Great start on the diffuser, looks tight and slick so far. A tight cope to the mufflers (10mm) ish would also be sweet! I know, I know can't be seen except on the lift. But when you're at the car show and you have the mirrors under it that's when it counts!

Don’t push yourself too much, my friend. My wife and I were diagnosed with the “dread virus” last Thursday, and it’s knocked the crap out of me, (her…not as much). Just be careful, as this stuff can reach out and bite you in the ass, just when you are feeling better.

When I look at the rear and imagine vertical panels on either side of the mufflers (as you mentioned), it reminds me of an F-15 fighter, looking at it head on around the engines. That’s not a bad thing IMO.

Mrs Aussie Shed is a Cardiac Nurse, she had close exposure to a patient who returned a positive test after a few days. They test everyone who comes in, but it often takes a few days for the viral load to register.
They still wear Masks & gowns for the neg patients but not the super duper stuff.
Shows how ineffective standard Masks are.
Anyhow, i'm over the worst now I reckon, but still feeling it. Has definitely knocked me around though.

All I could think about as you were talking about covering the under-body is the heat generated by the exhausts, particularly when you are stopped at the lights on a 40oC day.
It occurred to me that, in addition to some air flow you mentioned, to line the exposed floor pan with light aluminium sheet to reflect heat back down and to minimise the heating of the floor pan. Not a lot of air flow, so can be very light aluminium sheet attached to the floor pan, but spaced a few mm from it. Then you have to make sure you don't create spots where water can pool...it is a friggin complex thing you are working on!!!
G'day Benny, yep its doing my head in. The Aero design is fairly easy, Its pretty simple under there & I have experience with automotive Aero, so no Biggy in that regard. As you mentioned, integrating it to work with that shell, with the mechanical layout is the issue. It's forcing compromises that ultimately lead to even more compromises. Like anything the Devil is in the details hey. I'll get there eventually, but currently it two steps forward & one step back.

Awesome work as always mate. Looks great, no way it’s going to be noticeable back down there. Super neat work. But, some discussion of the theory of what’s going on and what’s the intended gains vs sacrifices might be cool (I know you mentioned downforce against weight gain which is it in a nutshell I suppose). But is there a possibility that air flow could enter in underneath and then become captured behind the rear bumper creating a sort of undesirable ‘parachute’ effect? Could cause high drag possibly and defeat the purpose to some extent? Get well soon mate, we had it a while back. Was pretty grim but luckily we’re vaccinated up the wazoo so wasn’t too bad all in all.
G'day Mate, funny you know, I deleted heaps of technical Aero stuff in the editing, I went off on a bit of an Aero tangent & after reviewing it I thought, "Nah I sound like a bit of a know it all tool". I will though, its a promise. I reckon I could talk for at least half an hour just on the issues with the Z32 body shape alone, without even getting into the current mods. The floor area will be mostly closed up with a limited airflow for cooling purposes, there will also be some venting on the back of the rear bar or the diffuser itself to exhaust said air.
