Congrats on the new bike! Nice informative video. While I do agree that all bikes should be weighted with pedals, weighing them without eliminates the variable of different weights for different pedal models. Also, when you measured the weight of the bike, the front derailleur battery was not on :)) (so add 25-30 grams). All in all, it seems that weight of the M sized bike is pretty much as advertised by Canyon on their site. Have fun riding the bike!
I'm watching from Japan. It's a good road bike. I also want a Canyon road bike. It sells well in Japan as well. Now, with the yen depreciating, it is more expensive than before. I ride a Specialized Roubaix.
Yes, you can change the vertical orientation of the saddle. Don't be afraid to push very hard on the nose of the saddle. It will move. I had the same problem :)
35 /28 bottom gear is fine for a professional rider on rolling terrain. Having to buy and fit a new chainset, cassette and chain is very sensible but I am surprised that it wasn't an option when ordering the bike. Hope you enjoy riding it.
I ordered mine eon a friday ( after i received an email ) and Fed-Ex delivered on the following Tuesday. Also got it for 1000.00 of the original price.
She is 180cm and we did use the canyon calculator. We also went to a place called just pedal by dorking in Surrey, where you can try the bikes as they hire canyons.
If you bought a separate stem then yes you probably could but I’m not sure how it would be putting the cables through the stem and headset spacers. I wouldn’t do it personally.

Better check out your seat tube!! Mine came in XL with an asymmetrical and crooked seat tube. I wait for replacement frame since september. I only received excuses yet.
Just like most bikes, no pedals included. You will have to buy them separately. That one I will leave up to you but it only takes a few rides to get used to them.
Beautiful bike! I was 2 hours late and now i have to wait another month till i'll get mine. Will i need a new chain if i go from 10-30 to 10-34 in the back? :X I already bought a new cassette cause i'm riding a lot of mountains :) Or is it try and error with the chainlenght? :)
One person in the comments on this video have said that they didn’t need to change the chain and it worked fine. Im skeptical but we will test it when it arrives next week and then if it doesn’t work we will put the new chain on.
Hello! Today, how is the performance of the bike? I have read in several forums people who are very happy with canyon and other people who are upset, saying that the quality of the frame is not very reliable... what is your experience with the brand and this bike? I'm hesitating to buy it, thank you very much!
This one is Laura’s bike and she adores it. She love the handling downhill and the fast lucky feeling up hill. In the flats she is also more than happy with it. In terms of reliability she hasn’t had a single issue thankfully. I do personally believe this is down to her being a lighter rider which should have less stress on the bike. I have heard of a lot of slipping seatpost issues in this comment section for this vid.
I agree that the cassette is too small for a climbing bike. You can change the cassette with a 33 without changing the real derailleur or the chain. I did the same on my Aeroad
Can I ask how the brakes were setup, was it Euro style left lever does front etc. or Moto standard for UK with left lever activating rear and right for front?
If it is being shipped to the uk, it comes set up uk sides, so as you said, right for front, left for rear. If it’s shipped to anywhere else in Europe, they flip it

I’m in Ireland and our default set up is Moto style same as the UK, I contacted Canyon Support today and they told me all shipments to Ireland will come set up Euro style which is a bit of a pain. They said it’s for logistical reasons I guess it could be some sort of Brexit/Europe thing where stock is managed separately?
Ah, yes I can see how that complicates it. Would be a pain to take it to a bike shop just to swap the hoses. Would be good if on the order you email them and they set it up the other way round

Let me try for you. I can speak to the uk branch but I suspect this is part of the German side of things. It’s not too hard for you mr bike shop to swap them but it’s just an extra step on top

Thinking about replacing my current road bike with a Canyon too soon. Just cant really decide if going with an Ultimate as well or Aeroad. Where I live and the bike will be used ~80% of time its flat and hilly, but for trips to the Alps a lighter bike would be nicer for sure.
She is 180cm tall. She still has some flexibility to work on really, that’s where she suffers. She has tried the small and the saddle to handle bar drop is ridiculous because of how long her legs are.
They are both quite similar really. I think it depends which style and gearing arrangement you like better. I don’t think you can go wrong with either.
@@user-lo6fd3hy3q You won't be disappointed that you went with the di2. I've never had Etap but I have a Domane sl7 with the previous generation Ultegra di2 which has over 12,000 miles on it and it still works as good as the day I bought it and I can only imagine it's gotten better.

It was not. Came with tubes. We haven’t taken the tyre off to check if come with tubeless tape yet as only just ordered the valves but I assume it will be ready to roll. Just need the valves and sealant.

It does come with a smaller 10t cog on the back rather than 11t which makes a bigger difference than 50-11. It’s not my bike but even when I race in a 40 man peloton even averaging 45kmh I’m not in my biggest cog until the sprints at the end, so that massive gear hardly gets used anyway. I think the close front ratios suit some people more.
I think there is some adjustment either way. Sounds like you might be on the edge of both so they can both account for that. Is that what can you said to go for?
@@camazik1 I'm your exact size (but a bit higher leg) and they advise me to go for the S. With a M, the saddle would be at his minimum so that is not optimal.

Not a bad bike but I like my 2016 CF SLX 8.0 better. It looks almost identical but without the glossy bits and weighs 6.7kg. without pedals and cost me A$4700. I won't 'upgrade' anytime soon. No need for disc brakes.
That is a great bike! Will definitely have a few more good years in it. I will say though when you are on an alpine decent, the stopping power of disk brakes really shine through. We have a lot of theses planned next year so it was worth it for Laura to go for disk.
We haven’t. Laura was happy with where it was when it came. I believe it is quite simple though. There is a small rubber cap that hides the bolt on the stem. Unbolt, take off and remove some spacers.
Well. I had a slightly different experience. Received the Ultimate last week, and the bike is with a „service“ partner since, as the adjustment bolt for the cockpit was completely stuck. Worst of all: the part in question is not in stock right now.
The new generation Ultimate looks so good, but just too heavy to be a climbing bike...especially compared to the last generation. I would say a sub 7.3 kilos weight would make more sense for this one.
Why would you include pedals in a bike weight? Everybody uses different pedals. Would you rather add the weight of your pedals to the published weight to find a total or would you rather have to look up dozens of different pedal weights and do math every time you look at a published weight? You make no sense.
Doesn’t really bother me that much to be honest. I think most pedals are within about 100g of each other anyway and that’s what here total weight of the bike is. All frames are going to be slightly different as well I think.

The bike weighs 27 lbs fully assembled, which is not bad.A couple quirks about the bike:- left brake lever operates the front brake (something to get used to if controlling the front brake with your right hand is what you usually do)- Shimano thumb shifters for the gears are positioned close to the center. This is a bit of a nuisance because changing gears involved taking your weight from one hand to change gears, a hassle if you are regularly changing gears. However, gear shifters positioned at the drop bars are very expensive compared to thumb shifters, so I can understand, given the price of the bikeBike is otherwise of good quality. Gears change fairly smoothly and fit/assembly is of good quality. A totally competent product for the price.

Would be nice if the stem can be retrofitted or I imagine you would have to get the new forks as well for the cables to run through the headset.

hi! I'm 1.70 tall and have 74.5 legs. the canyon site says i am xs, but my biomechanist recommends s. what to do???
If you can, just go try one. There is a place called just pedal by Denbys by dorking where you can try them.
I used the canyon sizing tool and got a XS size. I’m 175cm with 76 inner inseam. Do you think it’s a reasonable size given you got an M size? Thanks.

A lot of people seem to be having issues with this. Laura’s is ok so far so we are hoping she missed one of the worse frames

I would imagine the M would be ok if the canyon size guide suggests it. It’s quite a long bike as it is. And it would be a little lighter.

The Ultegra Di2 groupset is significantly lighter. Shimano spare parts, especially the cassettes are way cheaper.

I dont get the purpose of 48 -35 chainring. Why not just go with 50-34. Higher top speed and better climbing gear by 1 tooth

It’s definitely a race set up. But I think that’s a mistake from canyon as people will buy this bike for climbing I think.
