honestly, 5 years vs 4 years is meaningless at your age. You've got plenty of time on your side. An extra year to me means a more rounded education, more time to get the most out of uni and more time to hone in on your specific interests. An extra year is not a negative. All three of these unis are great. You've only read about 2-3 experiences, not 200. If Melb is close and you like the looks of it, start there.

    Hi, I am a graduate of The University of Western Australia, Nedlands Campus. I had graduated in July 2023 as a Master of Architecture with specialization in BIM. Started my degree on Feb 2021 during the COVID-19 lockdown and was not able to travel to WA for my studies but did my degree online paying the same high fees for international students. My experience in the first semester was not good as I was singled out for discrimination by a professor in my Architecture Studio unit. A professor named Emiliano Roia was not happy with my design and he accused me of wasting his time and abused me infront of the entire batch saying that he would not allow me to pass the entire semester. This continued for 3 months and gave me trauma and stress. The professor would literally comolete the design for local Australian students if they have doubts but would ignore the requests of Chinese and often Indian students. Had a particular bias to students of Indian origin. Nevertheless, I managed to pass and graduate from this University. I had noticed that in my final semester a professor who was an ex-student of Emiliano showed the same racist bias to international students of Indian/Pakistani origin for example during studio sessions he would not review Indian students work even if they were sitting across him and would call all South Aisan students after explaining the brief to see if we can understand what he is saying as if we are small kids who need babysitting. I have noticed this racism and condescension is directed at South Asians, Africans and sometimes Chinese but mostly towards people of dark skin color in Australia. This is usually perpetrated by professors who follow the left-wing political ideology who belive that non-white students are inferior, uncultured and need to be taught and civilized as if we are not individuals who can think, act and plan our own future. Need to say that the University is dominated by political left wing and most professors, studnet guild members are left wing. They mock Christian students and biblical beliefs to make them look stupid and inferior. If you are a darker skinned individual with Christian beliefs expect more racism from staff and faculty. There are no career fairs and do not expect to find a job after graduation especially if you are an international student. Most of your classmates will be from China and other East Asian countries and they will be incredibly smart, hardworking, kind and helpful. There are few Indians and Pakistani and some Australians but most of your classmates will be from China and East Asia and it was a privilege to study with such incredibly smart and intelligent people.

      Domestic postgrad is almost all fee paying, except priority areas like health and education. Not sure about fine art. FEE-HELP is available to help pay, but it’s deferred onto tax. Bummed to hear UoN doesn’t offer fine arts anymore, that was a good program.
