What PC are you looking to build or upgrade? What PSU's are you considering or did you buy?
Just wanted to drop in and say thanks for the promo code. Picked up a Win10 Pro OEM key the other day.
Hey Jason, how about this Deal & this Brand?? Any info/comment whether or not It's Worth Buying: AZZA PSAZ-850G ATX 3.0 850 W ATX / ATX (ATX 3.0 Compatible) 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply. Price: $99.99 $69.99 after $30.00 rebate. I'm currently running the 550 Watt Model in my 2nd PC, for over 1 year without any Issues.
Built a PC this past December after a few months of gathering parts and went with a Corsair RMe 1000 which is probably overkill for the 7800x3d/7900 xt combo. Was relieved to see it pretty well rated on the Cultists List you've referenced at least. Thanks for the content, too, watched and learned a lot from you in the run-up to building the PC and have been hooked on PC hardware content since
I'm building a 4070ti super with a Intel i9 13900k
the psu cultist list really is one of the most important pieces of pc knowledge
Agreed!
@PCBuilderChannel I ordered the Super Flower Leadex VII XG 1300W. Gold. Saw it as a tier on the psu cultist list. It was on sale for 189.99. Is this a good psu? Iyo
@@SupremeJarJar its good
Its A Tier ofc its good :)
@@SupremeJarJar
The list is outdated. Last update was about 1 year
As I understood the Cultist list, the difference between A-tir and B-tir is that A-tir has thermal protection. And that's why power supplies are 50 euros more expensive in the A tier.
If the air intake in the power supply is separate from the space where your processor and graphics card are(for example, your power supply is on the lower part of the case and sucks air from the outside), then you can freely buy a B-tier. Because the temperature of the processor and graphics card will not affect the temperature of the power supply.
this video came out at just the right time!! slowly ordering all my parts for my first ever gaming pc and the PSU is one of the few parts I haven’t fully decided on yet
Love it when the timing is good!
What are your parts?
Same here. I just ordered a white nxtz h9, I'm stuck on which motherboard and cpu to get to match a 4080 oc.
@@MrAnimescrazy I’ve got the RTX 4070 and an i5-13400f, 16gb RAM from Corsair and will be ordering a b760 mobo next. Really only deciding on the PSU, SSD and monitor right now
@@prfinest07 are you leaning towards AMD oder Intel?
I swear, every time I'm in the market for a component, you have a video on it that week. The concise, easy-to-understand, and up-to-date information is always appreciated!

Love it when the timing is good! So glad we could help!
Doing a entry busget build for my sister this summer and your videos always come in clutch and refresh me on all the good deals and current market standings of parts - thank you a ton - keep it up!
You're so welcome! And love to hear it, good luck with planning for the build. Feel free to check out some of our Best Builds videos for more :)
Ty jason for the vids! I come back to your older guides so I could remember some of the knowledge you share. Now I could come back to this one for PSUs. Thanks so much
So glad they are helpful!! Thanks for letting me know it means a lot
The DeepCool PN-M and PN-D power supplies are coming with ATX 3.1 compatible.
The PX-G and PX-P units are A tier and are ATX 3.0 compliant at a great price!
Always informative and thank you for also providing recommendations.
Glad you like them!

You make a lot of great videos. But this one really educates people who do not know. And this is one of the most if not the most important part to a pc. Thank you Jason again for these.
So glad they are helpful! Thanks for the feedback it means a lot
Liked n watched the whole video and ads too.

Great vid! also helped me make a decision going to do a tad more research before puling the trigger on the super flow option. hope all is well thanks for all you do
Glad I could help!
I bought a really well tested and reviewed PSU. It was one of the best rated 1200w ATX 3.0 PSU’s on the PSU Cultist List. Unfortunately, the cables are terrible. They have really hard plastic sleeves that run almost right up to the connectors. I almost all the cables are way longer than they need to be, with tons of redundant leads. I basically had to throw cable management out the window and just shove cables in any nook and cranny I could find. If I had it to do over again, I’d buy a Seasonic/Phanteks, Corsair, Asus or EVGA. These are the only makers that seem to have readily available aftermarket cable replacements. Otherwise you’ll have to custom order or fab your own if the cable included don’t fit your case or fail.
sounds like a power supply ideal for a full tower case.
@@alexb.1320 Even on a larger case a lot of these issues would remain. For example, all the connectors are right up against a very stiff vinyl sleeve that is almost 3” long. So all the returns have to protrude out about 4-5” before routing to the back of the case. If you used extensions you’d probably have an unruly amount of cable length behind the case. It’s honestly kind of shocking that the designers clearly never tried to build a PC with the provided cable before signing off on the design, the cables are objectively a poor design.
The crazy thing is that everybody just accepts the lie that PSU makers won’t adopt a cable standard to “protect consumers from damaging their components”. It’s really just engineered obsolescence. If a cable fails or gets lost, then you need a whole new PSU. There’s already a standard for the component side. No reason not to do the same on the PSU side. An 8,6, or 4 pin CPU connector won’t physically fit an 8,6, or 4 pin GPU connector. If they all used the same connections consumers would have a million affordable options for cables. Right now, expensive bespoke cables from Cable Mod are the only option besides the DIY route.
Just in time to upgrade psu, great video like always
Thank you! So glad the timing is good
I bought a 1000w PSU a few years ago, knowing I would be upgrading to a power hungry GPU one day. Glad I did!
Thinking ahead!
What are your specs?
You'd need a 4090 with some kind of OCd intel cpu to need that much power
@rodiculous9464 not exactly true given common advice is to try to size ur psu to only run about 2/3s of its max output so as to not run it flat out all the time... leave some headroom if you will
I have been waiting for this video, amazing work thank you
Hope its helpful!

This channel has been invaluable! I'm new to building, and I had felt extremely overwhelmed in trying to research what I should pair with what. I found this and BOOM! Piece👏of👏mind👏
I'm so thankful for all of your recommendations. The PCU was the final piece to my budget build and I was skeptical of my MSI MAG A550 selection and once again as in every single video you just have great info and I feel confident in what I have put together. Big big thank you!!
You read my mind brother. I was just wondering if you were going to do a 2024 PSU video. Thank you.
We got you!! Hope you are having a great weekend Savage!
Great Video Jason it's been awhile since I built a PC but with your vids I am getting back up to speed. I am not sure what cpu/gpu cpu/gpu but thx to your videos I am getting back up to speed. I am leaning hard towards AMD for both. Thank you for all you and Sarah do and the kitties!
What is your budget?
So glad we can help Rand! Sarah and the kitties say hello
Doing a completely new build and was wondering what I should buy. The list corresponded to my pick. A+, thanks for teaching me about it

@@PCBuilderChannel i'll share it sometime soon, would love for you to rip it apart on your channel 🤣

Hey thank you! I appreciate it
Hi Jason,other brands to consider:
Seasonic,
FSP Fortron Hydro
Chieftec
Yes! Lots more good PSUs out there, this is just a list of the most competitive priced ones at the US market at time of filming. But I'll keep the links in the description updated as prices change
Honestly these videos are very informative, not just in what you should pick but also in how these psu’s work
Glad its helpful!! Thanks for the feedback it means a lot
The MSI MPG A1000G is really good. Got this over a Corsair unit and very happy with it
I would also recommend looking at reviews at hardware busters for power supplys. This guy used to do the power supply reviews for tech power up. He is held in high regard in the tech community.
Good tip!
amazing video Jason thanks a lot for information. I am still scared to get a new psu just because I might mess up which cable goes where xD Even though I know by watching multiple videos, still not confident enough to try :)
Thanks! Just remember to remove the old cables if the PSU was modular. Don't mix and match PSU cables!
I bought a thermaltake bronze psu 12 years ago that lasted me until now, still going strong. Building a new pc hoping I can get something as reliable as that.
What is your budget for your new pc?
Good video as always.
The ADATA XPG Core Reactor II 850W and 1000W GPUs also seems like really good options due to their $99 and $129 Prices and 10 Year Warranties.
Pretty much mine got 850 and i feel like i can move anything with that.
Thanks Ty!
This is coming at the perfect time, about to pick my PSU for new build!
What are your specs?
So glad we can help!
@@MrAnimescrazy 12600kf and 7900 gre. Ended up going with be quiet 12 850W.
I would agree with comments about the Corsair RMe ATX 3.0 fans. I have the RM1000e and the fan constantly stop/starts with a 'soft buzz' noise even at idle! Not recommended as the could be distracting for you.
Further to this I have rotated the PSU (fan up) and placed a fan directly above as an assist. I'm sure the PSU fan starts but I can't hear it.
Thanks for sharing!
My PSU is an Antec Titanium 1000w (Seasonic), been using Seasonic for years, but got a special deal on the Antec..
Never cheap out on your PSU..
I just got the Thermaltake GF3 1350W, two things to note are that the fan is quite noisy when it does kick on and the 12VHP cable is pretty short (my case being a 4000D) but other that those it works pretty well
I was literally looking at a new psu last night and then wake up to see this video, great timing
Love it when we get the timing right!
just what i need, nice timing
Love it when the timing is good!
Just picked up a Corsair SF1000L to replace a Cooler Master 750w unit. My 6950XT was giving coil whine with the 750w, but is quiet with the 1000w. Got the 1000w SFX PSU for $110 on sale. It comes with the ATX bracket, so works fine in my O11 Vision. Just budget some extensions if you go this route, as SFX cables are short. Good job kn the breakdown of PSUs. Everyone should see this
Thank you!
The MSI MAG A750GL is not on the PSU cultist tier list like stated in the video. The one that is in the speculative section of Tier A is the MSI MPG A-G series.
Thanks Jason just got my windows 10 pro for $16usd 🙏🏾 and I built my pc yesterday with that thermaltake gf3 750w
Awesome!!
User of the Seasonic Vertex 1200w PSU , no problem to power my rig! (Ryzen 5900x , Rx7900XT , 32 GB Gskill Trident RGB , 8x Lian Li ARGB case vents , x570S Gigabyte Aorus Elite mobo , 1 SB Creative Z , 2x NVME SSD , 3 SSD 1TB , 1 HDD 2TB , 1 cooler processor NZXT Kraken x62 , many USB devices...)
Great video!
Any white psu recommendation?
(1000w mAtx or itx)
There are Thermaltake, corsair, deepcool, phanteks, asus, gigabyte, msi, super flower, cooler master, silverstone, antec, seasonic. They all have white power supplies.
Man, i hope they keep on testing more PSU and update the PSU Cultist list, there are some PSU which are cheap but couldnt find it in their listing, making doubt of buying them in the first place
Yes it would be nice to get an update! In the meantime we are searching for individual reviews the old fashioned way gerrrr
Yeah I don’t use the 80 plus rating anymore either. Instead I use the PSU cultist list and the Cybernetics PSU rating system. Cybernetics does more testing on the PSU and they use validated electrical engineers to rate them by efficiency based on either the 115 or 230 volt system and noise level.
For example the Corsair RM750e ATX 3.0 at 115 volt received the Cybernetics Platinum rating and A - for noise level.
At 230 volts it received the Cybernetics Gold rating and A - for noise level
You can pretty much have one answer: buy a seasonic of the right size. It may cost more, but a good PSU will last you through several MB/Videocards/CPUs. A bad PSU will risk killing them. You are better getting a GOOD PSU and spending money on it because it is one component that longterm can pay for itself. A good PSU, a good case? You can reuse for a LONG time.
Hey dude if you could help me out really quick, do I buy the Seasonic Focus V3 GX-850 or the MSI MAG A850GL PCIE 5. Just your personal opinion I can’t decide myself
@@ghollz8488 Maybe others are different, but I gave up on the MSI PSUs, we had a run of a few that did not work correctly. But YMMV
@@ghollz8488 We have had good luck with the Asus and Lian Li so far, though.
When it comes to PSUs. I always go with SeaSonic. That warranty they offer is amazing, and other brands use their units, like Corsair.
And I always make sure my power requirements, are at 50% to 60% of the PSUs make power. Because I've been told that PSUs are most efficient in that range of their power.
Great! I just bought one! Of course... A Cooler Master MWE gold V2 850w fully modular.
Nice!
@@PCBuilderChannel so is that a decent one?
Snagged a super flower 1000w titanium last year for $239 USD, I think, for my main rig before it shot back up past $300. It had all the new new standards attached. Moral of the story is watch that favorites list on PC Part Picker and the market like a Hawk lol
When I bought my 7900xtx nitro+ I wasnt sure if my Seasonic 850W PSU would fit because it only had 2 8-pin GPU power connectors with a 6+2- pin connector attached to each 8 pin cable, so the 3 8-pin slots were powered by basically 2 cables only. I contacted Seasonic and they recommended to get a unit with 3 8-pin connectors. I still took a shot (trusting Seasonics quality) and my pc shut down the moment I loaded up Cyberpunk 2077 :) . For the time being I undervolted the 7900xtx just so I could use my PSU and I ordered a new unit (power cables ran fairly warm, so this is not recommended!, but I have excellent air flow in my Fractal torrent). This time it was the Corsair RM1000x with 3 seperate 8-pin cables and it works totally fine. I heard the X- version has no fan issues so I went for that one instead of the E- version. And my unit is silent and works perfectly even on the highest power draws I can pull off.
Always invest in a good and proper PSU. Id even say the PSU is the most important PC part.
So basically you're running a 1000w psu?
Thanks PC Builder...
Kept me from making a bad purchase from a SI after referencing the PSU Cultist List. They seem to only offer lower-tier PSU's for their $2000.00 plus custom build component selections.
So glad we could help!
Im surprised there are no seasonic psu ive had a great experience with them
There's a lot of good units. The ones I've highlighted are priced well in the US market at the time of filming for their quality.
@@PCBuilderChannel Thank you for the explanation.
No problem!
L M A O is crazy that you would upload this and put the link to that PSU tier list! Not because it's wrong, it's just funny. I had been researching stuff to build my gf her first PC with what I could find and within her given budget (out country laws and economy isn't great, also not good for availability) and found through several posts that PSU tier list which was already a year old but I thought it would do. One of the Tier C (I feel that is good enough considering with what we deal here generally PLUS the electricity as a whole which is whack) was affordable enough and I was like "Oh! Look I found something quite good that won't break your bank!" (in fact at around the same price there's a Cougar GEC 750 as well, new) using that list, only to find that my current PSU is F tier replace immediately, lol!
I've been finding stores that sell used stuff, so I am planning in 1 or 2 weeks, if possible doing an upgrade with used parts if I can, get a 6600 XT (going from an RX 580 I think that is completely fine, especially it's 70 dollars less than the used 6700 XT which was my initial aim and I also am on 1080p so the 6700XT might not be a need), an AsRock Steel Legend B450 and the main topic of this video, a Seasonic Focus GM 750 or an XPG Core Reactor 850, which looking at it again right now is 10 dollars less. I guess I put in the Seasonic because is a brand I've heard on TechTube the most and not as much for XPG, despite the tier list.
All that said, my current Ttake SmartRGB is there because out of the 3 PSU I could buy at the time, to replace my old Ttake NR2 which unbeknownst to me, it was an open box purchase that lasted 8 years+! with HEAVY use, heat, dust and shotty electricity. It only made sense for me to go with the same brand again. Needless to say that it's been around 3 years now, maybe? And I haven't had any issues. In fact I bought a new case and an AK400 Zero Dark from DeepCool, the processor and RAM are OCd right now to 4.1Ghz@1.3v and 3200MhzCl16 @ 1.35v and it's stable to the best of my knowledge on OCCT and cinebench + games I play. That said, like I said I have a 580 so it doesn't draw much power, and thinking on upgrading the PSU, I thought why not spend a bit more and switch also the PSU just in case and the MoBo so I can later add an M.2 and maybe at some point next month upgrade to a 5600-5700 if possible (currently have a 2600).
So all in all, it is clear that PSUs sometimes despite the brands and quality build is a coin flip, with better quality/brands having much less % of bad things happening, even if it could. Thankfully I've never had bad experiences with these, but I also never mismatched components or overloaded the system with components that exceeded the potency of the PSU in use.
Amazing video! Very well put together, explained everything and it's great information easy enough to digest. Thank you!
Alternatives to the MSI and Apevia depending on your market: Cougar GECs and Corsair CVs (650 and 750) are also C tier or better, so if the prices of those aren't insane, those are good choices too, according to PSU Tier List.
What will be your gf's specs for her pc?
So glad we can help!
@@MrAnimescrazy Well, we hovered the idea of a 5600G (or 5700G if she wanted to stretch out) and an overall mid quality build so she could be up and running due to GPU prices being literally insane for bad performance (1650s and the likes are the most affordable which is stupid because it'd be wasting too much money for something barely usable in general).
We did more searching and we landed on the idea of an i3 12100F and a low GPU which was good enough for her (16Gbs ram @ 3200Mhz on both occasions). I spoke to her and decided that if I buy used parts and they don't steal my money, I could send her my PSU and GPU (580) which would be good enough and better than anything she could afford new right now. And then maybe eventually in the future if needed she can buy one of those things but gives her time to get the money for it.
Love my corsair rm850e. People will tell scary stories about a noisy fan. I game for hours in silence. I have the rm850x too. only difference is a bigger fan and japanese caps and no 12vhpwr type 4 cable for my gpu. I havent noticed any performance issues from the more compact design of the E series and it included the cable my gpu needed.
I have ordered the corsair rm850x too with my rtx 4080 super ryzen 7 build, can you tell me if the rm850x is loud or has any other issues if any youve experienced?
Thanks for sharing!
That Apevia Prestige 600 watt sitting on top of your stack on the right is the one I just bought on Amazon for 51.99! Supposed to be here today for my Marketplace PC.
PSU twins!
Hi..My name is ROB...😂 Jokes aside, I really enjoy your videos and content. They are super informative and helpful for us pc builders and gamers. Pc parts in South Africa don't come cheap, and your videos always helps me by staying up to date and making the right buying choices. A great thank you from me. 🤜
Thanks so much Rob! Love to hear how much you're enjoying the channel. And that sounds frustrating, glad to hear you feel better equipped! Thanks for watching :)
Nice video. Helped me a lot. However, what is the best 1000+ W (1050/1100W is ok) psu in WHITE?
So there's the Vetroo GV1000 which is a B-Tier currently at $130, or the Deepcool PX1000G which is a A-Tier currently at $161.
Thermaltake has good white PSUs
hot tip - the corsair is the better psu because it has a longer 600w GPU cable. The GPU cable in the Thermaltake is VERY SHORT. Did not work in a meshroom S.
Glad I went with an XPG Core Reactor 750. It's presently overkill for my hardware but I trust it'll give me peace of mind for the next 8-10 years.
The Chieftec Polaris seems nice, although doesn't look to be sold in the US. It's B tier on the PSU tier list, 1050W model is 99€ in Finland
Why do you recommend MSI mag series a750gl? In the list the speculative one is MSI mpg series, not mag series?
Apevia ATX-GX850W so far a year later is still working fine and for 3 months i had it in the garage so it ran hot and never gave out
Pc has ryzen 5700x
Rx 7900 xt
Definitely recommend for $69 and semi modular black out cables look great since i dont like extensions
I'll stick with Corsair. My wife's pc is powered by a 11 year old AX760i pushing a 3800x/ 3080.
My son's pc has an old tx750 still going with my old 1080ti. I'm running an RM 1000x for a few years now. No issues ever..
I have the Be Quiet Pure Power 12M 850 Watts. It's a nice PSU but the cables aren't great. Aside from the motherboard cable, none of them are braided. It also seems like the PCI-E cables are also kind of short. The PSU unit itself is great, certainly high quality and the price is quite good. You can buy this unit but you may need to also buy some extensions for the cables.
Thanks for sharing!
What do you think about the xpg pylon 650w?
Man, I wish i had this video a little earlier! I recently bought a new PSU for my build to acommodate a future RX 6700 XT. Using that calculation trick i saw that I needed around the same amount of watts that the PSU provided. I mean, it'll still do the job but if I had known better, I would have held off and bought an even better one.
Sorry for the timing!
Perfect timing. I just upgraded from a 12400 to a 14900K. So I need me a PSU upgrade ASAP.
What are the rest of your specs?
Glad to help!!

I think seasonic white labels a lot of the A tier PSUs. Can't really go wrong with them .
which one?
@@rodintremboy6459 Corsair, nzxt, and I want to say montech. I can't recall all of them but seasonic makes PSUs for a lot of companies .
Interesting that you said the superflower is quiet bc hardware busters and other reviewers said it's loud
don't really needed a PSU at the moment but this was entertaining still, I remember grabbing a Fractal Design ION Gold 750 for around $87 a couple months back just because it was an A Tier apparently on the tier list felt like it was a good decision to replace an old PSU
Appreciate the watch!
Jason, going along with a video 5 days ago and a question about cleaning your PC; My area is very dry, so we use humidifiers inside the house. These are the ultrasonic humidifiers and as a result of the hard water in the area, they leave a residue of calcium and magnesium all over the house and in my PC. Do you know of or have any concerns about this kind of build up of minerals being any worse than regular dust for a PC?
That is a very good question. I would guess that it can be a problem but look up information on youtube etc. to find out.
I don't know about this personally sorry! Interesting question. Let me know if you find out!
Thoughts on corsair cv 750 ? 80 plus bronze btw
Recommend seasonic gx series for people quality PSU
enermax all the way been using enermax psus for years never had one of them fail im running a ryzen 7 5800x 81gb ram artic am4 cpu cooler with a radeon rx 7600 xt 16gb 6 case fans and a wifi card everything stable
Yo Jason, your shirt is awesome!
Where can we get it?
Thank you! Its available from our Merch store, the link is in the description of the video (:
I have a 850w GF3 and it has the fan issues too, not really a problem, but when the fan kicks on it's the most noticeable fan in the system. You can replace the fan with a quieter slower one but I haven't bothered. The problem is the fan kicks on seemingly randomly even at less than 50% load. Just annoying when it does. Other than that no issues at all with this PSU
Thanks for sharing!
The important thing to keep in mind with PSUs is that a name brand doesn't guarantee that of their PSU models are the same quality, as most of the brands source their PSUs from multiple OEMs, of which there are only 3 or 4 truly good ones. Looking at the Cultist's list, you'll see brands that have A-rated PSUs also have low-rated or even garbage PSUs. Thermaltake is a good example of this; they have a few gold-highlighted A-Tier units (two of which are sourced from CWT, one of the best PSU OEMs), but they have plenty in the trash end of the list as well.
Im getting the NZXT C Series ATX 3.0 1200W PSU,was surprised it wasn't mentioned, has good reviews and is on the "A" tier list.
This isn't a full list of all great PSUs out there, just the ones that had the most competitive prices in the US at filming (:
@@PCBuilderChannel Hey cheers for the reply, timing was amazing,i just started watching your "GPU Price Crash!" post as i seen your reply haha.
Definitely sympathetic to those on a tight budget, but of all the components I'd probably recommend spending the extra $30 here to get an A tier PSU.
Great video Jason, really informative. Jason, if you don't have the time to answer this ? I understand.
I'm building a PC that will be used for word processing and Internet browsing. I'm not a gamer. I will be getting into some basic video editing and using the rig as a flight simulator (MSFS or XPlane).
I will be using either the 13700k or 13900k and anywhere from a 4070ti super to a 4090. I won't be overclocking anything.
Given these parameters what is the least amount of power that I should be looking for in a PSU.
I'm thinking 1200 watts to 1600 watts if I get a 4090.
Considering what you're using the PC for I'd say a 4090 is overkill as is a 13900K/14900K. Plus Jason doesn't recommend the i9's.
Go 14700K with a 4070 Ti Super. I can help you pick out parts if you'd like.
I would go 14700K with a 4070 Ti Super. An i9 and 4090 is overkill.
I can help you pick out parts if you want, I just need to know your budget.
@@kelley09162 That's what I was thinking the super and 13700k (less power than the 14700k). I was only considering the 4090 because I've read that MSFS likes more vram.
Anyway if I go with the 4070ti super and 13700 will 1200 watts be enough.
@@user-yq5od9uj3f so you need to put your build into PC Part Picker and times the watts by 1.5.
You're going to need to decide on your CPU/GPU combo before picking a PSU. And for your build needs I'd go 13700K or 14700K paired with 4070 super til. See our Best Builds April video for a great sample 14700K build
Hi, I got a couple of questions regarding the sponsor:
- are those keys global? I live in Europe, I know some game codes are region-restricted.
- if I buy a Windows 10 key, can I upgrade it later to Windows 11, or should I buy the Windows 11 key in the first place?
Many thanks for the answers!
Looking to buy a new pay. Thought I'd get educated first. Thank you 👊
You're very welcome, thanks for tuning in. Happy learning!
Hi Jason! Actually both MSI MPG A850G and A1000G are currently ATX 3.1 psus despite not being labelled so. Msi has silently updated the connector but hasnt changed labeling. I know few people who received 12V-2x6 version and i have bought A850G myself recently (about 2 weeks ago) and got updated one as well. I live in Europe so i dont really know if msi did the same in US. Greetings from Poland!
Good to know! I recently got the 850GL but mine was 3.0, maybe just working through old stock.
My HDDs have been failing and I've been told today that the cause might it be my power supply...great timing!
Hey Jason and folks!
Recently I started upgrading my current am4 build. Just installed an RX 7800XT on it yesterday and love it. Next up i need to upgrade my R5 3600 to one of the am4 X3D models and also get a cooler since I am using the stock one rn. Unfortunately though, my PSU is a Seasonic S12iii 650W, which i think is enough power for the rest of the upgrade however I found out it is E rated in the tier list due to having only OPP protection and no OCP. Do you think I should prioritize upgrading to a better PSU ASAP before upgrading the CPU because of this??
I'd swap the PSU when you can, and get one that will support your final build.
@@PCBuilderChannel that will probably my route while I wait for some nice CPU discounts. Thanks for the tip Jason, best pc building channel!
I got the be quiet pure power 12M. 1000W. Got it on a sale that made it as cheap as any other 850W. It taught me to hate 6+2 connecters, but it's doing well otherwise.
I purchased the MSI Mag (850w) 3.0&pcie5.0 PSU that I believe you have on the table. It was a tier when I looked. For the newer 12v connection, it came with two cables. One was only for Nvidia GPUs that take the new connect. But there was also a second cable that plugged into the 12v connection on the unit that split (not pigtailed or daisy chained) into two separate pcie 6+2 pin connections. I used that cable to plug in my RX 7800 XT based on the cable specs (up to 600w of transferable power) and advice I got in reddit forums. However, I've never done this before, but everyone told me that's what the new cable is meant for and one of the selling points for the unit. Are you saying that's a bad idea and I shouldn't use this new feature and go back to the normal two 6+2 pin connection?
Sorry I should have added some b-roll of the cable. As I say in the video, if the cable is clearly two cables connecting to the same port, that is fine. That is what you have and it is fine.
@@PCBuilderChannel Yeah showing all the cables would be good, considering the new units. But it's not your fault. MSI should really provide better directions and guides, lol like Seasonic does
I also wonder why no Seasonic PSU on your recommendation. The latest Seasonic Focus GX ATX3.0/PCI-E 5.0 and vertex comes with individually sleeved cables ssving money from buyin cable extension for the looks and comes with a 10 yr warranty.
I think Corsair RMe models doesn't use Japanese capacitors, would this be a deciding factor over other PSU that uses one?
Seasonic makes a lot of good ones! They just aren't priced as competitively as the ones in this video in the US market at the time of filming.
Hey Jason I’m not a tech guy like at all but I wanted to no if it would be cheaper to build my own computer instead of buying one I have been considering a Mac mini and I would need a monitor as well but I have never built a computer and I’m one of those guy that you would say is “hard on things” …. Simply put I break things easily! So I’m wondering if it’s worth the time and effort to build my own computer or just to buy one and also how cost effective it will be. I am getting into video editing! And also doing my normal computer work like xcel and stuff of that nature !
Yes it would be cheaper building your own vs a Pre-Built but a M2 Mac Mini would be cheaper.
What parts I would recommend depends on your budget.
You can get a better deal building your own but you certainly don't have to. There are some great prebuilt gaming pc deals out there right now that will trounce Mac prices. Check out our Best Prebuilt Gaming PC 2024 video for some great recommendations
Maaaaaaaaaahhhhhh -! Thought there was going to be a round-up table!!!!! I'm in up-grade hell at the moment (having to return incompatible parts, losing money) and the suppliers are telling me its my fault... I "only" have a Corsair VS550 - apparently thats crap, I need a massively better PSU. At the moment I'm looking at a Mars Gaming 850 fully modular at £55.... 4k rataings at 4.5 stars. If anyone can advise better, I'll listen. I have the budget - I can stretch to £120, but obviously... savings are spent elsewhere... so....
I've never heard of Mars PSUs.
What country are you from and are you looking at an 850W PSU?
I have the MPG A1000G. The quality of feel of this PSU really surprised me!
A graded Thermaltake fixed all problems in my monsterbuild
What are your specs in your build?
You also need a true online UPS, which due to the double conversion your power is cleaner and less transients, then if you feed the UPS from a voltage stabilizer your power is even cleaner.
Yes for people who have any risk of power shut off its super helpful. We have them in New Orleans for sure. Good tip!
I got an hx1000i and regret not getting a super flower, woulda been much cheaper but i just went with the “safe” pick since its my first high end pc. Either way should be fine for a 7800x3d and 4080 super *knock on wood*
That is a nice high end build.
Msi mag 750bn pcie 5 bronze power supply vs antec neo eco neg 750 power supply... which one i should get for a ryzen 7 7700 and 4070 super build... both psu costs around same here in ny country
That Thermaltake GF3 PSU was horrible for me, died on me after a month. Crashed and booted games and surfing the internet all the time and the fan didn’t know how to spin properly. Hopefully that Corsair RMe 850W works for me. Customer support for thermaltake was super rude as well.
The easiest way to choose a PSU is the following.
1) If the manufacturer is only willing to give it a three-year warranty, then it is trash tier - don't buy.
2) If the manufacturer only offers a five-year warranty, then it will do, but don't expect it to last.
3) The only PSU you should be considering are ones where the manufacturer offers at least a ten year warranty.
Remember, the PSU is the only component that can actually destroy other components - so don't cheap out.
what is the difference between MSI Mag G and GL?
Wish I had seen this a week ago. I assume PSU differences were minimal as long as they were gold rated, bought the cheapest 1000 watt pcu. Guess I'll have to see where it lands on the list..
It seemed to be in A-tier though it was blue not gold. Deepcool PQ1000M.. think I lucked out but we'll see how it goes together tomorrow!
A lot of people get confused that way. Glad you got a good one and best wishes on the build! (:
I was looking at the MSI MPG A1000G PSU for my future 7800x3D/7900xtx 4k gaming build. Would this be enough? What I read online indicated that should be fine.
Yes that should be enough
Yes I would think so, but you can follow the method in the video to double check
