  • This describes how to dismantle the gas heating components, and how I resolved the problem I had on my water heater.
    I had a intermittent problem of the gas igniting ok, but then the gas switched off after an 8 second timeout, and the red Error light on the switch would glow.

    Brian, I feel I owe you a beer, send me some details, and I will in receipt send you some. I have spent many an hour trying to measure the rectification element created by the flame, cleaning the burner, and even cleaning out the jet, without ever having removing the jet. Removing the jet uncovered debris, and loosening the burner unit so I could adjust the distance between the jet and the orifice on the burner has just saved me a small fortune. I really didn't realise the jet could be separated! Thank you so much.

    Wow. I’m surprised I haven’t seen this video before as I’ve had to fix my Cascade a couple of times for other reasons.
    Really well presented and it’s nice to see someone including technical explanations whilst keeping the ‘how to’ aspects simple.
    Good Stuff.

    Just fixed mine,water in the plastic tray under the pcp board. The solder seems to have been jutting down under the board a touch the water ,also the plastic enclosure was being clamped by the heater casting,so clamping the plastic enclosure. just filed the casting now able to withdraw the unit from the side,and no clamping problems on the electronics. Every thing now works,this video was a great help. Many thanks.

    Brian, Thanks so much for that. I am having the same problem. as i live in New Zealand and own an otherwise excellent English caravan I have been at a loss. i have asked various 'van sales and repair firms here on how to rectify this annoying problem.
    not surprisingly they are all reluctant to share the process you have described. they of course either want to do the job themselves or sell me a brand new module at a king's ransom price.
    You have helped enormously.
    Cheers,
    Roger T. (one grateful Kiwi)

    I had the same problem. It was caused by corrosion deposits from the alloy casing covering the burner.
    Cleaned them out and rubbed down the casing and sprayed with stove black paint. The screws for the stainless panel behind the burner sheared off on removal. I fitted a jubilee clip on the drain plug pipe to keep the panel secure.

    Well made descriptive video and very clear photography too. I looked at primarily for the "how to remove" bit as my burner needs renovating. Would have liked to see the "difficult to see" screws holding the gas valve in......maybe some white arrows pointing to their location?!!

    hi, can you tell me where the main waterfeed go's into the cascade 2, i built a campervan 2 yrs ago and never bothered connecting it up, theres two pipe connections on the back of it on the right side, i have cold and hot pipes run up beside it from the sinkl but where is the feed from the watertank and pump go too? thanks, Paul

  • @davehogg2420
    @davehogg2420 Před 7 lety

    I done the same, Thanks Brian.
    I do have a problem though... Instead of shutting off,, the burner stays on for a minute, then shuts off for around 1.5 mins, then starts up again,
    This continues in this manner, not heating the water.
    Left in this mode for 2 hours, water not even luke warm, Any ideas ?

    • @yansolty
      @yansolty Před 5 lety

      More than likely you have a draft that is blowing the heat onto the thermistor and is getting too hot, then shutting off. If this isn't the case then the thermistor housing may be crooked and picking up heat from the flame.
      If it was a flame detection problem it would shut off between 7-10 seconds.

    I have a problem with actually removing the assembly, the bit that occurs at approx 2mins 25secs into the video.Its loose but the box inside seems to big to come through the hole. Any suggestions

    • @brianplummer3976
      @brianplummer3976 Před 9 lety

      It may be the lid of the plastic box that holds the PCB. If the lid was not properly closed, it may be catching on the top of the housing. The lid is hinged on the left side of the box, maybe you can slid something thin between the lid and the housing to push the lid down, as you pull the unit out.

    on my spark electrode the porcelain is cracked and broken, will it still work?

    • @yansolty
      @yansolty Před 5 lety

      It may do, but not all the time. If the ceramic housing is cracked the spark may track to elsewhere, we repair and service the Cascade burner modules and we see a lot of units come to us and the reason for not working is cracked ceramic housings.
      Also flame detection problems as described.
